My computer came with Java installed by default and I uninstalled it, how can I be sure it's 100% uninstalled from my computer? Also I don't think this means Java is on my computer necessarily but in web browsers I notice Java, does that mean Java is on my computer?

But it still shows up in my windows search (the one that shows up from the right) . . with an icon and everything (unfortunately I can't snip that but I could the error that comes up, which is attached).
Is there a way to refresh this? I can't right-click on the entry either--it doesn't do anything.
It isn't:
in the list of installed programs

I was thinking this was a Windows Search/Indexing issue--I normally leave that off, but I turned it off and it rebuilt my index and it's still there.

im having problem with installing java.
Pc mentioned that i have a very old version of java ( last updated was in early 2013) and that i need to install the latest version. when i do, it reports an error of being unable to download it and install it. what should i do?
I bought a new notebook and went into control panel, Programs, uninstall and uninstalled the online games. But when I go and show All Apps, they still show up. How do I remove them from there? If I right click on the icon of one of the games, it doesn't give me an option to delete it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI added some apps from the Store to my initial Owner/Admin account on Win 8.1. Today, I wanted to have them show on the account that will be used for everyday non-admin stuff. I logged into Microsoft with this account and attempted to add them to show on this account (after temporarily promoting account to Admin). Store said it was "already installed." So....I logged back into initial owner/admin account, and used the "uninstall" (not just unpin) option on the bottom of the Start Screen, thinking that I couldn't have them on two accounts so I'll get rid of them on one account. But...when I went back to install the apps on the new account from the Store, I get the same message. I looked for the apps via Control Panel, but nothing shows.
How can I get these apps to install/reinstall when they think they're already there? Are they on my machine where I can actually see/remove/use them? Where are they hiding?
I uninstalled google talk from control panel (uninstall a program) however I can still see Google Talk application group (with all icons) in the All apps screen. I also checked C:UsersuserAppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart Menu Programs but couldn't find leftovers there.

I have gone to java.com/en/download/win.jsp?locale=en and downloaded Java onto my laptop. I then right click on the file and click "Run as administrator". It then asks me if I want to give approval to run the executable and I answer yes. At this point, nothing happens.
I have tried this with Chrome and IE 10 and I have tried to install it from the Desktop screen.
How to correctly install Java as I can't seem to be able to do so.
I use CCleaner 4.14.4707 and recently uninstalled Mozilla Firefox from my computer few days ago. I've just realized that when I open CCleaner, I still see a 'Firefox' section at the left sidebar of the app, and there's a Firefox tab (containing some entries) in the Startup list, though the Firefox itself had already been removed.
I try to clean registry using Wise, and re-install CCleaner, but those things still exist.
How can I remove them?
Before updating, a message was shown that updating will not delete any of my information or files but apps will be uninstalled. Upon restarting my laptop, my apps were uninstalled (and I just re-installed them) but my program files were also uninstalled. Yea, I can just install them all again but some program file that were uninstalled were my Microsoft Office that I paid for and the paid software that came preinstalled on my laptop (Like the webcam, movie editor, etc). I really need those software (especially office) but I do not want to pay for them. Would a system restore bring back those files? Is that the only way I can get those programs (and others) back?

However, i just made a new account (microsoft) and i installed this one app. I did not like it very much so I uninstalled. However, when i log in at my market and browse to my apps, under the Apps installed in device Sotxxxxx it shows that very app there, saying at the bottom "Not installed". What can i do? This app is also shown under Apps not installed in this device. I was thinking about deleting the current account, as i use different e-mail provider and create it again with same username.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just recently changed my OS to Win 8.1 (from Win 7) and a java application I have (*.jar) is pointing to Python to open it. This is obviously wrong. If I download the latest version of Java and install it, the icon changes and the app works great. The "jar" externsion is associated with java. When the PC is rebooted a few days later, the icon is now the Python one and "jar" is now associated with Python.
How can I get it to "stick" that *.jar is associated with Java?
When I go to the Store and choose Account > My apps, this is what I see.
It says there are four apps that are on my pc, yet it also says that they're not installed? I think this is why it's giving me the 80073cf0 error that I mentioned before. How would I go about completely deleting these apps from my computer? Like which folder do I go into and what do I delete?
With the evaluation copy of 8.1 the java app I used to connect to operate the building I work at remotely, worked fine. With the final 8.1 install, I can no longer run the app. I noticed Internet Explorer 11 (which worked with my java app) was also updated. As I can't seem to install the older version, I'm wondering if the IE 11 update is what broke the java app or the 8.1 final update.

I just purchased Windows 8. I followed the instructions of some of the threads I saw below with no success. I am also not very technical When I got to Java I downloaded both off-line versions as recommended. At the bottom of the screen it indicated installation success. I then closed all browsers and re-started my machine. Java does not show in my programs and when I went to the test Java site it indicated no programs downloaded, but gave me a link to activate plug-in through Firefox.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy main problem is that I accidentally uninstalled MS Office earlier today from my Dell Inspiron which I bought in 2012; the second problem is that I can't do a system restore to get it back to the point before the accidental un-installation. I'm on Windows 8. It keeps telling me there's something wrong but when I run a check on the C: drive, everything comes up fine. I opened the computer in safe mode, do a system restore and same thing happens - error.
I don't know if I can locate the original MS Office card that I received when I got the computer, to re-install the program, which is why I'm in a bit of a panic right now.
I uinstalled this program and no cannot connect to the internet. I have tried ipconfig /release and renew. I uinstalled and reinstalled my network adapter and I hard reset my modem back to default out of box. My icon my the time says there's a connection but when I try anything internet wise is says there is none. What to do I dont have any backups yet.. I guess I'll have to wipe it. View 7 Replies View RelatedI thought Windows Search would be only the indexer function. So I went to Control Panel, Add remove programs, Install or Remove Windows components/resources (I have portuguese windows) And I removed Windows Search
But now I can't use any search feature (example: on explorer, on w8 start menu). So I tried to install again selecting "Windows Search" on windows components, but after click OK, nothing happens!
I was looking at all my installed programs on my computer. I noticed that Java is not on the list, so that means it's not installed yet.
So I went to Java.com to download it. However, when I clicked "Agree and Start Free Download", Google Chrome (the web browser I was using) shows a fail page. Then I tried all the other web browsers installed on my computer, i.e. Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Opera. Unfortunately, they all showed fail pages as well.
Internet Explorer says "This page can't be displayed", Safari says "Safari can't open the page" with an error code of kCFErrorDomainWinSock:10054, Firefox says "The connection was reset", Opera says "This webpage is not available", and Google Chrome says the same thing as Opera ("This webpage is not available") with a different layout of text.

I'm running windows 8 RTM 64bit and it seems that I can't get java work properly with firefox or chrome.. With IE it works perfectly. We are talking about java 7 update 7 and yes it is 32bit java, not 64bit. With every page where java is needed it says 'Install java' etc.

I've been trying to make a server since forever. Not just the plain Minecraft Vanilla server, but a bucket server. I've downloaded craftbucket, the latest version, and tried to run it. It gives me the error saying " 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I do have java installed so I don't know why this is happening.

ASUS Forumla IV latest BIOS
ASUS GTX 690
2x4 2333 GB RAM
ANTEC 1200W PSU
1 SSD & 4 HDD
Creative ZXR SB
using latest drivers for all the above
sometimes the PC power off completely when i shutdown, sometimes not, the screen would go black but the power won't get turned off, the fans are still spinning and no BSOD...I have to either hard reset or hold the power button to turn it off.
I tried resetting CMOS, turning on and off the Fast boot feature in power options
With or without overclocking
Is there anyway to diagnose or investigate what is causing the PC not to power off completely?
