View 2 RepliesI need to install java on my laptop. I tried several to do it but without success. Any link that will enable me to install java on my laptop.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased Windows 8. I followed the instructions of some of the threads I saw below with no success. I am also not very technical When I got to Java I downloaded both off-line versions as recommended. At the bottom of the screen it indicated installation success. I then closed all browsers and re-started my machine. Java does not show in my programs and when I went to the test Java site it indicated no programs downloaded, but gave me a link to activate plug-in through Firefox.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have IE10 and Chrome version 24 on my Windows 8 desktop.
I have gone to java.com/en/download/win.jsp?locale=en and downloaded Java onto my laptop. I then right click on the file and click "Run as administrator". It then asks me if I want to give approval to run the executable and I answer yes. At this point, nothing happens.
I have tried this with Chrome and IE 10 and I have tried to install it from the Desktop screen.
How to correctly install Java as I can't seem to be able to do so.
im having problem with installing java.
Pc mentioned that i have a very old version of java ( last updated was in early 2013) and that i need to install the latest version. when i do, it reports an error of being unable to download it and install it. what should i do?
My computer came with Java installed by default and I uninstalled it, how can I be sure it's 100% uninstalled from my computer? Also I don't think this means Java is on my computer necessarily but in web browsers I notice Java, does that mean Java is on my computer?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just recently changed my OS to Win 8.1 (from Win 7) and a java application I have (*.jar) is pointing to Python to open it. This is obviously wrong. If I download the latest version of Java and install it, the icon changes and the app works great. The "jar" externsion is associated with java. When the PC is rebooted a few days later, the icon is now the Python one and "jar" is now associated with Python.
How can I get it to "stick" that *.jar is associated with Java?
I cannot install java on my computer.I download the application on their website, tried many times to install it but without success.
I tried the offline version, close all my tabs, stop firewall, antivirus....not working. I tried with administrator, same.
I have Office Pro 2010 on my 32bit XP Pro desktop. If possible, I'd like to uninstall Offc Pro and install it on my laptop that is running Win 8.1. Can this be done?
My Office Pro is a valid download with key but I only downloaded the 32 bit version and have changed the key one time as the result of a support call to MS soon after installing it on my XP machine.
Any success installing Asus Suite 3 V.10082 64-bit? I just built a new Asus Z97-Deluxe PC running windows 8.1 64-Bit and have tried multiple time installing Asus Aisuite 3, but each time I install it will install into the program files(x86) folder and runs in 32-Bit. Tried Asus support which turned out to be a waste of time.

problem: installing Adobe Acrobat Reader
error: running the installer from go.adobe.com/reader from within firefox or IE
I get error saying "invalid function in Dynamic Link Library C:windowssystem32dxtrans.dl error window appears and continues to appear over and over after pressing OK until you either restart the computer, or somehow close the running task, but I've yet to figure out how to get to the task manager since this WIndows 8 stuff is still very new to me. I keep telling her for now she can download the pdf's and use the built in adobe reader, but apparently she's been having issues with that too lately. I think she wants to be able to read them in her web browser but without being able to install adobe reader she's not able to do that so.
I have just got a new laptop with Windows 8 I have downloaded Office 2010 (as I don't have a CD) but when it loaded It gives me an option to open in verious apps but none of them allows me to install to the OS ....

View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't install new apps or update existing ones.
Each time I attempt to install or update through the app store I receive error message 0x80072ee4 or 080073cff. I tried:
1. Performing a clean boot. (Disabling all non-microsoft services and startup items)
2. Using the SFC /SCANNOW option to verify the integrity of windows files.
3. Clearing C:/Users/Myusername/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows Store and C:/Users/Myusername/AppData/Local/Package to clean the cache files.
4. Clearing C:/Windows/SoftwareDistribution and restarting the Windows Update service.
5. Verifying that all windows services are running.
6. Disabling NIS 2013
7. Running troubleshooter
Nothing works. Don't tell me to run the windows restore function.
1. I don't consider that to be a genuine solution. (What if the same thing happens again?)
2. I don't plan on reinstalling all 50 non-windows app store applications.
I have this little problem and I'm not 100% sure that it is windows 8 related but honestly I think it is..
I'm running windows 8 RTM 64bit and it seems that I can't get java work properly with firefox or chrome.. With IE it works perfectly. We are talking about java 7 update 7 and yes it is 32bit java, not 64bit. With every page where java is needed it says 'Install java' etc.
With the evaluation copy of 8.1 the java app I used to connect to operate the building I work at remotely, worked fine. With the final 8.1 install, I can no longer run the app. I noticed Internet Explorer 11 (which worked with my java app) was also updated. As I can't seem to install the older version, I'm wondering if the IE 11 update is what broke the java app or the 8.1 final update.

There are some programs that when I install them appear to hang when they're most of the way through the install. A current example is Hotspot Shield.
I've unregistered and reregistered MSIexec, to no effect. I've run sfg/scannow and the system integrity is 100%. When I check the process it appears to be doing something, though so trivial as to be barely worth recording, so I have to assume it's not hung, unless it's marking time. It's certainly not waiting on a write queue.
I always wanted to make a small partition for the OS and use the rest of my HDD to store my apps and files but I couldn't format my PC as I had nowhere to back-up my work projects and files I'll need. So finally, I got an external HDD yesterday so I jumped quick on my PC to back-up my files and format (Note that my DVD reader is broken so I performed a clean install from a Partition where I stored Windows 8.1).
Everything went smooth but whenever I want to install a software or something, it default path is on A: (A: is the symbol of the small partition where I installed the OS). I want to install all my apps and store everything on the C: partition (Which is the main partition that have 550GBs).
I already changed the ProgramFilesDir's on the Regedit but whenever I want to install a software it still shows up as "A:" and even after manually changing it to C: the software doesn't lunch.

I'm also having another problem, after installing Windows 8.1, when my PC boots up it asks me from where I'd like to boot (Windows 8.1 or Windows 8). I want to delete that Windows 8 thing so it automatically boots on Windows 8.1.
I just loaded Windows 8 to a 256GB SSD. Can I install my other programs, such as Office, on another Hard Drive so that I do not run out space on my SSD?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not using the lists which are available for Hostsman I've just set it up to block Opencandy, but have not had time to test it yet to see if it works.
I'm just wondering if there are any other simple ways to block Opencandy from installing.
I use Peerblock, would it be possible to block Opencandy using this program?
Why can't the lists which are available for Hostsman and Peerblock not block Opencandy as default?
I switched from Win 7 to 8 and everything is perfect except the Store...
Like there wouldn't be a problem of using Microsoft account in Win 8 but every time I turn on my computer or even logout I have to type in stupid password!
Is there any way I can download apps from store without using Microsoft account ?
Or to bypass that stupid password for logging in ? But I more prefer to be not logged in into any type of account to use my pc.
I was told to remove all Java-related files from all my computers but my newest laptop has Windows 8 in it and I can't find the control panel, so I'd like to know if Java comes as a default program in new laptops (I haven't downloaded it).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried to install .net 3.5 or whatever but every time i try to install it it gives me the error code 0x800f0922.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows 8.1, trying to install .NET Framework 3.5 through the "Turn Windows features on or off" menu, and for some reason it won't connect to the update server, but only for this one feature, enabling and disabling everything else works just fine. It spits out error code 0x800F0906. When I go to the support site linked on the error message [URL], it gives me a few things to try. None of them work. When I try the one that apparently fixes the issue for most people, Method 3, the terminal spits out an error about the files not being there [URL]. This error also being covered on the same page as the first, I read through that, made sure everything was good to go, and even tried it with a completely separate Windows 8.1 ISO (what I was originally using was a base Windows 8 ISO), still nothing.
Now, I had this issue a few days ago, and it was stopping me from running a few programs. Having gone through everything I could find on the matter, I decided it was just some sort of file corruption and decided to do a fresh "nuke & pave" reinstall.
Windows 8 seems to detect my Xbox 360 and it automatically installs the SmartGlass app. While I quite like what SmartGlass can do, I have no need for it. If I uninstall it, it will just auto-install again next time I use my 360. How can I prevent this from happening?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was looking at all my installed programs on my computer. I noticed that Java is not on the list, so that means it's not installed yet.
So I went to Java.com to download it. However, when I clicked "Agree and Start Free Download", Google Chrome (the web browser I was using) shows a fail page. Then I tried all the other web browsers installed on my computer, i.e. Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Opera. Unfortunately, they all showed fail pages as well.
Internet Explorer says "This page can't be displayed", Safari says "Safari can't open the page" with an error code of kCFErrorDomainWinSock:10054, Firefox says "The connection was reset", Opera says "This webpage is not available", and Google Chrome says the same thing as Opera ("This webpage is not available") with a different layout of text.
I downloaded the newest version of Java, and now when I try to go to yahoo games,I am blocked. how do I get unblocked?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I have downloaded a few things that require the .NET framework 3.5. When I go to download/ install this, it moves realy fast, then stops and says: "Windows couldn't complete the requested changes" with the error code '0x800F081F'. I have been trying to do this for weeks now, and keep getting this error.
Some things to note:
I downloaded Windows 8 (Pro, 64)
My computer had a problem and I had to refresh it.
I am trying to install GTasks application in windows 8, but after clicking install it says this app was not installed and gives this error code: 0x80073cf9
Here is a screenshot:
Is there any other way to install this application? It installed just fine on my tablet (google nexus 10), but somehow it doesnt seem to work on windows 8
Maybe there is a manual way of installing an app.
Win App store not installing app, SFC scan details attached. Some files were corrupt... ow to replace/repair them.....
