My computer runs on windows 8 and i bought a camera what says that it supports operating system like XP, Vista and 7
So when i plugged in then nothing happened, nothing shown up in my computer. How to connect my camera with my computer?
I recently updated to windows 8.1 and now games are not working on my pc it says stuff like
Could not find a Direct3D device that supports the XNA Framework.
I have a Dell laptop running Windows 8.1 and my camera app recently stopped working. When I open the app a message comes up saying - We can't get to the camera roll right now.Something went wrong while accessing the camera roll.
I assume that the default save location for photos and videos is my pictures library but there is definitely a folder there called "Camera Roll" so what is the problem? Also, is there any way that I can get the photos to save to SkyDrive?
My (12-year-old) son's computer won't boot. It's a Dell Inspiron 17" running Windows 8, bought from Costco in July 2013. When I turn it on, Dell logo comes on and then in upper left it says "Checking Media [fail]", then "checking media" again, then "No Boot Device Found. Press any key to reboot the machine". I insert a USB recovery drive (it was made for my Toshiba that runs Windows 8.1, but it should work anyway, right?).
I choose US keyboard layout and it then opens into Recovery Environment. I choose Troubleshoot → Refresh Your PC. Message appears "The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again." I go to Troubleshoot → Startup Repair, which runs and then says "Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC." I then go back to Troubleshoot → Command Prompt and run chkdsk on Windows drive (c). It says "Windows has checked the file system and found no problems." Dell would probably tell me it's a hard drive failure and tell me to buy another one.
I have successfully done the following:
Integrated French (fr-FR) language pack to Windows 8.1 Enterprise en-US (x64).
Integrated French (fr-FR) language pack to Windows 8.1 Enterprise en-US (x86).
Combined the above 2 into an AIO.
I was able to install any of the 4 operating systems to install without requiring the serial number (image only contains enterprise sku).
The problem now is that I have a Windows 8 64-bit installation. I want to upgrade it to 8.1 using the disc. When I put the disc in, it complains that I need to insert the 64-bit disc.
Is there anyway to make my AIO image support upgrades for 32-bit and 64-bit?
My laptop is powered by an intel core i7 640m processor. I'm wishing to upgrade my system to windows 8 and i'v found, processor should be support PAE, NX, and SSE2 in windows 8 requirements page. In processor info section, PAE value is displayed as 36-bit and no any info about NX and SSE2 where can I find those information? that the i7 640m processor supports those features or not and is it windows 8 ready?

Is there any point to switch from x32 to x64?
Is there any down side? I read somewhere that I won't be able to run 16-bit applications (I don't even know if they still exist)?
Do I need to do a clean install, or can I use the Upgrade install option rather than the Custom (advanced) install option?

I tried a lot of software but after the conversion I see it in Word in gibberish (unread language).
Windows 8 problems. How to easily and quickly download selected photos from my camera. When I tried it was taking forever as the system seemed to be going through opening every single photo on my camera and I gave up waiting. I just want to be able to download the latest ones not all of the ones I have on my camera.

Other 'metro' apps do have an 'Uninstall' option eg 'calendar' or 'calculator' for example.
I used the Windows 8 Refresh and like many others I seem to have lost all the important files. Where as I could simply connect my Camera and it would automatically connect now it does't . AVG, I Tunes, Abi all lost. How can I restore the automatic connection etc? I can't even use the tool bar AVForums when writing a message?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony DVD camera (mdl DVR-HC85) that has USB and firewire cables for connection to a computer for the purpose of transferring video to computer programs. Both cables work fine with Windows XP. However, Windows 8 will not recognize the camera when connected by a USB cable. I was told by Sony that neither Windows Vista, Windows 7 nor Windows 8 will recognize the camera when using a USB cable.
I have a Dell computer with Windows 8 that does not have firewire nor can a firewire card be installed.
I am totally unhappy about windows 8. Many good features from earlier windows are missing such as -
1) You can not pin "Calculator" to the task bar. In earlier versions you could open the calculator, over other windows.
2) While scrolling to folders / files in Explorer or any software, the screen jumps abruptly to up or down.
3) While transferring Images from camera. You can not select part images for transfer along with renaming. This feature was available in Windows XP.
an error message in Device Manager when installing the network attached storage drives like MyBook Live, the drives themselves seem to work fine and i have access to them (most of the time) on my home netwok, however i keep getting that little yellow triangle telling me that something is wrong, specifically:
the device manager error code is This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Last part of the message, (Device Descriptor Request Failed). I get this, in Device Manager, and I have searched for an answer on the net. Also it is a Code 43. I went through my laptop, with an HP Technician this morning, I might add at a cost of 5p/minute, for 30 odd minutes. He has said that because I had gone over to Windows 8.1 and the recovery discs I made will not load, to put back in Windows 8. I have to send the laptop back for re-installing the OS, because Windows 8.1 do not have the update for my problem. Also the R.H. USB socket has a failure ID:0GAPTK-6T7716-MFPWWK-8D1Q03. I personally think that this is all what the problem is. a duff USB. Is this a cop-out???
Does Windows 8.1 having driver WHQL problems?
I only found out the problem with the usb when I tried to download a Mobi file to a Kindle for my wife. The other usb's work OK.

View 13 Replies View Relatedi was able to get as far as having the px load from camera to computer & somehow all px got installed into the computer but only temporarily ! While camera was still attached to tower, I clicked on Control Panel/Computer/then the list of programs in computer and then i saw the name of the camera (cannon Power Shot) ...then Cannon 100, clicked on that and then saw all px - was able to individually email some to myself but when i detached cable from tower to camera and went back to ''Computer'' found Cannon 100 but no px were there -so obviously i wasn't able to save them.....but strangely enough 3 of the downloaded px were in the ''DCIM' folder (whatever that term means)...but i don't know how those 3 got there ! So i got far enough to download & 'view' but don't know how to ''save'' the px in the computer for future viewing without the necessity of attaching the camera....besides i'd like to delete some px from the camera once saved into the computer.....I'm so used to XP

First let me say, I rarely leave my 8.1 system running all night as I generally switch off before bed.
On the FEW occasions I leave the system running all night I always get the "Your computer is low on memory" warning.
For instance, yesterday my software RAID mirror was "Re-synchronizing" and I wanted it to complete syncing so I left it running. NOTHING was running except Disk Manager. I closed down everything else. No browser, no Skype, no directory utility, no paint, no uTorrent....
Sure enough when I woke up this morning there it was....
A few days ago I wanted a couple of torrents to keep downloading so I kept the desktop running. Again NOTHING else was running and in the morning there it was....
I have 16Gb of memory and my pagefile.sys is 42Gb. My OS disc is a 250Gb SSD. I have set my system to hibernate after 5 hours idle. I have set the screen/display to sleep after 30 minutes.
The system isn't asleep when I wake as moving the mouse immediately brings the display back on line. Checking Task Manager shows NO memory hogs.
What I suspect is after 5 hours the hibernation process denies access to memory requests or something?
The strange thing is millions of people on 8.1 must leave their systems running all night but I have seen no mention of this behaviour.
I have a Samsung 500t and after clean install 8.1 i notice the camera app does not hv any resolution setting so now my 8 mpixel front cam is limited to 2mpixel. wtf?? how can ms f up even such a basic thing? I mean if this is the way Ms is going about doing bizniz its no wonder they are losing to android. this setting was present in 8.0. iwas hoping for better camera app like the ability to turn flash on off on demand but of course instead of improving its regression...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my tablet and the first thing I did is have it start in Desktop-mode so I never have to see that awful and useless toy Metro UI. Even on a tablet the desktop is superior. Go figure. I hate every time I accidentally click that "Start" button which brings me to Metro.
Anyway, the only way I can use the built-in camera from desktop is to "search" for camera and the Metro camera app shows up and I can take pictures. I even created a desktop short cut in desktop mode for that camera. But since that is a Metro app, it doesn't seem to work from Desktop.
1. is there a way to make this Metro camera app work from Desktop?
2. Is there a different desktop app or program to use camera from desktop?
It also would be nice to be able to zoom and have flashlight etc. this camera doesn't seem as great as my phone camera. Or am I missing something?
I have had no problems with Win 7 computers finding my Canon G16 WiFi camera and connection it to them. But my Win 8.1 system just can't find the camera to get it connected.

The laptop sees the camera's WiFi signal but connects with "Limited Connectivity" when I input the camera's SSID and password.
What does Limited Connectivity mean and what should I check to enable a full connection so I can copy photos from the camera to PC via WiFi?
The IP camera I'm using UCam247 1080P uses ActiveX so IE is my only option. If I use Chrome/FF the manual record controls disappear, so I'd really like to get this working with IE again. 7 days ago the camera was working OK using 192.168.0.39 (an auto assigned IP on set-up), but then having used it for 2 months the IP suddenly changed automatically and the camera dropped connection. The IP now is 192.168.0.4.
The problem seems to be related to me having changed the default password. It seems as though IE is remembering the new password and when the camera changed the IP, the password seems to have defaulted to the standard password. But IE now won't let me change this password, nor access the camera. At least this appears to be the issue.
Fast forward to now, the IP now assigned is 192.168.0.4 which is fine. But when I try to access this in IE, I get this message:
"Access Error: Unauthorized
when trying to obtain /en/player/activex_hd.asp
Access to this document requires a User ID"
I've tried everything I can think of to get IE working. Updates to latest V11, added IP to Compatibility View Settings, enabled all ActiveX controls, reset the browsing and password history, unchecked auto complete for passwords.
It's odd that this password box below is not popping up, so I can change the password. Image taken from another PC.
