I have one main computer with a router and 3 other computers who receive their internet wireless. How can you set up the canon PIXMA MX700 to enable printing from all computers?
View 1 RepliesI have a Canon i9100 printer which worked great through XP, Vista and Win 7....Canon provided updated drivers.. However, for 8.1, Canon does not provide a driver for this printer. Is there another source which makes a generic driver for this printer so it does not become obsolete?

WU says there is an update available, but that will not install. Error is WindowsUpdate_80070BC8, which doesn't work much. I haven't been able to find a 64 bit driver on any of the Canon sites, but I have found an XP 64 driver, on another site.
Checking properties for this printer in Devices & Printers throws up the following event: Driver Management concluded the process to install driver prnca00m.inf_amd64_26559657092dd606prnca00m.inf for Device Instance ID
USBPRINTCANONIP50007&8F48641&3&USB005 with the following status: 0xBC8.
This status code is listed as ERROR_CORE_DRIVER_PACKAGE_NOT_FOUND
Attempting to update the driver from the printer properties finds a couple of drivers, but they also fail to find a core driver package. Add printer wizard finds a compatible driver on my machine, but that also fails for the same reason.
This printer is installed OK on my W7 installation on the same machine.
The 64 bit XP driver installed OK on this Windows 8 RP installation, and printed a file OK, but attempting to upgrade results in the same error. After installing this XP driver, WU reported that the update installed, but Update History shows 'Failed'. Now WU isn't offering the update.
Trying to install a Canon MF5750 Printer on windows 8.1. Canon has a driver for this printer and windows 8.1 64.
My primary problem is that when I get to the point of selecting a port, I am unsure of what to do. My choices are LPT 1-4, COM 1-4, FILE, and PORTPROMPT, none of which would seem to represent a usb port. By crawling through the Device Manager listings, I should have plenty of usb 2 and 3 ports. So my question is what happened to my usb ports. An additional observation is that while the printer and fax functions are installed (though not working) the scan function is not installed.
I have a HP laptop, which I just recently run system recovery on. I had a pixma MP495 series print installed wireless and it was working fine. (wireless) I believe that I had used the compatibility wizard to install it as windows 7. My OS is windows 8.1. When attempting to run setup, I get a window that my computer has a newer version of MP driver in it so it will skip the installation of the driver. It runs the rest of the setup and gets to detecting the printer. I have the USB cable hooked to the computer also. It searchs both wireless and through the USB connection and can not find the printer.

I just want to copy to clipboard without wasting toner and paper. It can't be a program on the computer as it's clean with just Windows 8.1
It actually happens on all the machines (whether Windows 7, 8, or 8.1). Is it a program installed on the server? Is it a setting in Windows? How do I stop this behavior?
I have a Kodak Scanner and Canon Imageclass printer to which neither functions with my Windows 8 laptop. I tried installing new drivers a couple of months ago with no success. Do I now have to go out and get all new hardware just to be able to print/scan?

Up until a few days ago we could printer from the windows 7 laptop through the network. I have done 2 things since then. 1.) I uninstalled mcaffee internet security and installed nortons internet security and 2.) I tried to update to windows 8.1 which failed part way through the update then it said the system was reverting back to windows 8.0
Now I can't print from the laptop. (nothing changed on the laptop only on the windows 8 system).
I am trying to load Lexmark 5470 printer and get "enable bidirectional communication" error message. I am trying to load it on a brand new Toshiba laptop running 8.1 Suggested fix is to go to "ports" tab in the printer dialog box and enable it. I can't find the enable box to click. Any thoughts on resolving this issue. Both Lexmark and Microsoft won't talk to me w/o a credit card. The ptr is 5 years old and is not worthy of any significant investment, although it did work well.

The printer in question is completely turned off. I've shut the computer off and restarted it and it is still there. What now? I was trying to remove a virus and it had programs running to close them first. This is why I had to run recovery to clear it.

When I try to use the installation CD that came with the MP280 it starts the process of installation and gets to the install screen and tells me that a printer is already in use and that I should reboot and try again. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having to use a dark high contrast theme because when I look at normally it makes my eyes want to burn and I don't mean that sarcastically I mean that seriously my eyes start feeling like their burning when I'm staring at a screen that is so bright. So I've used the Microsoft high contrast black theme to make using my computer easier on my eyes however I'm experiencing a problem when I need to go and print something.
I'm printing out documents that are displayed in Internet Explorer and the problem is that the printed document comes out very faded almost as if the contrast is greatly reduced.And on the contrary, if I use the Microsoft high contrast white theme than the documents that I print from Internet Explorer come out printed very well with the same printer settings and all.
Is there anyway I can correct this short of having to use the high contrast white theme which just makes my eyes burn even more?
I am struggling to get the right size page like A4 when printing specific stuff, I just don't seem to get it right, what I want to do is = put some text on a page and put some pictures onto the same page as I am using a special paper and don't want to make any more mistakes as it is expensive ive printed previously on normal A4 plain paper i have wasted tons so i want text, pictures together on the same sheet not spread all over the sheet. Using new Sagemcom F@st 1704N combo modem/router (replacing an old fried Sagemcom 4300 single function modem) wired to a previously used Linksys/Cisco 610N router which was, and is wired to 3 WAPs in more remote locations.
Are these assumptions correct?
1 The new network SSID is coming from the 1704 combination modem router.
2 The old network SSID is broadcast by the remote WAPs, but not by the old 610N device.
3 Can a network printer (Brother MFC-8810 DW wireless network device) be configured to work with 2 or more wireless networks at the same time.
4 As a workaround is it it possible to configure a Windows 8.1 laptop computer using Bluetooth to connect to the router and printer.
My boss formerly had Windows XP installed on her computer. She downloaded Windows 8, just recently. Additionally, she downloaded the new Office, so it may not be a Windows problem. But none of her documents are printing properly. They look fine on the print screen, but they all come out with asymmetrical margins. We have tried moving the margins, but they still print with a larger left margin.

I had one of the WMC keys from the free promo so I added one of them. It basically overwrites the Win 8 Pro key if I'm right. So does that mean, that, in theory, I can use the Win 8 Pro key on another PC without this one getting deactivated ?
My experience is that I can move Windows license from one PC to another but it needs to be uninstalled on the first PC. (slmgr -upk is what I mean but formatting the harddrive / never powering on the PC again works too)

Accepted the option to have it synchronized with another existing Win 8 computer... it copied over all the apps and personalization settings, which was fine. But now I want to operate the new machine's personalization options separately. If I change a theme or something on one machine, it duplicates it on the other. Can't figure out how to de-couple the two machines.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem with Remote Desktop on Windows 8 RTM. I have two servers at home, with several virtual machine on them, and only uses Remote Desktop to connect to my servers and VM. I'm using Windows Server 2008 R2 on my servers and Windows 7 on some of my test VMs. I have no problems at all connecting to all my servers and VMs from my Windows 8 computer.
But I can not connect to any of my Windows 8 VMs. I have enabled Remote Desktop, I have added my user, I have set password in Windows 8, I have opened the firewall. But still, I can't logon from my Windows 8 Enterprise computer. It's only says that I use the wrong login info. But I use the right one.
Another strange thing is that I can connect from any other Windows 8 virtual machine to one of the Windows 8 VMs with Remote Desktop enabled. So I know all the settings is correct. And the issue is not on my Win8 VMs, but on my computer.
I have tested this issue on two computers now, one with Windows 8 Enterprise and one with Windows 8 Pro. I have found out that if I use a Microsoft account as user on my computers (not local account) I can't connect to any other Windows 8 computer. I can connect to Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7.
If I use a computer with a local account, I can connect to all types of Remote Desktop, also Windows 8 (all versions). I'm using Remote Desktop allot, and had plans for setting up a Windows 8 RDC VM on my server to use for my "desktop". But since I'm using Microsoft account on both my laptops, RDC do not work against Windows 8 RDC.
If I use a Microsoft account on my virtual machine, with the same logon info as my laptops, I can connect from my laptops also. But I do not want to use my e-mail and password on every virtual machine I setup, and I wont use local accounts on my laptops.
