View 2 RepliesMy mouse was working just fine. Suddenly it stopped working, however, the mouse still light up..
I tried other mouse, not working either with light on..
I restored the whole computer to factory ....
Tried different ports but not working..
But any other device works just fine..
Went to device manager, it's not under mice section..
And i tried to update genetic usb drivers but that didn't work either..
The mouse is has its lights on but the computer bit detecting it and not giving any message..
audio and pointer stuttering. As far as I know I haven't changed anything on my computer that may cause this but seemingly randomly this error has sprung up.
My audio glitches up at 10-20 second intervals, (sometimes even 2-3sec) and simultaneously my mouse stutters. I have tried updating drivers, and have googled but nothing has worked. This error occured around the same time internet shopping extensions were added to my google chrome without my permission, but I cannot recall which happened first.
Naturally I have run ASC and AVG as well as Malware bytes, basically all the anti-virus software I have, but this yielded no results.
I have looked in my services tray and discovered that vsmon.exe has a far higher CPU time value than I expect it to, but other than this I can't find anything unusual.
The stuttering has made using my computer frustrating, and it bothers me that a brand new laptop is wigging out. Prior to this error the only other problem I've had has been a random system crash which while scary, seemed to be fixed by a system restore, but what caused it.
I have an issue on machine (friends , so not in front of it now)
where the mouse moves on its own
windows version 8
Sony vaio laptop
if you move the sound volume up - it immediately moves down
on the start screen - the tiles are immediately moved to the left , and you do not have time to click on the desktop icon before its moved off the screen
on google chrome , if you goto settings
>advanced settings
>clear bowser data
click on the drop down for 4weeks etc - it immediately returns to 4 weeks - so you cannot use the dropdown to select other options
I'm running
Avast scan
Malwarebytes and superantispyware
it has the conduit search
I'm running Windows 8.1, and never had problems with my wireless mouse ad keyboard. But my keyboard has a real problem, and I tried with a normal PS2 keyoard. But it wasn't recognized. I read, that when we use a USB mouse or keyboard, the PS2 is disabled. I tried the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHIE/CurrentControlSet/i8042prt and edited the value of "START" from 3 to 1.
But it didn't work. Is there another way to enable PS2 keyboards again?
I'm using a ASUS Notebook K53E Series laptop computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1... I'm using a HDMI to project onto a HD TV I have a USB keyboard and mouse hooked up, both Logitech... The problem I'm having is, both the mouse and keyboard keep disconnecting on me... The mouse will go first' I'll move it from one USB port to the other, and it will work, but then stop working again... The keyboard will just stop working, even if I move it I can't get it to reconnect... I have to shutdown my computer to get everything to start working again, but it will only last about a half hour before they stop working again after the reboot...
I've went into the device manager, under Universal Serial Bus controllers > Generic USB Hub > properties > Power Management, and unchecked "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power... This does not work... I then uninstalled it, and rebooted my computer, still doesn't work... I then tried to system restore, I couldn't because I had no restore points, I then look if there was any system updates, there was, but minor updates, I updated them anyways, still no go... I'm only having problems with the USB mouse and keyboard... My laptop touch pad and everything else works fine...
today I was makeing an essey in microsof office and suddenly my mouse and keyboard. stopped working, replugging the devices didn't worked (did it for 5 times ) , after this I tried to restart the pc I found out that rr button doesn't do anything , after I stopped the power going to pc and open power + pc they worked for only a few seconds and then stopped again . After a few force shutdown( by stopping the power) the pc closes itself after the windos 8 img dissapear . I have a desktop dual core 3.1, 4gb ram , mouse is usb and the keyboard is with Ps/2 .

I'm using windows 8.1, 2 Screens detected and using the feature extend, however when I slide my mouse to the right it will not move to the next screen like it did on Windows 7, instead it opens the menu (the Windows+C menu).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was looking around to see where I could change my Mouse Sensitivity and I found a post on some website. It said to search "Change how your mouse works" in Settings. So I did, and it brought me to this screen: So then I saw you could change it to black and stuff. So when I saw that you couldn't change mouse sensitivity I switched it back to white and X'd the window. But my mouse is like that really low-resolution mouse pointer like in Windows XP.

It did not do this with windows 7.
I have an Acer Aspire M computer with a touch screen that runs Windows 8.1. I was having issues with the touch screen, so I went to download the drivers from the Acer website. However, when I restarted my computer to complete the installation, it wouldn't allow me to use either the mouse, touch screen, or keyboard.
Normally, after loading, a personalized picture will appear on the screen, displaying the time, connectibility, and strength of the network. The user is then supposed to swipe up, click on, or press space to move the picture, at which point the login screen appears. My computer loads normally when starting, but won't allow me to use the mouse, touch screen, or keyboard to move the picture out of the way, so I cannot access the login screen.
I have already contacted the Acer company support and attempted to use the battery reset pinhole, but to no avail. Is there anything I can do, besides a factory reset or using it as a cat bed?
since the last windows update Tuesday I have began to notice my mouse cursor moving around the desktop on its own. I never noticed it before the last updates.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have had to do a system restore on my desktop 2 times because the Microsoft update rendered my windows 8 desktop useless unless in safe mode, THEN it showed my mouse pointer. the unifying software shows the little orange unifying logo every time i move my mouse, but no pointer. so i just disabled Microsoft updates.
On the laptop, it's my friends and his mousepad/trackpad died so i gave him my old mx anywhere k360 keyboard and tried to pair it with the software, SAME issue. I am not going to system restore his laptop but i believe the mouse that's on my desktop is the 810 gaming mouse? I had to do a system restore twice and now it's happening on my friends laptop.
I disabled windows updates and restarted my computer because i installed a program. when it booted, again, no mouse pointer again, so it's not the windows update. so i had to do a system restore again....
The way the date and sidebar pop up whenever I use my mouse in certain places is very annoying.
How do I disable both of them?
Also, how do I disable password protected log-on?
WHAT Key shortcut emulates: put mouse in right bottom corner to appear right side controls?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I use the search function, not in a browser, but in the OS itself, it will bring up a Bing page of results. This page fills the entire screen and has no apparent way to close it. This also happens when I open a PDF using the native Windows 8 reader - the pdf opens to a full page with no apparent way to minimize or close it.
That's just the beginning of the problem. I have been just ignoring what is on that full screen by opening the desktop and just going about my work (hate the tiles, but that's a different story). However, from time-to-time, when I'm moving the mouse cursor and doing nothing but moving the mouse cursor, that full screen Bing page or PDF will just pop to the front unbidden. I can obviously reopen the desktop again, but this is a hassle, as this page-behind just keeps popping up and interupting my work. Worse, once it happens, it seems to happen again and again as I'm making the first mouse movement after moving back to the desktop. I literally have to open the desktop again and again 5 or 6 times before that document behind stops popping up. When I TRY to reproduce this, I can't. I can't seem to make the document behind pop up just by moving the mouse - but when I don't want it to happen, it does.
Since an update a few days ago my mouse is taking about 2/3 minutes to appear after going back to my PC after it has been left for a while.
I have checked all USB ports, used another mouse but it still has this problem, Once it gets itself going it is fine.
I have just installed Win 8.1 and can't find a way to select all files in a folder using only the mouse. I could do it under Win 7 by using Organize. Is there a Win 8 equivalent? I know about Ctrl-A but that is not what I want.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to disable the bottom right corner charms bar gesture? i can disable the hint no problem with DisableCharmsHint. however moving the mouse up the right side of the screen (starting from the bottom right corner) will still open the charms bar.
DisableTRCorner will both disable the top right charms hint AND the "gesture". Moving the mouse down the right side of the screen will not open the charms bar.
i cant seem to find a way to do the same for the bottom right. i dont understand why microsoft couldnt have added a "DisableBRCorner" registry entry that functions the same as DisableTRCorner.
I was wondering if there is a way in OS8 to alter the mouse/touchpad sensitivity and speed as was possible in OS7 and Vista. I have a 17" laptop and it would massively work with movement around the screen.
View 1 Replies View Related I think my toddler messed with some buttons on my computer today and now it is all wrong. First I tried using the keyboard to turn up the volume but this did not work. I looked into it and it seemed that my FN keys were reversed. So I followed these instructions: If the volume controls on your keyboard stops working, check the Human Interface Device Access service on your computer to make sure it is set to Automatic.
In the Start menu, type View local services.
From the Search Results list, select View local services.
In the Services dialog box, locate Human Interface Device Access. Make sure the status is set to "Started." If it is not started, click Start the service.
Right-click Human Interface Device Access and select Properties.
On the General tab, in the Startup type, select Automatic, and then click OK.
After doing this, I went to see if it worked and after hitting the volume keys a few times, my mouse disappeared. I restarted the computer, on the login screen the mouse worked fine. But, when I got into the computer the pointer was on the screen but would not move! Now I can't do anything.
A demonstration of the problem in action, and additional details about the problem and my computer are in this video:
View 5 Replies View RelatedMouse click to invoke Metro UI If you have a mouse with programmable buttons: The Windows Key is 'ctrl-esc' I have a Logitech mouse with programmable buttons. In the Logitech button settings you can program any button to go to the Metro UI:
1.) Go to your mouse settings;
2.) Choose a button;
3.) Select 'Keystroke Assignment;
4.) in the resulting 'Specify Keystroke' - Keystroke window:
5.) Simultaneously press Ctrl and Esc.
6.) Note: In the Logitech example, you cannot use your keyboard key-by-key to enter ctrl+esc. You must simultaneously press the control and escape key in the above window. [Hold down ctrl and esc] Worked for me.
Explanation:Windows 8 dumped me into the old W7 desktop when I exited an application -- even if I started the application in Metro UI. Then I had to go back to keyboard to press Windows key. Now I have a mouse button to get me back to Metro UI. Editorial comment - DWJ: I think Windows 8 should default to the Metro UI upon exit from any application. After many months of objecting to Windows 8, I now like it -- but I do not like the extra key press on the Windows Key [on the keyboard] to get me back to Metro UI -- where I started. If Microsoft wants me to use the Metro UI, then Microsoft should dump me into the Metro UI whenever I exit any app.

This is a significant issue and I'm having a lot of trouble finding a solution online. According most sources I look at, it seems that people are usually unable to figure out what the problem is.
I am among those people. I've tried everything that a normal user probably can try. I've checked the Device Manager, tried it with "Allow windows to turn this device off to save power" disabled for USB ports. I've tried reinstalling Windows entirely, and from different discs. All to no avail.
At this point I'm starting to suspect either my system has incompatibility with Windows 8 (my system came with 7), but Origin (my PC manufacturer) said it should be fine. It doesn't matter which USB port I put it in, the issue is still there.
The only thing I can think of now is it might be my mouse. It's an old black Dell laser mouse. But I would like to be for sure before going out and buying a new one. This seems to be a recurring issue among Windows 8 users, so I have a feeling that it may not be the mouse as much as the OS.
It often makes the sound of hardware being disconnected/reconnected as well, but not always.
Mouse works in game to look, shoot etc, but in the HUD/Setup options it doesn't, cant use it to change settings, or click on anything, its just dead. I can see the pointer, move the pointer, but that's it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently redid all my windows as it was time to clean everything out. When all was said and done, I only wanted my keyboard to be the only thing that wakes my computer. I've disabled everything (network adapters, etc) and the mouse within device manager. Yet, somehow - my computer is still able to be woken with the mouse. Is there something else that I'm missing? It's a Logitech G500, there is nothing in logitech gaming software I can find about this and it's already disabled in device manager (as well as any other mice that are listed).
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got a surface Pro 2 for work. In addition to the keyboard I need a mouse. normally a cheap USB mouse would do.
however, I also have one of those 4G wireless network USB dongles that takes the only USB port.
Can any of the other ports be used for a mouse? I think it also has Bluetooth, but ideally don't rely on a mouse needing a battery.
unrelated to this, how does one use the camera properly in desktop mode? All I read it is using the cloud? what? I just want to access the pictures I take somehow. and can the camera zoom at all?
My mouse works fine on the tile screen, but won't click when on the desktop screen. It moves fine and if I move it to the corner I can click on the setting button, but its anything on the desktop,or programs that run from the desktop that are effected.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Windows 8 64-bit ASUS VivoBook S200E as home media centre. The player is MPC-HC and the Bluetooth remote uses mouse movements and keypresses to browse the playlist and control playback. It's working very nicely, except for one problem - the mouse pointer is never visible! The only way to activate it is by making gestures with the touchpad (or with a mouse). That means getting up which isn't what remotes are all about . The computer has a touch screen, but that isn't used and doesn't affect the mouse pointer anyway.
I've been told that this behaviour is a Windows 8 "feature" for touch screen devices - the device being in touch mode by default and not displaying the mouse pointer until pointer movement is detected. I've tried all settings I could think of but nothing so far has changed this behaviour. Just to be clear, we're not talking about "hide mouse while typing" kind of behaviour. In this case, when the machine boots up there is no cursor, and it remains invisible for ever, unless you move a touchpad or mouse.
Is there some setting or registry value I could modify to change this behaviour?
Alternatively, is there some script I could use to just jiggle the mouse at startup? I've used Windows Scripting Host for things like this before, but the SendKeys method seems not to support mouse control.
I just installed windows 8 from windows 7. Everything seems fine so far except my mouse pointer is invisible. I can still click links and tabs but I just cannot see the mouse pointer. How to get it to show up?
