I have tried all my troubleshoot techniques(cleartxt, screen resolution, uninstal/reinstal monitor driver and graphic drivers ) but these seems not to work for my ,i brought the monitor home and I put with my computer it looked better but my clients looks worse when I returned it.

Magnifier Opens With Any System Notification Then Crashes?

Whenever a system notification pops up, or if I install something, Magnifier opens up. When I try and close it, windows suddenly lags to the point where my mouse is extremely sluggish and stuttering. I have to wait a good ten seconds before I regain control of the system. In Ease of Access, I have nothing checked.

Dell Inspiron 17R - Pinch To Zoom Quit Working After Installing Windows 8.1

Jul 6, 2014

I installed Windows 8.1 enterprise on my Dell Inspiron 17R yesterday. Everything seems to be working great, except for one thing. I just noticed that pinch to zoom is no longer working via the touchpad. I came to rely on this feature quite a bit when running Windows 7. There are no issues in device manager, but under Mice it shows PS/2 compatible mouse instead of Synaptics touchpad. How to correct this and get my pinch to zoom back.

Extended Monitor And Laptop Monitor Not Working

Aug 21, 2013

Today I plugged an hdmi to vga cable into my Win 8 sony vaio, and I plugged the other VGA side of the cable into an acee 22" monitor. I then chose from the right hand windows 8 panel to "extend to monitor", the laptop screen went black, the monitor screen remained without signal (extended screen did not show on monitor) and now the laptop screen is black.

I am now stuck and both laptop and monitor screen not working.

I tried unplugging cable, pressing fn and all the f1 to f12, shift, windows button but nothing is working.

I pressed off button then switched laptop back on and it showed the sony vaio logo on laptop then the screen went black again.

how could I return my laptop screen to work and stop the screen extension which is not working and which I am sure is the case.

Any buttons on keyboard to click at all?

Windows 8.1 - DPI Of Modern UI On One Monitor

Aug 30, 2013

Just installed Windows 8.1. Both my monitors have a resolution of 1920 X 1080. Both have DPI set accordingly. My right hand monitor is fine, my left is fine when running the desktop and desktop apps. However, whenever I run an app on the second screen, it seems to be larger than normal (zoomed in). I think this is a DPI issue, and Ive tried tweaking the registry but to no avail. I have all the latest drivers. The start menu only displays 4 rows, yet when i move the resolution down to around 1600, it shows 5 rows.

Graphic Cards :: New To Windows - Setting Up 2nd Monitor

Feb 15, 2013

I am running Windows 8 on a Samsung 350V5C laptop 6GB RAM.

I'm struggling connecting to a second monitor, the problem being my laptop connects OK VGA to VGA but doesn't stay connected. After 5 seconds i get the disconnected 'beep beep' then it immediately reconnects and again after 5 seconds disconnects again. I did get it to stay connected the other day so i know it works but is was pure luck and just trial and error, however, when i went to connect again i got the same problem, also when it did stay connected i just got 'duplicate screen' when i just want 'Second Monitor Only'.

Here's what I did: Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Display > Project to a second screen, then i have tried all 4 options PC only/Extend/Duplicate/Second only and i get the disconnect then reconnect every 5 seconds again.

Do I have to change any other settings, either on monitor or laptop?

Windows 8.1 64bit - Monitor Turns Off During Inactivity

Nov 12, 2013

I have my laptop connected to an external monitor with HDMI. The laptop is always plugged into the A/C,and its cover is always closed, so it's used as a desktop computer.

I have noticed that the monitor often turns off very quickly, sometimes after only a few minutes of idle time. This is extremely annoying, and I don't know how to fix it. In Power Options, the "Turn off display after" setting is set to 10 minutes on battery and 30 minutes when plugged in.

I am running Windows 8.1 64-bit.

Windows 8.1 - Startup Apps Won't Start If Monitor / TV Is Turned Off

Sep 22, 2013

My system os is windows 8.1. I connect to this system remotely regularly. When it is off, I turn it on remotely with WOL and it autologins into windows.

This computer is connected to a LG LED TV through HDMI port.

My issue is, whenever the TV is off, and I turn on the computer (remotely or locally), system boots up fine but the start up apps (those that I have put in Windows startup folder) won't start. As soon as I turn on the TV, windows will start running those start up apps. Needless to say that if the TV is on and I boot into wondows, start up apps start normally with no problem.

Whatever I tried has failed on me. I even tried to turn off windows 8 Fast Startup in power options but it didn't work. I originally had this issue in windows 8. So I installed windows 8.1 hoping that this issue would be gone but it has not. I tried windows server 2012. In server 2012, this issue does not exist and I have no problem with startup apps.

Maintenance :: LG Flatron W2753w Monitor Won't Wake Up In Windows 8

Aug 9, 2013

I am running Windows 8 on an AMD FX-8150 w/Liquid Cool with an XFX Radeon 7850 video card. My monitor is an LG Flatron w2753v.

After leaving my computer on for a certain period of time, the monitor goes into DVI power saving mode. On my old computer running Windows 7, when that would happen, I would either hit the keyboard or move the mouse and the monitor would wake up.

However now on Windows 8, when the monitor gets into this sleep mode, hitting keys or moving the mouse will not wake the monitor up, I have to physically reboot the computer in order for the monitor to start working again.

I went into power settings and set the computer to NEVER sleep.

Graphic Cards :: How To Have Windows 8 Boot Up On Single Monitor

Sep 15, 2014

I was having some problems with my dual monitor setup and while messing around with the settings I am afraid I messed it up a lot worse than my previous problems were. To keep it short, one of my monitors was not popping up (it ended up being the cable), but when I was in the settings I clicked the monitor to pick a "unknown device" as it was never detected. Now, when my computer boots up the main screen is the "unknown device" and the secondary screen is one of my two monitors. Because of this my screen only launches up as a blank gray screen. Typically one of my screens show this, while the primary one gives me the option to put in my password to login. Because this monitor which is my main monitor does not exist, I cannot get to my login screen. I know I am still on dual monitors because it will let me run the cursor off the screen as it does when I am using my monitors.

Basically, I want to boot up not on extended and only on my monitor (I tried the Win+P but it doesn't work on the gray screen). I also tried booting up in safe mode, but was unable to access it with Shift F8. Any simple solution to this before I have to do a reinstall of Windows 8.

Graphic Cards :: Windows 8 - Left Monitor Blanks At Startup

May 30, 2013

My dual monitor system has been working fine since new several months ago. The other day, I started experiencing a problem upon startup or reboot: The left of my dual monitors would be blank (no picture). After switching the monitor off and back on again (sometimes more than once), the picture would appear. No further problems during session. At next reboot or startup the blank screen recurred. It is not consistently blank every time. and It almost always now takes two times of switching monitor off and on again for image to appear.

I suspected a bad monitor so i switched the cables on my AMD Radeon HD 7700 graphics card. The left monitor is still the one where the problem occurs. So it is not a bad monitor.

I have tried deleting devices, reinstalling drivers, to no avail. I cannot find any options in Windows 8 for additonal options after trying everything under options/display.

How to get my left monitor working at startup?

Graphic Cards :: Standard Resolution On Widescreen Monitor - Windows 8.1

Sep 15, 2014

I have a game (ATCSimulator 2) that is not written for widescreen. The game tells me that in order to work in the mode I want the display must be set to a standard 4:3 setting. It gives the options of 1280x800, 1440x900 or 1680x1050. I tried to do this, but apparently my video card does not support any standard resolutions. I thought it might just show the screen stretched, but the game will not even go into the mode I want to use.

How I can change the resolution to display properly or possibly a workaround for this?

My video adapter is Intel HD Graphics 4000
Intel driver version 10.18.10.3277
15.6" display
Max Resolution 1366x768
Windows 8.1

Setup Installation :: Windows 8.1 64bit - How To Swap Monitor Identity Numbers

Sep 15, 2014

I have two monitors and when I boot up my computer the UEFI splash screen appears on my smaller second monitor, rather than on the main monitor where I want it, but the login screen appears on the main monitor. As I normally only switch the second monitor on when I want to put something on it to avoid obscuring what is on my main monitor this is rather irritating.

I am assuming that the reason for this problem is that my main monitor has an identity number 2 and the secondary monitor is numbered 1.

My setup is :-
Windows 8.1, 64 bit;
Asus RAIDR Express PCIe SSD;
Asus GT630-SL-2GD3-L GPU;
Asus SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 1 Motherboard, BIOS version 0602;
Processor Intel i7-4770S @3.1 GHz;
Kingston Technology XMP Beast Series 32GB 2400MHz DDR3 Memory.

Monitors :-
iiyama Prolite XB2776QS, (27 inch);
Dell u2412m, (24 inch).

I have tried uninstalling the drivers for the Dell monitor and rebooting the computer but it still comes back with an identity number of 1. There is nothing in the Nvidia control centre to enable me to swap the numbers. Is there any way of swapping the identity numbers over?

The iiyama is connected from the DVI port to the DVI port on the graphics card, the Dell connects from a DVI port to the HDMI port on the graphics card.

Graphic Cards :: Low Resolution On External TV / Monitor (ASUS T100 Windows 8.1)

May 15, 2014

I'm trying to use an external Samsung TV/monitor (model LN-T2642H) through HDMI. The native resolution of the monitor/TV is 1360X768, which is also the native resolution of ASUS T100.

If I try to use the monitor/TV as the only display, the device selected is Generic PnP Monitor and the native resolution of 1360X768 is not available for selection. Intel HD Graphics Control Panel only shows 1280X720 (selected) and 1920X1080 (too high for my monitor).

Is there a way to set up the 1360X768 resolution with the existing driver (up to date)? Is there another driver that I can download and that will allow this resolution? Can I use a different version of the Generic PnP Monitor that allows 1360X768 resolution?

With the only resolution available i.e., 1280X720 the quality is bad.
