Okay so i have a windows 8 and some tabs won't open sorta, they open but when i click on them they won't show up on the screen or anything, i've tried restarting the computer and sometimes even redownloading the programs and still nothing. The tabs are faded out like their opened but clicking on them does nothing, whats wrong with my computer??
View 1 RepliesOnly just noticed this but have confirmed other PC's exhibit this same behaviour. The tabs on the top line of the browser don't match the order of the preview tabs at the bottom. As you open other sites and open and close tabs sometimes they do manage to line up and sometimes not....
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 8 and for the last day or so, the windows icon, bottom left of the taskbar, is not working - it is there, but white - I'm sure it was yellow or so before, and it doesn't work. My windows key is working fine, but I've gotten used to the icon - especially if getting out of, say, a game and wanting to go back to the main screen. Also the right hand top hot key is also not working. What do I have to do to get these back again? I've tried cleaning the registry etc, - would it do a system restore?
Later......Actually it seems to have sorted itself....after trying lots of things, I was doing an update, and got a message that there was a problem, and it was shutting down and rebooting. Anyhow it seems to be working again. Now I know - if it happens again, I'll switch off and reboot!
After upgrading to Windows 8, the I.E. went to hiding, so I retrieved and pin it to task bar. Now, after I open it, it closes right away when I try to go onto a bookmark. The error message says "Internet explorer has stopped working" A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

I don't want to discuss the specifics why but basically I don't want to use my left hand at all sometimes during certain web browsing sessions.
How do I browse through internet web browser tabs with just right hand mouse? Without having to click on each tab. I just want to use either a button, scroll wheel, or an extension/add on that will make scrolling through tabs only right handed.
have been using AMD Drivers 13.4, recently tried the new 13.8 Beta drivers, but Catalyst only showed tabs for CPU settings, nothing for Graphics Cards, have tried a clean install and a overwrite of the software, but still comes up the same, have finally got back to using the 13.4 Drivers but only after a lot of hassle.

I almost don't use process and I always find myself jumping to details and services, is there anyway to do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis new sync tab feature in IE11 is handy. But it's also a bit annoying. I have about 7 or 8 PCs I use frequently and I re-install the OS all the time. So I end up with orphan machines that appear in IE 11 sync tabs and I can't seem to find a way to remove them. I also noticed that these tabs mysteriously disappeared on some of my machines.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFor my touchpad I use an unofficial driver (higher version and more tuned than official), which works nicely.
However it also installs some add-on to Control Pane lMouse, which causes about 1 minute delay (of waiting for Mouse window to appear), when I try to run Control Panel Mouse icon (for mouse pointers and acceleration). That add-on is probably new custom tab, however it don't show up, so I don't know. It is probably some DLL loaded at start maybe via Task Scheduler, maybe via system service. (I have already checked more common autoruns - both StartUp folders and also Run registry keys.)
I want to keep the driver, but remove that add-on, what causes delay (by identifying the file and renaming it). What is the best procedure to identify the add-on?
I love how Metro IE11 works now in Windows 8.1. I was using a reddit app, opened an article, and it spawn a separate window for the IE browser to read a link. Works great. But one day, when it launched the IE browser, I was hearing a video that was completely unrelated to the link.
So I bring up the tabs and I had like 50 tabs open! When I close the IE browser that spawns from reddit or from a newsreader like News Bento, I just drag the app to the bottom of the screen to put away IE. That didn't terminate the tabs. So it was tedious to close each tab independently.
is there a way to close all tabs immediately?
I've got a tablet that runs Windows 8 pro. When the keyboard is up it takes up half of the screen, making is difficult to see whatever it is I'm working in and I can't figure out how to re-size it.
I'm also trying to re-size the tabs in Microsoft Excel. I know how to do this in Window 7 but I can't find the proper place with in the control panel in windows 8 to do it.
When I get to the part in the Windows 8 installer that it tells me what needs to come to my attention, instead of opening a little browser inside of the program as I guess it's trying to do, it opens up 2 tabs in whatever browser is my default. This would be fine if the buttons in the web pages still modified the actual installer, but they don't and therefore the installer is effectively stopped.
I'm trying to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Key word: Upgrade. I would like to avoid re-installing the OS altogether, but I can do that by myself if it comes to that.

I read on another thread that making IE the default would fix it, but I tried that and it did not work.
The "Reopen last browsing session" is greyed out and staying greyed out in IE10. Is there a download fix that one can get or is there another way to fix this thrilling problem.

My PC is a dual boot system which had Win XP on disk1 and Win 7 on disk2.
When I installed Windows 8 several months ago, I chose to install it on disk1 and completely remove Win XP.
Everything works fine but my log-in screen now contains 4 start-up tabs instead of just 2 (see below):
Windows 8
Windows XP
Windows 7 (volume 1)
Windows 7
The only tabs which are valid are Windows 8 and Windows 7 (volume 1), the other 2 are non functional. How can I edit this screen and remove these tabs?
I am running Windows 8.1 and IE 11. When I have multiple tabs open and click the X in the upper right hand corner I get an option that asks me if I want to CLOSE ALL TABS - CLOSE CURRENT TAB. I always want to close just one tab. How can I suppress the display of the Close All Tabs - Close Current Tab question and still be able to close just one tab?

But I can't drag a windows from monitor 1 to monitor 2. I did remember to reduce the size of the window, but while it moves over to the side of monitor 1, it does not appear on monitor 2.

However, I have fiddling about for hours trying to find a way to have more than one window to view.
What I am trying to do is view my electric/gas & at same time I have my excel spreadsheet open on top, so I can input figures. In XP I was able to to do this.
In Windows 8, I seem to be permanently in full screen view & keep losing previous windows and I do not have tabs in the task bar or anything else to say what is open. Have I missed some setting? Controlling the windows.
I'm using StrokeIt software (which executes actions on mouse gestures), and I'm so used to it that when a Windows 8 app is open (let's say the 'Reader') I often minimize it with a mouse stroke hoping to return to the desktop but the app is simply minimized and an empty blue screen replaces it. How can the app be restored? Win+Up button don't work in this case. Can I set it somewhere that focus is switched to the desktop screen automatically after a Windows 8 app is minimized to which I can later return with let's say an Alt-Tab command ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedF4.I really disliked the fact that a slip of the hand that results in me pressing F4 means closing a window, so I went to BIOS mode and added the prefix of 'Fn +.' So I pressed F4 to try it out and it performed the exact same function. So naturally I tried pressing Fn + F4 and it did the same thing. I'm pretty irked that F4 = Fn + F4.
So the question of the day is: how do I prevent F4 from closing my window? I don't want to disable it completely because I want to attach another hotkey to it (ex: F4 = go back one song for a music player.) If I wanted to do that, I would've used Sharpkeys.
I am unable to drag a window from one monitor to the other when the cursor is at the top or bottom of the screen (both monitors are the same size and same resolution). It stops when in one of the hot corners forcing me to have to drag between the two corners. Any way to configure that?

Whenever I delete a folder in XP, if that folder is open in an explorer window, the window automatically closes. When I delete a folder that has a window open in 8, the window simply navigates to the default explorer location. When I an doing folder maintenance, I am basically ending up with a whole bunch of open windows.
Any setting I can change to make the window of a deleted folder close automatically?
How can I keep folder settings after I close window or switch to a new folder. Such as "Size All Columns to Fit"?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOnce something opens, even from desktop, it doesn't have a little red x in the corner and there doesn't seem to be a way to close it and return to where I was before. I can only either hit the windows button and go back to the page with all the apps, or swipe it down and do the same. But say I'm on desktop, I've got the internet open and I open up my pictures and double click a picture to see it larger- it then fills the whole screen and there's no way to go back to my desktop and what I was doing by just CLOSING it, rather I have to go back to the app page and then click on deskptop. Is there a way round this?

This is good, but I just miss one thing: I can't attach a program/shortcut to the taskbar that is not my main screen/taskbar.
So I have to go to my main screen to open a program from my taskbar.
Windows 8. I can't find anything except how to change colors via the 'personalization' screen for desktop background etc. You used to be able to change the color of the actual program window background's color but I can't figure it out. Is this not possible anymore?
