View 14 RepliesI accidently added the "Yahoo Toolbar" to my MIE-11.
I followed the standard instructions for removal.
I went to "Tools" then "Manage Add Ons".
The list of Add Ons appeared. When I click any other Add On in the list the "disable" button lights up.
When I click on "Yahoo Toolbar" the "disable" button does not light up so I am unable to get rid of the toolbar.
While on MIE11, I tried clicking on the "X" at the left side of the Yahoo Toolbar. Two choices appear :
(1) Hide Yahoo Toolbar temporarily
(2) Disable Yahoo Toolbar permanently.
I can Hide the toolbar but when I click on the option to permanently disable the toolbar I get a message that says "This action is restricted. Contact your system administrator".
Went to control panel uninstall software , couldn't find Yahoo Toolbar on the list !!!!
I set it at 125% but inevitably it resets to 100% sooner or later.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since the feature 'about:tabs' has existed in IE, I have been using it as my home page. 90% of the time, if I open IE, I will want to launch one of the ten most often accessed pages.
Since installing Windows 8.1 and IE11 which came with it, 'about:tabs' is not working consistently, most of the boxes remain empty, and those that previously were filled become empty. What changed?
My IE11 doesn't respond after the Windows 8.1 Update1, I have tried sfc /scannow and Dism command to repair but the result is same,

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 8.1 and IE11 always hangs after about 1 hour, all tabs do not respond and the top of the page says Internet Explorer (not Responding).
I can leave it for a couple of hours and nothing happens, when I right click on the IE on the taskbar and select close window an error message comes up that IE is not responding and if I click "close" nothing happens, if I click search for solution and restart, a new IE restarts but the original stays and remains "not responding".
Even Task Manager cannot close it down I have to reboot to get rid of it.
I believe I have the attest version of IE11 (11.01)
The cubes in IE11 are empty even I enter many sites. I don't know how this happen.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy problem is since updating to 8.1, whenever I fire up IE11 on desktop mode a Windows Installer box shows in the middle of the screen saying "preparing to install" and the box continually flashes and the webpage will not load. Why this happens! IE works fine in metro mode and I cannot find any logs in Event Viewer with regards to this problem.
PC is a Dell XPS8500, seven months old.
I installed the windows 8.1 update. In the new internet explorer 11 every web site i visit, every link i click on either a new tab opens or a pop-up appears with some random advertisement. the only way i can make it stop is if i increase the security for the browser threw internet options, however if i do that it also doesnt allow images to load any more. in addition, sometimes the add will appear on the left hand side of the webpage and squish the content of the page to the right making it unreadable.

(Now I'm not sure if this is in configuration - but it never worked like that before -- I got returned to my Google search query). screenshots shown.
right clicking on the browser back button doesn't achieve anything - I'm really used to it popping down a list of the previous pages so I can hop back for example to the search engine results list page which I had about four pages ago etc.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHow to set the IE11 in Win 8.1 to only print a web page in Black and White. In Win 7 I had found it but with great difficulty and I believe it was in Internet tools if you drill down far enough. In Win 8.1 I cannot find it so that when printing out a web page that has red and blue it is almost impossible to read on my Dell 1700 monochrome laser. I tried in the Devices and Printers, Dell, both Printer preferences and printer properties but cannot find anywhere to set. I am fairly certain it is a setting that has to be made in Internet Explorer but they seem to have hidden it (I think I was using IE9 or IE10 in Win 7). In Excel you can set that parameter for each page in page setup.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWindows Updates (the one recommended to run Automatically) installed IE11 which brakes many websites, which created quite frustrating situation and highlights why Windows 8 is a complete failure, as is 8.1.
The only way that IE11 can be uninstalled is via the Turn Windows Feature On or Off, as it does not appear in the Uninstall Programs list. When I did that iexplore.exe got deleted, having same issue trying to downgrade from IE10 to 9, so essentially I have no IE now.
Trying to install IE10 manually gives a "IE10 is already installed message", but of course it can't be launched without iexplore.exe, and the only option I'm left with is to turn IE11 back On. I have read that IE is now part of the Windows 8 OS.
When I try to run the videos at this site, the black window for the video opens, but no video appears to run. Using MS Defender for AV, and have tried disabling pop up blocker, with no change. I can run the videos with my Win7 laptop which also uses IE11 and Defender. The difference between the two setups seems to be Windows 8.1. What I could change for settings to get the video to run.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter I launch IE11 and then close it(with all tabs), then I open the Task Manager on the Processes tab and there are 3 IE11 instances still open and no matter how many times I end these tasks, they'll immediately open again, consuming my ram AND CPU. That's why I started using Chrome. Still, I'd like to know what causes this bug with IE11 in 8.1.

Is there any way to add a website to compatibility view settings and that it will stick?
IE11 seems to have a strange "Feature". When you close a Web site with an active download the whole thing closes and the download disappears -- IE 11 shows no windows open.
However press CTRL+J and you'll see the download lists again. If there's no activity press PAUSE and then press RESUME and then it should continue from where it stopped.
To some this might seem obvious but I've seen people re-start a 2hr download because they thought they had lost their currently active download when they accidentally closed the web site.
IE Desktop (Menu bar) Favorites always seem to sort by name. Want to manually shift high usage items to top like I could with IE8. Have disabled Add-ons (Classic IE, Logitech SetPoint, Shockwave) with no effect. Looked in IE options for a sort or drag/drop setting, but didn't see anything.

this is a clean install with little/nothing loaded on it, about to be deployed for real work so its important.
unable to connect to one particular website using Windows 8.1 with IE11 or Google Chrome.
Always get message...."This page can't bedisplayed", then when I check box to fix connection problem a dialog box displays message, "The remotedevice or resource won't accept the connection... xxx(web site) is not set up to acceptconnections on port 'The World Wide Web Service HTTP'."
There are no problems using IE11or Google Chrome in connecting to any other site(s) or exploring the internet. I do not have any 3rd party antivirus or malware protection. Have tried many different suggestion found in searching the web but no luck yet.
IE opens, but doesn't function properly, won't display web pages and the settings are all greyed out. running 8.1 Pro with Media Center 64 bit. Ran SFC/Scan, but got the error that it found corrupt files but couldn't repair them. Then I couldn't find the file cbs.log to see. I also turned off IE11 rebooted and turned it on then rebooted with the same result. I did have a virus (which I can't remember the name). that is gone but now this.
Here is screen shot, it is small. It is just a "white screen"
So I just did a clean install 8 upgraded to windows 8.1, I'm pretty sure I got all my drivers installed.
but for some reason IE11 looks fuzzy.
