Setup Installation :: How To Delete Windows Xp Without Safe Mode
Jul 29, 2013
i recently installed windows xp , but now i cannot boot my previous windows ( Windows 8 ) and now i want to delete windows xp so the problem may be solved
so is there anyway to delete windows xp without safe mode ? because when i run safe mode , it stuck on mup.sys and sometimes classpnp.sys
After windows 8.1 update (via windows store free upgrade) the system will go through its initializing sequence then go to a black screen w/ pointer.
I have this issue both in windows and safe mode. I have attempted to follow these steps and while I can try this, non offer the ability to install anew driver. Here it stays.
I have read this is normally caused by a graphics driver issue. In several cases the thread was closed, as the user was able to resolve the issue... but left no conclusion.
Laptop is ASUS Q400a Asus Q400A-BHI7N03 Specifications:

It would appear (now), during step 8 here, that the ASUS driver (VGA_Intel_Win81_64_VER101810330802) should be updated for 8.1. This seems to have been the missed step. This doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere. This is an observation is from self deduction.
My screen seems to have a grey filter overlaying it. See attached.
When i booted it in safe mode, the screen is showing the right vibrant colors. When i booted it back to normal mode, the screen is greyish but strangely the mouse is showing the correct white color.
I have googled across numerous website but none of them bring me closer to the issue. I have read the thread, Personalize Suddenly Greyed Out but this is not what i encountered. The options or buttons or selections did not grey out, it affects the screen only.
I cannot afford a system restore because i shared this laptop with my gf.
I'm currently using windows 7 and want to install 8.1
I just launched the setup, and on the window where it asks what to keep, the only option is 'Nothing'.
Does windows 8.1 setup delete everything I've got on my current partition, or will it transfer my current system into a windows.old folder like Windows 7 Setup does?
Does Windows 8 have a Safe Mode and were do I find it. the reason I ask this is because I have tried going into Safe Mode in Windows 8 by hitting the F8 key so I could run my virus scanner to see if there are any virus that it may not be finding under normal mode. But when I reboot my computer and try going into safe mode in Windows 8 nothing happens.
I was trying to get AMD drivers working properly so that FIFA would stop crashing. I read somewhere that installing the latest AMD Catalyst Beta with separate Intel drivers would work. I tried that, rebooted, and now I have a black screen after the Windows splash logo, with my mouse pointer visible if I move my mouse. So clearly something went wrong with the graphics driver installation.
No problem, I'll just simply boot into safe mode, uninstall the drivers, and experiment with some other drivers. But no. F8 doesn't work, I know. Shift-F8 doesn't either. So I got my installation media, surely there would be a way to boot into safe mode with it!
Here's what I get.
There's supposed to be a 'Startup Options' button here, but for SOME reason, it's not. I have no clue what to do. I cannot fathom HOW Microsoft managed to make booting into SAFE MODE such a puzzle for an end user.
Some more background: After a similar graphics driver adventure last week, I got into safe mode (phew), tried to uninstall AMD drivers. I got an error about how this the installer cannot run in safe mode (what?!). I tweak some registry key to get it working. It failed to uninstall properly. I rebooted, and then I was absolutely unable to get OUT OF safe mode. Nothing I did changed that, each and every time Windows booted to safe mode.
I can't remember the last time I had such a bad experience with a Microsoft product. backing up files in my C: drive and simply installing regular Windows 8 over this. BUT I can't access my C: drive via Ubuntu because Windows has LOCKED that partition because of it's fast-boot nonsense.
My disk situation is as in the attached screenshot. I have two Windows 8 installed on 2 different partitions of the same SSD. Now I would like to remove the first installation, Windows 8 (H: )
The problem is that the Windows 8 (H: ) partition is marked as System, Active so from reading the forum I know there may be some problems with bootmgr... but I can't understand exactly what to do.
I can't boot into Windows 8.1 at all or even safe mode..I have tried startup repair etc etc ....I also tried the bcdedit trick to boot directly into Safe mode with the command prompt option no dice either..I would rather not do a refresh or reset pc..Matter of fact I have tried both options and even with a clean 8.1 disk I can't ....It gives me the error message remove cd or media and restart no matter whether i have the disk on or not. i think it might be a problem with the boot or something or its booting to the wrong device perhaps a USB ? i do have bitlocker on the drives and when i got to do a startup repair it asks for my key and i obv have it on other media which is my usb which won't read the key from it anymore..
I have Lenovo laptop with Windows 8.1. I enabled safemode and restarted my laptop.on Login screen, it asks me to enter microsoft account password and my wifi is disabled. When i enter the password, it says password is incorrect. How do I login?
how to boot into safe mode in this final RTM or Msdn version of win 8. I know that in the release preview version of win 8 you had to manually activate safe mode through command prompt...is this still the case in this version of win 8?
I cant log in, into my account, I was trying to customize my windows 8 themes, folder, appearance .etc
I watch a vid in youtube were it showed me to change a file named Shared32.dll
I am sure it was this file that cause it to kinda mess up... Icant boot safe mode because of this...
When I turn the computer on it goes to my log in and password title... but I try to log in , and it does nothing....It shows this "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded". I tried to boot in safe mode but it doesn't show nothing ...
I cannot log in... so basically I am logged out forever...
I recently tried to update my graphic driver through Windows Update and it caused the screen to go black. I thought I would be able to boot in safe mode and restore the changes, but it does not seem to be as easy as that in Windows 8.
I can access BIOS with F2, but nothing happens when I hold down or tap F8. I have tried to search around for a solution, but they are either not working, require the OS-CD or me to be able to log in somehow...
Here's my situation. My computer is running Windows 8.1 There is only 1 physical HD, but it has many partitions. Here is a picture of my current HD setup
The problem is that the WRE partition is literally sitting between my C and D drives, so when I shrink the C drive partition, I cannot extend the D drive with the unallocated space because it is not sitting right next to the D drive (I'm trying to shrink the C from 370 to ~60 GB, then extend the D from 550 to 850 GB with the C drive's unallocated space).
However, I found something called "AOMEI partition manager", which will let me shrink the C drive, extend the WRE partition with the unallocated space, and then shrink the WRE partition to get the unallocated space next to the D drive so I can extend it. So I'm basically using the WRE partition as a middleman between the C and D drives.
I'll still have the WRE partition (after extending and reshrinking it), my system partitions, recovery partition and everything like that. I just don't know if resizing the WRE partition like that will make it nonfunctional or something, even though all the data will still be on it.
FYI I have already created a full hard disk image with Acronis of the current hard drive setup before trying anything. I also have a USB drive that is bootable with a Windows 8.1 ISO that I was initially going to use to just completely format the hard drive and use Acronis as my recovery program instead of Windows recovery partitions, but I'm too worried about the EFI boot partition and all that stuff and possibly making my computer unbootable.
I have a windows 8 partition and vista partition. I want to uninstall VISTA, how do I do this? Do I set windows 8 as my active partition and just delete VISTA partition under disk management?
My computer lock-up after 2 secs log into windows (due to drivers problem). I need to boot my computer to safe mode directly and use driver sweeper to fix the problem. However, I'm not able to get into safe mode. (F8, Shift+F8) doesn't work neither.
I am trying to run sfc /scannow to try and fix my boot problem but I keep getting "windows resource protection could not start the repair service"
I have found a few threads that mention this but they go off on a tangent and do not deal with what I am facing.
I have the original Windows 8 CD but it has never managed to fix a thing for me, it just says it cannot! I really cannot to a clean install as all of my work files are on there!
My system failed to start automatic repairs, so I decided to enter safe mode by pressing f8 in the blue screen and f4. However, it does nothing to my computer, it just reboots and no safe mode.
I am running windows 8.1, had red flag fom norton clicked on to fix and got stuck never completed, some how i got into safe mode and can't get out of it and can't connect to internet.
Yesterday morning when I tried to start my laptop.. I couldn't... After d windows logo loading session.. i get a blurry blue screen for few seconds & den d system restarts & d same continues..
Windows is booting fine in safe mode .. I am unable to start in normal mode..
My dad restored his computer to its factory settings while Windows 8 was in safe mode, attempting to remove a virus, and now every time the computer is booted, an error message appears, saying that Windows is not able to install because safe mode is still active. Is there a way to disable safe mode so that Windows set up can be continued?
Last night I updated windows 8.1 from windows 8. It got to the stage where it needs to restart so it done that started the configarations and once it reached 100% it restarted.
Since then what happens is when i press power on the samsung logo comes on the screen then the black screen with the windows picture then the bsod comes up for around half a second and it restarts. then it constantly does this.
The whole cycle only takes a few seconds.
Ive tried booting in safe mode but this isnt working so I downloaded kav rescue on another computer and saved it on a flash drive, But it wont boot off this either.
I've noticed that there are a lot of folders in C:Users<user>AppDataLocalPackages and their names sound like Metro apps. The folder contain subfolder for Metro apps I no longer use and even have uninstalled them.
The question is: why weren't they deleted next to applications uninstalls and is it safe to delete them manually?
I was having a problem since my computer shows "windows cannot delete the active system partition on this disk". How to delete the partition on which i have windows 7 installed.
now that windows 8 no longer has safemode or the old F8 menu how do you remove a stubborn virus or malware that after booting attepts to lockout the user and prevent other programs running. back in older versions you could boot into safemode or boot from a bootdisk and cleanup, so now whats the procedure ?
I am using Windows 8.1 with all the latest updates.
I'm trying to get into safe mode, but when I do it is only a black screen with in each corner it says "Safe Mode" and the whole screen blinks every few seconds resetting the cursors position. The cursor and text are only visible when I am moving the mouse, otherwise it's all black. I can't do any button combinations like CTRL ALT DEL or anything.
Normal mode works fine, and I can't think of any viruses/malware that work allow you to work in normal... but not safe mode.
I have all my Windows 8 options disabled (Windows 8 mode, fast boot, secure boot) to see if it was those but to no avail.
Every time I try, I have to go into safe mode. It sticks, so I can't just reboot/reset and go back into normal mode. I have to go into the emergency cmd and do bcdedit to delete the safeboot value.
I usually clean my PC every so often, the same with OS re-installation but nothing is wrong with the normal mode and the OS still seems quite fast with the SSD.
I have never seen safe mode function, this is the first attempt at running it in safe mode. What could cause this? I can't get into safe mode but can get into normal mode...
I had to boot into safe mode for virus removal and now all it will do is boot and start safe mode, then reboot again. It just keep doing it over and over. This is a new upgrade to a windows 7 pro OS and I am using 8 pro.
Cannot boot in normal mode. Tried to do that by going into the advanced repair and doing a normal startup, just keeps going back to safe mode and as soon as the screen starts to open it reboots.
