I'm having trouble with installing Java. My PC mentioned that my java version is too old and that i need to download and install the latest version, but when i do. it reports an error of being unable to download it.
Here is what it said, unable to download [URL] .... for installation.
It says: Windows can't be installed to Drive 0 partition 2. (show details)
After I click that I get a 'Windows Setup' popout that says Windows cannot be installed to this disc. The selected disk has an MBR Partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks.
I bought the sony laptop with single language pack. The OS language is in spanish. I need to change the language to english. How to change the OS language in single language windows 8.
I just changed the wifi card in my laptop and forgot to back it up first. After changing it it failed to boot because of a recent hardware change. I downloaded a copy of windows 8 pro to attempt to do a repair install, and did the automatic repair option but it failed to do it. Is there a way I can get my system to boot without reinstalling the OS?
I only have a Windows 8 Single Language key purchased. They mostly sell that version in my country. But I need to perform a clean install of Windows 8.1. How can I do this? How to get the ISO? I can't install 8.1 PRO ISO with a generic key and they use the SL key to activate right?
Laptop with pre-installed Windows 8 on it. The salesman at the MediaMarkt said that these Laptops are already with pre-installed Windows 8 and also assured me that I can choose English as a language when I am running the laptop. But, when I installed it, the system chose German language and I am really having trouble to understand everything now. My Problem is here how to install Windows 8 with English language and another thing is when I installed the program, it has asked me an Microsoft E-Mail address, but by mistake I installed it with my gmx.de E-Mail address, which means that I am unable to use the Apps in the Computer as it has been asking only Microsoft account, I cant deactivate my gmx.de account which I used when I installed the OS Windows 8 to this Computer.
So I want to set German as my display language but the control panel does not let me download the Deutsch(Germany) language pack. Are there any websites where I can download the language pack?
When I add new language interface and Windows 8.0 (and 8.1) starts to download the languagepack from WU, is there any option to track this download and find the storage location of this MSI/CAB/MSU ...?
If so, where is it stored? Is it deleted right after extraction?
I have successfully upgraded 2 Windows 8 pro media centre PC's, a desk top and a netbook, but the 3rd, gets stuck in a continuous loop.
After initiating the upgrade from the store, the download bar slowly works its way up to 50%, the installation process starts, and as soon as it gets to "getting your PC ready" the download process starts again from scratch. This is a very common problem, but Microsoft are still silent on the issue.
It is bad enough that I have to download the file 3 times, rather than just download one ISO, but this one download has now happened at least a dozen times.
All Windows 8 updates had been done and I have cleared the Windows Store cache.
The setuperr file gives
MOUPG SetupMgr: Error reading Store SQM registry data. Data = [StoreSetupDownloadPause], HRESULT = [0x80070002] 2013-10-20 07:23:30, Error MOUPG
For a project I have to install Windows 8.1 64 bit on several machines including updates.
As you can imagine updating each machine individually can be extremely time consuming. I was wondering if there's a way to manually download all the latest windows update files and put them in the Windows 8.1 ISO, so that once Windows is installed on the machine it will be up to date. if I haven't explained myself correctly
I upgraded to 7 to 8 Pro using usb to do clean install. I want to reinstall again from usb and change the system language from French to English as not everything comes up in English by changing language settings. Device descriptions, system accounts, bitlocker screens are still French.
Is this possible? When I try the installation instructions are in French. Do I need an English ISO or can I change the one I have?
I am on a limited speed line and Windows 8.1 has started to download the update. I now find that is it is some 3G in size and that will take days. How can I stop the download?
How can I stop the download of Windows 8.1?
Effectively I cannot do any online work until I can stop the download hogging the limited bandwidth.
Somehow i incidentally downloaded Windows 8.1 ( which i do not want to be installed to my Sony Vaio Laptop) but i thought that i will just download it , and NOT INSTALL IT ......and i DID NOT INSTALL IT , since after upgrading , it asked me if i wanted to install windows 8.1 , and i selected NO ..... my laptop turned off , and when i turned it on , now a black screen appears with the white cursor moving around the screen..... I click the Assist button , and i can't get a sony vaio care menu ..... Basically nothing displays , no configure ... I am stuck and can't use my laptop anymore
The name of the apps in the metro are in different language than English so how can I change the language? and also when I click right click on the desktop I see the options in English in addition to another language so how can I change it to be all in English?
I am new to windows 8 and when I click right click on the desktop I see the options in English in addition to another language so how can I change it to be all in English?
I have clicked on the download button in the App Store (used a link obtained from the Verge article). My screen just jumps to the main App Store screen, and I see no indication that anything is downloading or in progress.
How can I verify that a download is in progress?Do I have 2 downloads going now that I did this twice?
Background:
Originally had Win 7 Home Premium. Used the Win 8 Upgrade Assistant to upgrade to Win 8. (I have a Windows 8 key.) Installed the 8.1 Preview
I previously got windows 8, I accidentally installed the German version, it took me about a hour to figure out how to change the language. Once I changed it, mostly everything's in English, but some things like the lock screen is still in German! this is getting pretty annoying.
I just got a new laptop, a Lenovo X230, for which I paid extra to have the OS on it as Windows 8 Pro.
So--now I have it, and Win 8 Pro 64 is installed and activated on it. I am a legal owner of Win 8 Pro.
However, I would like to do a clean install of Win 8 on the computer, to have it free of bloatware, etc. (In fact, I would like to set up a multi-boot with Win 7, and perhaps even triple boot with Xp as well. (I have installation media and my product keys for XP and 7 though, so those are not really a problem.)
The computer came with no discs at all. There is a procedure to make recovery disks. I may do that, but I think those will be to restore the computer to how it came from the factory, and therefore not usable for a clean install.
I don't see my product key for Win 8 anywhere. Not on the computer, not on any kind of card that came with it, etc.
I looked at the tutorial here for clean install of Windows 8, but it requires an install disc and product key. I have neither, although I am a legal owner of Windows 8.
Is there a way I can create (from my installed Windows 8) a win 8 install disk, that can be used for a clean install? Or a link to download one? Is there a way I can get my product key?
Using Windows 8.1. I have English and Japanese input languages added, and both are listed as options in the language toolbar, but it is impossible to select anything but English. Windows+Space allows me to navigate to Japanese, but releasing the keys or pressing Enter does nothing. The Left Alt+Shift shortcut also does nothing.
i'm wondering how to change my language preference. i've followed the guides on Input Method - Set Default Language in Windows 8 yet i'm still having troubles.
when i install my windows 8 this afternoon i set my location into indonesia. so all of my settings was in bahasa. i've done as the guide said but in my "START", things like Music, Weather, Pictures and some others are still in their bahasa language. while others like Maps and Computers are already changed into English.
My ex wife (Chinese) gave my daughter a Sony Vaio Duo 11, it is all in Chinese and for the life of me i cannot change it to English. I have tried a factory recovery, Still comes up in chinese, i have tried changing the language and nothing is available for download. I tried installing language packs but all failed with one reason or other.
Have Recovery Media in English for this machine, I have purchased a Windows 8 Pro Full edition to install but obviously will not contain all the duo 11 drivers and Vaio care files. But I guess I can use the Registration Key with no problems. (I hope)
So far I have wasted 4 days trying to do this, and everything is still in Chinese, the model number is SVD112A1ST.
Having bought my Acer PC in Spain (where I live) it came with the Spanish version - I've changed the user side to English but the background (?) language is still Spanish - how to change it? Could be difficult in the event of a crash or similar as my knowledge of Spanish is fairly limited.
How do I change the USB port that Windows to Go listens the drive while in use?
I have this computer, with an Asus P8H61-LE Motherboard. As you expect, it doesn't pack USB 3.0 ports. But it does come with some nifty PCI-E x1 slots, so I've bought a random USB 3.0 PCI-E card, with 40 pin for front panel. Works amazingly. Fast and beautiful, exactly what I've expected. BUT, it doesn't have its own BIOS or something, so my UEFI BIOS cannot boot from devices connected to it. In fact, it doesn't even detect anything there until I boot up to the O.S.!
And I have this Windows to Go Setup. Works like a charm on USB 2.0, but sometimes I feel the bottleneck, and wouldn't hurt using my only USB 3.0 device on those USB 3.0 ports, eh? I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting it on USB 3.0, but WTG just ignores it as if it weren't there. Even when I connect to a different USB 2.0 port, it doesn't detect.
This USB port remapping would serve for other uses too. Once, I've connected my drive to a client's computer, for repairs. But it took longer than I expected, and I had it connected on the front USB. I needed to connect other thumb and external hard drives and had to use the rear USB ports for this, because WTG didn't detect anywhere else.
I have been having several issues with Windows 8 (more specifically Windows 8.1).
My Toshiba U845T-S4165 has been dropping WiFi access, switching to "Limited" WiFi status, or cannot connect to my network whatsoever. The most aggravating thing is that this happens at seemingly random times and frequency. I can go a week or two with no issue and then one day I have constant problems where I can't connect after repeated tries. I have trouble-shooted everything I can and have tried some workarounds I found online. I finally contacted Toshiba and all they did was delete my network driver and redownload/reinstall it. That seemed to stabilize the problem for about 8 days or so but now I am having consistent issues.
I have read that many people started experiencing this problem after upgrading to Windows 8.1. While I can't say with absolute certainly that my problems began after upgrading, but they may have. So I am trying to revert to Windows 8. Now this would be a seemingly easy process however ignorantly and stupidly I did not create recovery media after I initially bought the laptop and built-in recovery drive has been, again stupidly, deleted during my upgrade process to 8.1. So in short, I have no recovery media.
I did find a source online that sells Windows 8 downloadable software that I can download, burn to DVD, and then start from scratch. However, I must provide my own COA. I used Belarc Advisor to find my current COA. However, this COA is associated with Windows 8.1. So my ultimate question is: Will this COA work with a Windows 8 recovery media? Did the COA change when I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1? I don't want to start this process and then get screwed midway through because my COA isn't valid when downgrading.
I am trying to upgrade from windows 8 pro to windows 8.1 on a samsung laptop. The download completes and installation starts.
After a while the following message appears "you cant install windows on a usb flash drive with setup"
I am not actually trying to install to a flash drive. I contacted Microsoft and after 5 hours they said that I should connect to the internet with a cable and not by wireless in order to solve the problem (this didn't work of course and I had told them that it was an install problem and not a download problem).
