I always find MYXML file appearing in the C Drive when i start my PC at the end of the day when i delete it and start my PC again the next day it appears again .
Random stutters appears when playing video file and whenever i move the mouse it just fast forwards and will be sync to audio, and when i leave it again, after a few minutes it will be back..
Had, and still have installed in machine, an SSD with Windows 7 as OS Had, and still have, a Western Digital 2 TB external HD attached. It was used as back up for the original set up. This also has the Smart Ware software installed but which I have not used.
Tried a dual boot on a new SSD using Windows 8.1 recently but turned out ot be a pain so I simply installed 8.1 on new disk.
When I boot and Windows 8.1 starts, window showing the external hard drive and contents appears. How can I stop this?
I am planning to reformat this external storage and redo the back up using the new 8.1 OS and current content of the my other HDD containing our data, will this likely stop the "pop-up" on start?
I have been trying to add a .exe file to my Startup files. But for some reason the file does not run at the start up.Take a look at the screenshot to see the setup. cW8oETE.png
The paths which I did use are:
C:UsersDyonAppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsSt art MenuProgramsStartup C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsStartup
Is there another way to add files to the Windows 8.1 Startup files? I have done some research on Google but did not find anything.I have also tried adding a key to the register which did not work either. For the registery I have used both using the direct .exe and the .lnk file. wYMGhdU.png
Today I installed a sound card driver called 5Hv2 sound card game. The disc was so small though. At first the setup didn't work due to platform error I think so I ran it under Windows XP SP3 compatibility. So then it works and asked me to reboot the system.
After restarting, the startup was taking longer than usual. The ASUS logo screen stays for about 3-5 minutes then the blue screen appears but it is so fast that I could not see the error message or code. I thought maybe because the cd was still inside so I quickly open the drive and remove the cd. After the blue screen, it restarts automatically then only I can login. I checked the Minidump folder and found nothing. I also used the SF_Diagnostic_Tool and Grab All but no Minidump file.
I thought maybe the drivers of the 5Hv2 sound card was not compatible on my laptop but it works. I use my Siberia headset and use the sound card with no problem. But I wonder what's the issue here, I don't want another blue screen when restarting.
Recovery. Your PC needs to be repaired. The boot configuration data file is missing some required information.
FileBCD Error Code: 0xc0000034
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disk or usb device) contact your system administrator or pc manufacturer.
I recently went to command prompt on my main pc and did : chkdsk /f /r on my main computer.
It said "the current thing is in use, would you like to run check disk on startup? (Y/N) I put Y, then restarted my computer. Then it was stuck on 27% for about an hour, so I got worried and restarted my computer about two or three more times. it says "scanning and repairing drive (C 27% complete)" and none of the times it would load regular windows so I decided to just stick with it.
It's been over 3 hours, and it's still stuck on 27%. How can I disable it or how long will it take?
system info HP desktop 12gb ram 2 tb hard drive windows 8
Also I tried f8 and it just brings me back to system restore, and when I tried that it just gave me a black screen, so i'm just letting my PC sit and do the C: repair
I have a Lenovo Ideapad and recently completed updates for it. I shut the computer down properly (at least I thought) but when I go to turn the computer back on after a few days, the "shutting down" screen appears and it will not go away. I am able to move my mouse but nothing else. This has been going on for almost an hour.
I have a Toshiba lap top that operates with Windows 8. When I powered up yesterday, the computer turned on, the Toshiba logo displayed briefly as it always does, and the cursor was visible on the screen. But other than that nothing appears on the screen. I've tried powering off then back on a few times, as well as cont/alt/delete, and neither has worked.
I moved File History from one drive (E) to another (F) and although FH shows in F drive, it isn't recognized in "select a drive" in FH. The only option shown is a new drive (G) I installed for Media Recording only and the FH folder isn't there at all. How do I get FH the F drive to be recognized to enable for backup?
I've recently installed a second DVD drive, and it's not appearing when I open File Explorer. I see it listed in Device Manager, Disk Management, when I click on My Computer, and the drive works fine. Everything is fine except for its absence from File Explorer. how to add it to the list of drives?
I tried to save 4 movies on a 4GB flash drive but only had room for 3. I then started over and compressed them to 4 zip files but the flash drive will still only hold 3.
After a recent Windows update I now have the desktop taskbar appearing when I go into Metro apps. It's annoying because it often hides some on screen info.
I prefer not to use the "auto hide" option and I have not enabled the "Show Windows Store apps on the taskbar" option.
So every once in a while when I boot up there is a work group icon on the desktop which I cannot delete. The only way I can remove the icon is to reboot. What is the icon coming up for and is there a way to remove the icon?
I need to replace a file in windowssystem32en-us and it gives me a deny file to be copied how can I do this so I can copy a file or replace a file. how to gain access.
make the 'file history' feature work. I keep getting the 'No usable drives were found' message along with a recommendation to use an external hard drive. My PC rig has a 240GB SSD (C drive) and a 1TB HDD (D drive) - both internal obviously - but I don't quite understand why there's no way to use the D drive to make a complete backup copy of both the system and the Documents folder, etc. that are on the C drive. I clicked here and there and somehow ended up creating a backup copy (a folder called "WindowsImageBackup") on the D drive but that seems to be a copy of the Windows system only and excludes the Documents folder. how to make the file history work so as to make the complete backup on the D drive?
I've been using File History with an external HDD. I now want to use a USB Flash Drive instead. Although my computer shows the flash drive in the devices area, I can't get File History to see the flash drive and use it for back ups. I'm running Win 8.1, and the flash drive is a USB 3.0.
I purchased a new SSD drive for running windows 8, while installing I unplugged all of my other drives in my machine including a WD 2TB drive I use for files. I cannot seem to get the Windows 8 installation to be able to access the drive when I select it it says "F: is not accessible. Access is denied" after following the instructions below. The drive is recognized by the machine still, I just cannot access it from this Windows 8 partition?
"Access Denied" or other errors when accessing or working with files and folders in Windows

I used file history on 8 but since 8.1 upgrade It has stopped backing up my Work Folder or my SkyDrive folder/library, how to add these folders to File History?
I've been running the official Enterprise build of 8 for a few days now, but it seems some things are glitching on me that didn't in the RP and a glitch is occurring that has been occurring since the CP.
For starters, in metro IE 10, there's sometimes a text lag where I type but it isn't instantly shown. It happens on a random odd occasion. That didn't happen with the RP but did with the CP.
Another odd one is with Recycle Bin. If there are several items in it and I delete them, the progress bar appears and shows the operation is complete (in the address bar). But there are still like five things left in it, but refreshing the view shows everything is gone, seems likes a render issue that has been prevalent for me since I think the DP.
Also, there's an awkward amount of time from the boot screen to the lock/logon screen that normally and socially accepted. There's just a black screen for about 15-20 seconds then the lock screen appears.
I've found a bug in Task Manger in the Startup tab. I know for a fact that there has to be AT LEAST five startup items, but in the Startup tab, it doesn't report any startup items.
Other than that, everything is working fine. But it seems boot time isn't as fast as usual, maybe due to the startup items issue, but it's all solid.
I have bought my laptop before 2 months and i have BSOD since then , nno matter what im doing ... Once it happened while there was no one using the laptop .
p.s.2 when i bought the laptop it had linux installed ( i think ) or it was ready for install . Could the problem come from there , and if yes what can i do about it . Im not so known with those things . Ive heard about a hidden memory which should be deleted (if there was linux before ) and its going to fix the problem , but i dont know what is that memory and where i can find it. Ive send the laptop on authorized repair service of Acer ( cuz my laptop is still in guaranty ) , and yes they didnt fix it .... 2 times ... the first time they gave me the laptop with new HD , second time they told me something about a "weak connection" that they "fixed". BUT my laptop is still here and i ahve BSOD randomly 2-3 tiems a day , and every game crashes after 10-30 mins after start . I wil lsay it again - the BSOD appeared once or twice without me even touching the laptop
I have a hp envy running Windows 8.1. I recently ran a system restore, and ever since it has run the hp logo, then gone to a black screen and stayed there. Things I've tried:
Boot in safe mode: No change. Startup Repair: Said it couldn't fix it, but I can't get to the log file to find out why (is there a way to access windows explorer from then startup repair menu? Maybe using the command prompt?) System repair:Said there wasn't enough hard drive space. Another system restore: Didn't work, blamed my antivirus. (McAfee) Full system reset: Said there was a drive partition missing.
What I could try to resolve any of these? I have access to everything in the startup repair menu(f11), as well as the BIOS, but I'm not really sure where to go from there.
I have been using File History (in Windows 8 and 8.1) to an external drive connected through a USB 3.0 port. Since upgrading to 8.1, the 3.0 port is unreliable (Renesas driver errors) and I have not been able to find a solution. So I reconnected the drive through a USB2 port. When I restart, the drive is recognized in Explorer as "File History (E" as it was before. But File History will not recognize it (Unknown Error). When I use "Select another drive", I am given the option to select my File History drive, but when I do so, I get a prompt about moving files from the old drive to the new one. Since they are the same drive, needless to say, this doesn't work! If I decline the option, I get an error message "Could not enable File History - The system cannot find the file specified".
Any way (short of re-formatting the drive (which would destroy all previous FH backups) and changing its letter!)?
I am trying to to back up my files, using file history, but the program will not recognize my Iomega portable hard drive. I keep getting this error message every time I try to back up the files.
"File history does not recognise this drive"
There doesn't appear to be any problem with the Omega as I have copied my files to this and double Save when modified.
It seems this problem has been around generally for a long time now as W8.1 search turns many pages on this and I have tried several of the suggestions without success.
I have moved all of the user file from the c: on to any hard drive can move appdata folder as well also is there way new users file are automatically on the other drive
I have a hard drive connected to a hard drive caddy, and am using it as an external hard drive: and it contains various audio/text/video files, and these were added to the hard drive when I was using windows xp
Now, however I find some of these files are "locked" onto the hard drive - I cant move them anywhere else. If I try to do this I get the message that I don't have administrative privileges to do so I have tried disabling uac but it situation still the same.
My Pc has only one user account (mine) and I am of course, the administrator accordingly. because I installed windows 8 myself with just me as only user.
I take a File History snapshot every night. I have had to do a restore of my c: drive and need to apply my File History for four days. How to do this because I have never done it before.
I have a Samsung R580 laptop and bad things appeared two days ago and continues until now.
The first thing happened is my computer freezes while I'm doing normal things with it. No way for Ctrl-Alt-Del, no way for soft reset. All I could do is Power off the computer, and then turn it on. After turning on, I saw that the system could not boot but stopping at POST screen. If I Ctrl-Alt-Del at that time, it can boot to Windows. If I let the system freezes again, the procedure returns. If I shut down Windows by myself, the next time I turn on the laptop is OK, no freezing at boot time but freezing in Windows will be a certain fact.
The symptom returns after some random time. Maybe 1 hour, maybe more or less.
Initially I thought it was the cooling system problem. I had the laptop to service, they clean it carefully and the heating problem could be bypassed.
Nevertheless, the problem still came after I brought the laptop home.
I wanna seek for minidump file. Things I did to have it are as follow
The OS did not ask me to restart but I did it to avoid any complicated things.
The crashes still occurred and after a long time waiting, I saw this BSOD screen
After a long time waiting (the record of waiting is the amount of 5 hours 30 mins), the collecting process is still 0%. No minidump file found.
I formatted the C: partition and reinstall Windows 8.1. Just Windows and Firefox, no more softwares. The BSOD problem still occur, but the error code changed to CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIE. Still no minidump file.
Just today, my desktop's been unable to boot into the login screen on Windows 8.1 due to a blue screen that appears for a split second, and forced the PC to restart. Some of this, I think, should be surely linked to the GPU, as it's left me with a black screen and loud fan noise about three of four times today. Each time I've restarted the PC, it's been able to to get back into Windows, though this time it's just giving me a BSOD that I can barely see at all.
What I'm wanting to know is how can I get it to show me the information for me to diagnose it. Could I use a shortcut on the keyboard, or will the information be saved somewhere?
