Hardware Drivers :: How To Turn Off New Hardware Detection

Any way to turn off the detection of new hardware? I have almost all services turned off and it keep detecting a secondary monitor. I'm using an ELO 3200L with a dual core computer module windows 8.1 Pro with all current updates. I try disabling the secondary monitor and it just installs it again, I even disabled all monitors, and it install 1st monitor and second monitor. I also then deleted both monitors and windows just keeps installing them both.
Somehow windows detects a second monitor, installs it, the it will disappear on its own, then it will install it again, sometimes it will do this every 5 or 10 seconds. I figure if I can turn off "New Hardware Detection" This would solve the problem.
I have been a member on another forum in which use to recommend MSE to everyone and these days they are saying that MSE recently has been suffering from a low detection rate, I currently rely on Windows Defender but I am considering installing Avast!
I have a pretty good keyboard at my pc and i am sure that nothing rong with it but some times it just stop working, and the all the lights turn off with no warning, after that, about 1-2 min the keyboard just keeps pressing up to 10 sec the key I press...
I was trying to install Windows through a usb on a PC. It had an installation of Windows 8 already and worked flawlessly. I had then tried accessing the BIOS and I turned off Legacy boot. Ever since then, the PC shows no display. It would first give a few beeping sounds (I don't know the exact number), and outputs such as the mouse, keyboard etc had lit up. Now, however, it gives 3 BEEPS and the keyboard and mouse do not work. In both occasions, there would be no display available. Specs are as follows: Intel i5 2300, 8gb of Ram, Intel DH61WW, 550W PSU
What I've tried: Making sure nothing is loose (ie wires), clearing any dust, disconnecting everything but the power.From what I've researched, 3 Beeps indicates a ram or motherboard issue. The CPU, GPU, PSU and hard drives seem to be running, however. The light on the motherboard also turns on.
I fail to understand why on a laptop (which has no touchscreen) why you would want to have the swipe gestures?
Surely most folks don't look at the touchpad in use, so it is often that one starts off to the right (especially when the pad is off centre), and it is natural to move to the left to find where one wants to start - hey presto the charms bar opens, and if you're not carefull all sorts of events occur which you really don't want.
Any way on my Lenovo Z580 with synaptics 8.1 we have the worst of both worlds - there is no easy option in the Synaptics settings to turn off the gestures, so the option is to do registry editing to the key TouchPadPS2_3 - I have amended the Active Type dwords from 2 to 0. However there is a side effect of this.
When booting, there is now a delay till the process finishes - we now get blue circular processes next to the pointer for approx 40 seconds.
What other edits we need to make to remove this delay?
Instead of using my thumb button to go back a page in my browser it now moves whatever window I'm in across the screen from pinned-right, to center to pinned-left.
How do I disable that feature and get my back button functionality back?
it happens from yesterday, the problem is when I playing games on my Dell inspiron N4050 and then the main power where the charger pluged in is turn off (it is the most problem in my country that there is heavy short fall of power), the laptop is remain ON just for 2 or 3 seconds and then its suddenly OFF. its not happening before, why is that,? why is the laptop didn't get power from the battery.? . when not playing games. and the main power (electricity) is gone, then this problem is not occurred.
My system (Windows 8) was shut down during a power outage, and now when I try to restart, I hear the CPU go through what sounds like the normal process, but there is nothing on my monitor. I've tried the CPU with another monitor, same issue. I can access the shared folders from another computer on the network, so it looks like everything starts up OK. Before I run down to the local repair shop, is there anything I can try?
I was having problems with my new computer (HP Envy m6, running windows 8). It was not signing me out properly and would not shut down. I thought that maybe I just needed to update the windows software. But upon updating the software and turning my computer back on it gave me a black screen with one blue box that says "Selected boot image did not authenticate. Press <Enter> to Continue. If I press Enter the computer the computer turns off (turning back on displays the same message). If left on nothing changes and it will continue to run the computer.
Any way to turn off and on my monitor with just click? I know how to turn off with click but in seconds Monitor will on automatically.. I think its because mouse movement. Thats why I wanna know how to TURN ON MONITOR WITH CLICK.
I have Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit and I have 2 LOCAL accounts - First is 'my' account which is administrator and pw protected Second 'Guest' account which dosent have any pw
Most commonly any member of my family goes in my computer under Guest account and here goes the fun..
For example I go to sleep i log out or shut down my pc.. member of my family turns on and in account login automaticly goes to my pw protected account, he/she has to press the little back arrow to show all the users and go inside Guest account. Now he/she has done work he/she shuts down the pc. In the next morning I power on my pc AND HE AUTOMATICLY logs in/goes into guest account, so i have to wait those valuable 5-10 seconds as he loads in(and yes this IS annoying if it happenes once or twice a day), then I need to press sign out and then I can press to my admin account write pw and login into my acc! So basicly he rememberes last user and automaticly logs in, if the user dosent have pw then he proceeds in signing in if it has pw then it stops to a pw..
How to change this? I want when i power on, he goes into account login screen(where he show all the accounts) and when I press the acc I want - as it always has been!
P.S. Log On User Account Automatically at Windows 8 Startup from this turtarial I have check'ed the box from option one step 3, but guest acc dosent have any pw so its useless....

I can't get the tablet to just to turn off the display without going to sleep which i noticed will kill any active data connection (downloads, video buffering, updates, data logging)
I noticed that the value of "turn display after" in the power options must be the same value as "put computer to sleep after"
After some search on the internet about the "connected standby" and disabling the "desktop activity moderator" by using " sc config dam start=disabled "But i couldn't get it to work
I installed the win 8 upgrade on my desktop yesterday. I have two monitors connected but only one of them was working, even though I upgraded the drivers for the graphicscard, I wasn't able to enable the other monitor. This is, however, not my problem.. As part of me trying to figure it out, I hit the "Devices" button in the menu and disabled the only monitor on there. I thought it was the one which wasn't working, but it turned out to be the one already working, so now none of the monitors are on and how to get them working again.
I'm guess that I'm looking for some sort of a keyboard shortcut to enable the monitor again.
I have it set up just like I did with Win7. Screen saver set for 10 minutes, monitor power off set for 15 minutes. The problem is, the monitor doesn't turn off! To be more accurate, it DOES turn off at the 15 minute mark, for about 1 minute. Then it turns back on and the lock screen shows. Then after 1 minute, the display fades out to black, but the monitor itself is still on.
even disabling the lock screen, but nothing works. I've never been able to get the monitor to turn off for more than 1 minute.
I currently have a taskbar shortcut to Mouse so I can fairly quickly turn ClickLock on/off when I use Outlook. I need this because I have so many nested folders that it's a real issue if I accidentally move a folder inside another one.
Is there any way to create the shortcut for just the ClickLock choice?
Just installed my downloaded Windows 8 Pro (clean install), and I got a little problem. How to turn NumLock ON at boot? I have a pincode instead of the long password for my live-account, so I want to use the numbers before logging in.
XBMC (my htpc software) can not write changes to secondary drive as when I turn off Read-Only it automatically turns back on again.
I can give further information but i didn't want to swap you guys with details unless they are needed, but just in case it is a windows 8 machine running as a HTPC and connected to a windows 2012 server domain.
I recently install Left 4 Dead on my laptop and it changes my font to bold, not only in the game but all in my system, my default font is now bold.
I uninstall the game but the font was not changed. I went to Font Settings on Control Panel and make it to default, it now go backs to normal but not for all programs.
For instance, my Firefox's font was still bold, changing to default also I can't. So how do I turn all fonts back to normal? Look at image and see how my Google looks like, it's bold I want all back to normal. I think the font is Arial Bold.
I have recently built a PC myself and had no issues whatsoever, until the other day when an Action Centre notification popped up. For some reason, Spyware and Virus protection have both turned off automatically and when I am prompted to turn them back on, I get an error saying "Action Centre can't turn on Windows Defender. Please try again later."
I have tried the services.msc method and tried to activate WinDefend that way, but encounter another error "Windows could not start the WinDefend service on Local Computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."
I have looked up this issue with no resolution yet - as most of the solutions are for people that have installed third party Protection Programs like AVG, Norton etc.
I haven't installed any programs like that, and have also checked in the Control Panel to make sure one didn't install itself automatically with an install of another program.
I built a custom PC about a month ago, and did a clean install of an OEM copy of Windows 8 with no problems. Upon launch this past Thursday, I downloaded the Windows 8.1 update from the store, which I like except for one problem:
Shutting down the computer by pressing the power button or "shut down" from the charms bar power menu shuts down Windows, but leaves the computer itself on and running, case fans spinning and all. Oddly enough shutting down the computer using the menu I get by right-clicking the new start button shuts down the computer properly, and that is the only way to do it without flipping the computer's power switch. That said, I would still like it to work 100% properly.
I'm in need of installing IntelliType 6.x to be able to use all functions of my Microsoft Office Keyboard, but the Program Compatibility Assistant doesn't let me, even though I've correctly set the policy rules (as described here) and even turned off the Diagnostic Policy Service.
The only options I have is "get help online", which tells me that I should download the latest version, and "close" which doesn't run the installer at all.
I understand the program might not work, but Microsoft should at least allow people to bypass their "Let Microsoft decide for you" BS (which I've met like six billion times by now) and let the idiots (i.e. me) take the risk of ruining their computer if they want to.
when i installed win 8.1 i was having the secure boot issue it since resolved, but i notest that it did nto encrypt my drive like it suppose to and it doesn't even show up in PC Info for encryption so how do i turn this on? I have a Alienware X51 revision 1 with Bios version A12.
