Mar 6, 2014I downgraded this laptop from 8 to 7. The only driver I'm having problems is the USB controller.
I went to the HP we site and selected the Windows 7 driver but I get an error:
(This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.)
I have downgraded many machines now and this is my 2nd one that I have had issues. My last computer I had to grab drivers from a computer that was close to the same model.
I tried the programs DriverMax and Slimdrives and they found an USB controller driver that seemed to work but when I plug in the flash drive it does nothing.

Problem: Driver need troubleshooting (unavailable) but i already install?
1)having problem when install the driver from HP support and downloaded the correct driver which is window 8.1 64bit.
2)when i click install, getting to the usb connection part, it said connection fail (usb connection is really fine, i tried it with another window 8 and window 7 laptop..successful, but my window 8.1 can't).
What i have done after i found the driver error?
1) delete the old driver
2) reinstall the driver
3)try to use update driver option from device manager (comes out this error: The system cannot find the file specified)

Dec 19, 2013Previous summer I upgraded my computer to a more up to date with 8GB RAM. Inevitably, I had to backup my data and install 64-bit version of Windows 7. I could install and use most of my devices, except an old Pinnacle Studio Pro analogue TV tuner PCI card. After some search, I managed to find custom 64-bit drivers fot BT848/BT878 cards and instructions of how to sign them, so I could use them in normal mode. After following the instructions the drivers worked fine in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit! OK, the original application Pinnacle Vision didn't work since it looks exclusively for Pinnacle's own 32-bit driver, but I could use the card in Nero Vision, Pinnacle Studio Pro, VirtualDub etc.
How did the problem arised: I recently upgraded the computer to Windows 8 and then to 8.1 so I have the latest version. Some devices were replaced with Microsoft drivers and others were not installed. I downloaded latest OEM drivers and managed to make all devices work at their full potential again, except the Pinnacle TV tuner. I went to advanced startup options and loaded Windows 8.1 in the mode that ignores driver signature.
I then attempted to manually install the custom BT848 64-bit drivers from Device Manager, since there was no setup program. As you may know, the card appears as two devices in Device Manager. One for the video part and one for the audio part. The audio part completed sucessfully. But the video part displayed the message "Error 39: file not found". The same driver worked OK in Windows 7, so the missing files should be Windows 7 system files that are not present in Windows 8. Is there any way to see which files are these so I can copy them from a Windows 7 installation? How I can determine which file was not found when I see error 39? Is there a log file or what?

Mar 29, 2014So my computer (HP pavilion HPE) BSOD'ed for the first time yesterday afternoon (running Windows 8.1, upgraded via download from original Windows 7, so I don't have a recovery disc). Along with the error code, the BSOD says that File: WINDOWSsystem32winload.exe is missing or contains errors.
I have tried pressing F8, Shift+F8, and holding Shift on start up, and nothing works. I know I'm supposed to upload dump files with this post, but I can't/don't know how to get my computer to the point where I can access these files. I can access the HP Startup Menu by pressing Esc on start up, which has an option to display System Information (not sure if below info is useful or not...):

Jun 18, 2014I have a friend who has an HP Pavilion G6 running a 64-bit edition of Windows 8.
He brought the laptop to me telling me he had issues connecting to wifi networks. I did the normal check to see if the PC was detecting the Wifi Adapter itself by going to Device Manager > Network Adapters ..only for me to get there and find out there were no Wifi network adapters, only a "Realtek Ethernet Controller". I checked HP's website for the laptop's model's wifi driver, downloaded and installed it and got a prompt that the driver wasn't installed correctly.
The F12 key that's supposed to turn the wifi adpater on didn't do anything. I decided to do a system restore to the last time my friend told me it was working and yet nothing.
I'm guessing its a hardware related issue and I might have to open up the network adapter compartment of the laptop and place the adapter properly. I'm so confused right now.

Sep 15, 2014Issues I've been having with my PC and mainly from trying to play ARMA 3 which has seemed to be the root of my Display Driver Errors and Crashing (Not sure why as this game was running perfectly for the first 3-4 months I bought the PC brand new and downloaded the game from STEAM...
Ok so here's some background on my PC and where I'm at:
Well I had ONE crash a month ago and haven't been able to get ARMA 3 running right since, it started while crashing when trying to connect to the a MP Server, it basically went all Display Driver Error crazy with lines and boxes jumping on the screen then went into complete crash mode, after trying all of the Display Driver Error methods of fixing (ReInstall Drivers/Beta, launch parameters, etc. none seemed to work) ran IOLO System Mechanic software scan and fixed the problem for a week or so then it was the same old problems once again...of course *sigh...
Then, I did a complete system Restart where I fully cleaned my files and PC, re installed Windows 8.1 and all that, now after I reinstall Steam/ARMA 3, all is running good on my PC, no Display Driver Errors or any BS, but then I start up ARMA 3, tweaked some of video settings and went to Exit the game and it all crashed and burned and went back to Display Driver problems again!!!??? Also wondering if my ACER model PC Monitor could have anything to do with the crashes? (its about 6-7 years old but still has a 75hz Refresh Rate dunno if that can cause Disp Driv Errors?)
I've done system REFRESH and RESTART and even tried the newest AMD Driver and Beta Drive for my Graphics cards....the main problem seems to be the Distorted Lines jumping on my screen and boxes when I right click start ICON go blank or have werid lines in them as well...I also have the PC settings pop up saying my Windows is not Activated/Registered? I can recall that it seems like this problem happens after I run the Windows Recommened & Important Updates (after a Fresh Re-Install of Windows) that the Disp Errors start happening...
How to properly install Windows 8.1 on an AMD Radeon PC and the proper drivers I need or the way I need to install them? I read somewhere that You need to have Windows Defender off when updating the display drivers?? I bought IOLO System Mechanic which seems like it does a lot but wasn't able to solve my issue last night, did a complete Restart this morning and my PC seems to be running fine but I haven't run ANY windows or driver updates yet or installed ANYTHING... My PC came with the Windows 8.1 install Disc and MSI Driver Disc.

Jul 21, 2014Today I purchased a Dell Inspiron 3000 series laptop, running Windows 8.1 Update 1 64-bit. However, whenever I shut down or reboot, I get a BSOD with the error, DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. Strangely, it only occurs when I am running on battery power, and after the up time of the machine is 7 minutes. If it's plugged into AC then I don't have any issues.
The minidump shows that the problem seems to be caused by NTOSKRNL.exe.
ODBC Driver Manager Error - Database Source Name Not Found
Jun 25, 2014I have been trying to install a product called Thumbsplus which was giving me a ODBC Driver Manager Error - Database source name not found and no default driver specified error.
After trying a fews things I starting looking at the ODBC Data Source Manager in windows 8 and noticed that I could not access the System DNS tab. ( I would get a warning " you are logged on with a non-administrator privileges. ) even thought the account Is an administrator account. So I logged off and entered in as administrator and still the same message.
Something is wrong and I suspect it has little to do with the thumbsplus program as I should be able to enter into the system dns tab without receiving this error message.
PS: If I say OK after the dialog message the manager with open up and allow me to click the add button but since I dont know how to add the apropriate info there I did not go further, hence to say the error message probably did cause thumbsplus to not install correctly.

Mar 11, 2014The BSOD displays "system_service_exception (win32k.sys)" when I launch TreePad Business Edition (Treepad Business Edition: All-in-one Organizer, PIM/database, Word Processor, notes manager, search engine, Web site generator and much more!) from the PC or SD card; same result in XP or W7 compatibility mode. After searching for the error code, I am reading this relates to a hardware driver.
TreePad shows Windows 8 is supported on the home page (Treepad: Personal Information Manager, Notes Organizer, Word Processor, PIM, Database and more!) but not on the Business Edition page. As well, while running the install wizard, Windows 8 is listed as compatible. Attempts to contact TreePad about this issue and to verify supported Windows' versions have been unsuccessful.
Getting Warning Box Message - ALPS Driver Has Found IOCTL - Error 320?

I keep getting this warning box message. "ALPS driver has found IOCTL - error:320".
Click ok and message box goes away, but keeps displaying every attempt I log in.
Is there some new Alps driver I need to download?
Never had this problem before I applied 8.1 updates.
Debugging :: Driver Power State Failure Error - BSOD Using Windows 8.1
Jun 13, 2014I'm using a ASUS S56CA ultrabook which runs VERY SLOWLY (takes 5+ minutes to boot up)! OS is Windows 8.1 with ALL the latest Windows Updates installed.
I get the BSOD error "Driver_Power_State_Failure" usually when trying to enter sleep mode or using the Instant ON feature from ASUS .. neither of them work properly so after researching online I've decided to REMOVE the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST) RAID Driver .. reboot and it's still VERY slow to boot. I've also tried to d/l new drivers from the ASUS website (only BIOS and few others) which were also installed but still get same results. The Intel HD 4000 Graphics is also out of date but I cannot d/l the update from the intel website .. shows file not available?
It also does NOT shut down completely .. select Shut Down from the menu and screen goes BLACK but power never goes off .. so I must manually hold the power button 5 seconds to shut down.
Finally, I've turned OFF ALL power saving features in Power Options .. no sleep .. no turn HDD off, etc.
I need to know how to fix this system so it does NOT take 5 minutes to boot up.
I'm also attaching the last 4 minidump files for review .. plus I'll use the SF utility tonight to get the other suggested files.

Aug 1, 2014When I start A3, it boots up just fine, then when I try to start a campaign/showcase mission or Multiplayer server, the screen starts getting horizontal lines jumping on the screen/blurred blocks sometimes as well, and then my computer either freezes up or automatically restarts, sometimes I can close ARMA n goto desktop but that gets whacked out as well doing the same thing basically on my homescreen. It then proceeds to do the same thing to me when I'm just on the desktop trying to open Google Chrome or any other task for that matter, still getting the "Display Driver Has Stopped Responding and Has Recovered" in the bottom right corner of Windows.
I've literally tried everything regarding troubleshooting this matter and to no success: Updating Drivers/Windows, Tweaking Catalyst CC settings, Disabling Hibernation, Even Refreshing the PC (Windows 8.1), Booting in Safe Mode (MSConfig), scanned for Viruses, complete Reinstall of ARMA 3, ... This has been driving me crazy the last few days and cannot figure out for the life of me why it is doing this now?? ARMA 3 was running great the first 4 or 5 months I've had it and has never had issues like this, it seems it all started after trying to join a server Online and then it crashed and froze and has been doing this Display Driver Error stuff ever since (I did recently download new Mods as well).. Do complete PC Reset is necessary? I mean after the PC Refresh, my desktop and everything else was running amazingly fast and smooth, everything was up to date, I re-installed ARMA 3 and tried again to play this morning, sadly the same errors occurred and Lines are jumping all over my screen and everything is lagging. Sep 15, 2014ASUS X55C notebook I had windows 8.1 installed and my comp stop reading blue rays, so I called tech support. they told me to mail it in. they change my HDD cause a bad sector and installed normal windows 8 but changed my dvd/cd rom drive to matshita dvd ram. I use to have matshita dvd ram UJ8A0AS and it did play blue rays. now i'm calling back and they are trying to tell me that my model doesn't play BR's. that's the reason why I bought my computer. their call center verified all that. so can I add that driver to my device manager.

Usually it lags most when i turn on computer, it takes a lot of time to load files, and strange thing happens after i turn it on. Just a few seconds after windows loads pictograms on dekstop windows strangly loads them again... I checked my disk usage, it goes to 100% sometimes and when its at 100% windows getting laggy. Usually reinstalling windows works, but I cant reinstall it atm, I got a lot of important stuff in it (and I made one disk). I am using windows 8.

Hardware Drivers :: Two Printers After Driver Installation?
Jun 22, 2014I've just set up a clean system installation (Win 8.1 PRo x64). As a part of it I obviously installed my printer driver. The printer is Lexmark E260d and I use Lexmark Universal Driver downloaded directly from Lexmark's webpage.
My surprise is that after installation I have two such printers available at my system:
- "Lexmark E260" - which is the name I gave during installation,
- "Lexmark International Lexmark E260d" - which is another device appearing as a printer.
Both drivers / devices (?) print correctly yet I can see some differences in their functionality descriptions, when choosing Properties / Hardware. Lexmark E260 device has there "Print queues" only while Lexmark International... device has three types "Printers", "Print queues" and "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Another thing is when I double click on devices icons in "Devices and Printers" window - Lexmark E260 brings well-known list of documents actually being printed and Lexmark International... brings printer configuration dialog allowing to see printing documents, customize printer setting and so on.
Why I have somehow two different printers appearing on my system? Should I remove one of them and which? How can I avoid duplicating devices when installing drivers?

May 1, 2014Last night two updates from MS, KB2919355 & KB2961887 were installed. Today the driver for my Epson R3000 printer was gone. Windows 8/8.1 seems to have a problem with this printer, even though Epson claims it is compatible and provides updated drivers. When I updated from Windows 8 to 8.1, it replaced my Epson drivers is a very basic MS generic driver. I had to manually install the Epson drivers again. That was a pain, and took several attempts. Is there a recommended way to install a driver that works?
