Graphic Cards :: Dell Inspiron 15 With Windows 8 Is Not Recognizing AMD Rad

Yesterday, I restored my Inspiron 15 to it's factory settings. Post-reset, I installed all drivers for Windows 8 directly from the Dell website except for the AMD driver which I took from the AMD website (just wanting to get the latest directly from the source, I guess). I also used that "Dell Detect" thingy to make sure I have all the latest drivers for everything.
After installing, everything worked great, but I realized that when the display turns off / when I shut down the laptop / when I close the lid, it does not turn off the computer or hibernating it or making go to sleep - it just keep running but there is no display, total darkness. Trying to press the power button / F4-F5 / any other button-pressing related solution did not work, only hard-reset.
Googling this issue, I found that it is very common, and many people with almost brand new Dell laptops, just like me, have encountered the same problem. In most of the solutions offered it was said that doing so would cause the system to mainly use the Intel Graphics HD card and not the AMD, meaning that for games and graphics, the AMD won't matter, which doesn't seem to be fair after paying extra exactly so I can have a dedicated card.
Either way, I started with the first which was using Windows Update. After checking the Windows Update updates list, I saw 2-graphic card related items - something called Graphics Adapter WDDM, one for the AMD card and the other for the Intel Graphics HD. After installing this update, I realized I can successfully turn off the laptop.
Once I turned it back on this morning, I got a pop-message:
I then realized that it just simply doesn't see/use/detect the AMD card. This is how my AMD Catalyst looks right now:
Looking at Everest, you can see it only sees the Intel Graphics HD:
However, device manager is still listing the AMD card as if it's properly working:
And if you look at the event log, you can see that initial driver was installed right after the Windows 8 fresh install I made a day and a half ago, and then there's other events, last night, around the time when I installed the Windows Update thingy:
Is there any way I can output the content of my samsung galaxy note 2 to my dell inspiron 7520 laptop via hdmi or vga socket? From my research I found that only the alienware laptops have hdmi input.
I have a new Dell XPS with Windows 8. I was just starting to use it when I tried to explore bringing up a second monitor. For some reason the system doesn't recognize the second monitor. I then accidentally selected "second monitor only".
now I am without any monitor. When the system boots it recognizes the primary monitor (DVI) but then goes off to look for the second monitor. My system has AMD DVi video card as the primary video. The other video port is VGA, but I cannot get any monitor I have to work from it.
Is there a way to reset the video selection without having to use the mouse to navigate to the Devices selection?
I was using my laptop at home and was trying to connect a USB external hard drive. About one second after I connected the device, I get a pop-up saying the device was not recognized or the device malfunctioned (which isn't the case as the device works on other computers). I tried using a thumb drive, a USB mouse and a headset, only to get the same pop-up. The computer has the Intel 4th Gen i7 4500, and is currently running Windows 8.1 (x64).
When I checked the Universal Serial Bus Controllers using the Device Manager, I see four items:
1. Generic USB Hub 2. Intel(R) 8 Series USB Enhanced Host Controller #1 - 9C26 3. USB Root Hub 4. USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller
The fourth controller has a warning sign beside it, and when I click on the controller, it says "the device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)" When I try to update the driver, or delete then re-install, nothing changes. I've tried downloading the USB 3.0 eXtensible (...) driver which I've read could be the fix, and it says that the machine doesn't meet the system requirements. I feel like I'm missing an "Intel(R) 8 Series" controller seeing as the one I have says "#1", but whenever I scan for new drivers or driver updates, nothing comes up.
My computer is hp envy dv6 7280sf notebook with 2 GPUs intel graphics HD 4000 and Nvidia Gefoce 630 M running windows 8 64x.
After making an free upgrade online for windows 8.1 which run successfully, both gpus were ok...
But after receiving a windows update with new drivers for intel graphics 4000 gpu , after install and restart , the computer freezes on blank black screen at windows startup with no mouse or anything only backlight.
So safemode was succeful but i figured that the update for windos update was the cause and graphics drivers were installed so i removed the drivers for intel graphics and itried to reboot the computer so the restart was succeful but the intel graphics card was unistalled and no drivers were automatically installed so i tried to download and install the drivers from hp and intel website for windows 8.1 however the install fails.
Automatic install from device manager failed both online and from computer and even from manual driver selection.
So therefore the install failed in safe mode , and the high def audio device ( on screen audio possibly) failed and the device was not recongnized (no drivers installed) so i'm stuck without anydrivers for the integrated gpu and the games are no longer able to run normally even if the nvidia card is on.
I tried downloading an installing Windows 8 drives but it failed to install also , for instance any new install of drovers seems to fail for me even for external usb hard drive.
I'm building a system for cryptocoin mining, and am having a little problem with getting Windows 8.1 (home, not pro) to run the 3rd card (GPU) My equipment is:
Here is the problem... everything boots just fine and runs with 2 of the GPU's installed. I have the latest AMD 13.12 drivers, and the AMD APP SKD installed. When I add the 3rd GPU though, windows will auto detect it as a Radeon 7900 with the caution sign, AND/OR a r9 200 series card, also with the caution sign, most times BOTH. Then it randomly freezes the system. A couple of times I got it to run long enough just by luck I guess, to install the 13.12 drivers on the 3rd GPU, but then in a few minuites the system would freeze again.
2 GPU's run just fine, the problem only shows up when the 3rd card is installed, and it happens on any of the 4 16x slots, or both 1x slots on the MOBO. It doesn't matter if the GPU's are directly on the MOBO, or on 1x16 risers. There are plenty of folks running this set up with up to 6 GPU's, so I know it can be done, but I must be missing something somewhere in the windows set up.
I've got a bit of a strange issue that I haven't had with previous OSes on this PC. I'm running a Dell OptiPlex 380 with Win 8 x64 at the office and I have to run 2 video cards for all of my screens. I have a GeForce 8400GS in the PCI-E slot and a GeForce 6200 in the PCI slot.
Previous to the Win 8 install, it worked fine. Booted exactly as I had shut it off. Now, with 8 - it's killing my PCI-E card presumably when it puts the screens to sleep when I leave for the day. So I'm coming in to all of my windows being moved to the PCI card's monitor (only one hooked to it) and I have to reboot to get PCI-E card to come back.
If I check the screen properties, I see only the screen hooked to the PCI card. I've changed the setting in the BIOS for the first video card to Auto and also tried the PCI-E selection and it's the same either way.
Why on earth would it default to the PCI card rather than the PCI-E card?

i got 2 problems:well first one is that i can't update to windows 8.1 as the update always hang on 82% and after that my laptop automatically shutsdown i don't know whats the reason is and that's why i am stuck at windows 8 till now although have 8.1 ISO but i don't want to install it as i have to erase my my windows 8 which came pres-installed so i will loose my genuine windows 8 .now i want to know what if i open the 8.1 installer and install it from a virtual tool like Deamon although it gives an option to keep files app setting safe but i fear that it would conflict with 8 and i would have to format my laptop then ok now to the major problem i just recently purchased Watch Dogs and installed it.I played the first mission and got busted so the mission failed and it began to reload and then a error pops up saying watch dogs have stopped working upon googling i found out that this is due to DUAl AMD Graphics so they stated that i should disable it but i cant find any option of disabling DUAL Graphics.
I have a new laptop with Windows 8 and I really like it. I also have an older Dell Inspiron 1521 with an AMD 64 bit processor, 4 gig of RAM and a 160 gig SSD. It runs Win7 just fine and I believe it will run Windows 8. My new laptop came with 8 installed so I don't have a box to check the low end specs for running 8. I have Linux on it now and I would like to run both. It boots in to Linux in 20 seconds, about the same time as my new Windows 8 laptop.
I own dell inspiron 14z and i tried to install windows 8 on the 32SSD drive, i turned SATA controller to AHCI and installed the OS. Windows was booted ones and it was all fine but when i restarted the computer it consistently led to the screen "your pc ran into problem and needs to restart...." I tried turning back to ISRT and same, I reinstalled windows and turn the acceleration of but after installing the driver an error was occurred says "your computer does t meat the minimum requirements....".
I turned back to ISRT and tried to install the windows again but it could not find the hard drive even after browsing through usb (it was loading and loading but didn't find anything) and now i really don't know what to do...
I have a Dell Inspiron One 2330, which had Windows 8 Pre Installed, one fine day it stopped booting windows 8...
No matter, I had the recovery media... I made a full system restore... and nothing... it still does not boot.

Dell Diagnostics accused no trouble whatsoever, all the tests performed successfully.
After a lot of tinkering, I managed to go back to Windows 7, the system runs fine, but I am running a trial license of Win 7, as I have not yet bought a license (I actually tried restoring the system using the Dell generated backup disks AND the Windows 8 OEM Disk, provided after those did not work).
What could be preventing Windows 8 from booting, since neither the installation fails, nor the HDD acuses any problem?
I have an Inspiron One 2305 All in One with touch display and was planning to upgrade to Windows 8. However, I just noticed on the Dell Support site that they do not support the upgrade, and thus, don't recommend owners of this computer doing the upgrade.
I purchased a dell inspiron 5521 a few months back but i didn't get any windows 8 CD with it. I have to reinstall my windows, but when i try to do it with my friend's original windows CD, error says product key entered is different. I don't even know the product key for my windows 8.
I'm trying to figure out if my Dell Inspiron N4010 has full compatibility with Windows 8. I downloaded the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant. The two issues I have are Secure Boot and was touch capabilities my Dell Computer has if I decide to upgrade to Windows 8.
Since I've updated to 8.1 my laptop is taking a long to boot up and when it finally does load it's slow as hell.
I'll then be playing Football Manager and when I hit the windows key to go back to my desktop it freezes. I've tried opening task manager and that freezes too, the only thing that functions properly is the metro screen.
I thinking it's a compatibility issue with a program that's causing it.

I have inspiron 14r 5420 (with windows 8 ) . I have problems with the laptop after a few days and earlier i had did recover media to 2 CDs. Now during the boot it was verifying my laptop and it say that it would reset the pc to factory backup. Will this process require a format.
I had to restore my Dell Inspiron laptop. The worst was having to download all of the Windows updates that I had installed since I bought the laptop a year ago. Is there any way to backup these Windows updates, in case (*shudder*) this happens again, I will have these ready on a disc or flash drive ready to reinstall?
I purchased a brand new Dell Inspiron 15 3000 2 months before. This system is having Windows 8.1 OS. I'm facing the start up problem from last month.
1. Sometimes when I pressed the power button system won't start. Black screen comes then it won't boot.
2. Sometimes when I pressed the power button system will boot up to password screen, if I entered the password and hit the enter key, again Black screen comes.
3. Sometimes shutdown is not possible.
a. I tried to shutdown by using mouse (Start -> Power Options -> Shut down) it won't take the command. b. I tried to shutdown by using keyboard (Pressing Alt+F4) it won't take the command itself.
I recently bought a dell laptop(dell inspiron 15 3521), which comes with windows 8 O.S and I want to install windows 7 and Ubuntu as part of my research for 3 months.
So I have to uninstall windows 8 and of course I want windows 8 after some time(approximately 3 months) but I didn't get any windows 8 cd or key with it ,how to get through it?
I have a laptop, dell inspiron rs7720 with windows 8 on it. Once i tried to boot a different operation system from a memory stick, it didn't work, nothing happened. From that day after a first boot(doesn't matter through restart or by shutting it down) I always keep getting a quick dell logo for 1 second and then a black screen. By pressing buttons like Esc-f12 the ~Boot options F12~ appears on the right bottom of the screen. If I press F12 no reaction happens. If i just turn the laptop off by holding a button and turn it on again it boots up properly. Tried to reinstall bios, didn't work, but the bios does work. However boot options doesn't(if you press f12 at the dell logo).
I have a fairly new (bought in December) Dell Inspiron/Windows 8 that is used mainly by my kids to play games. It's minimally loaded- Windows Office, Adobe and generally starts up fast. Today they report to me that "something is wrong." On start up all I get is a grey screen. I tried F2 and F10 - no response. Doesn't even respond to Control/Alt/delete. I've searched the forums and the only thing that seems to come close is that they have possibly enlarged a split screen somehow so it's hiding everything else- but what to do? It has to get to Windows to do that, and we're not there yet.
I have a 2 month old Dell Inspiron 660 running Windows 8.1.that came with windows 8 installed but I upgraded to 8.1 off the internet. Everything worked okay until I did a scan and cleaning with ccleaner. Pretty soon startup was very slow going from the Dell screen to the lock screen to the password screen to the windows welcome screen but windows would eventually load. Now the startup only goes to the welcome screen. That little circle of dots starts spinning and keeps on spinning but Windows never loads. Did I erase some registry files when I cleaned it?
I also wanted to know how load Dos from win 8.1 and how to boot win 8.1 in safe mode.
I have bought a Dell Inspiron 15R which arrived this week. I have already decided that I am going to install my own copy of Windows 8.1 Professional on to my system.
I have tried this several times now and I keep failing. I am booting from my DVD and the install goes fine. However during install I am normally prompted to enter my Serial for 8.1 and it does not do this. It progresses as though everything is ok, I can format the Hard drive and then it proceeds to install Windows 8.1.
Once fully installed I then go to see if it is activated and to my surprise it is. It has activated with the same Serial as the OEM that came with the laptop.
I have also noticed that this copy of 8.1 cannot join the laptop to my own domain (the options to do this are greyed out) which I am also wanting to do. So this copy of 8.1 is not the copy I am trying to install.
How can I install my own copy of 8.1. I think this is something to do with Dells bios configuration but not sure where to start.
I have a Core i5 Dell Inspiron N5110 with 4 GB Ram.I tried Clean Installation of Windows 8 64 Bit (Downloaded From Microsoft Dreamspark Account) with bootable USB many times about every possible management of partitions but it goes black after the installation ,where it says "Getting Device Ready @ 62% Or 60%" , & Restarts Automatically an then it says Repairing Drive E or F, O.o even i have only one partiton of 500 GB
I have 2.5 years old Dell Inspiron 15r n5010 with Intel Core i3 processor (M370 @2.4 GHz) and 3gb RAM. Right now I have Windows 7 (64 bit) installed on my machine. I have two questions:
1. Can I install Windows 8.1 (64bit) on my machine?
2. There is no driver available for Windows 8 for this series of laptop on Dell's site. In that case, can I use Video, Wireless LAN, Bluetooth drivers of Windows 7 (64 bit) for Windows 8.1 (64 bit)?
P.S.: Dell provide drivers for Windows 8 for Inspiron 15r n5110 series of laptop. Can I use n5110 series of drivers on my n5010 series of laptop?
