Integrate Skydrive Into Windows Explorer
Mar 14, 2013how to integrate skydrive into my win explorer. I would like to simply be able to drag a file from say excel or word an drop it into a skydrive folder or somehow save it to skydrive from excel or words "save" or "save as" window. I also have this strange folder appearing in my win explorer and I think it where my skydrive is located.

It works great on 1 pc I use but on another it doesn't. The problem is it is only showing the Public folder and nothing else. I cant work out why this is the case.
It accepts my credentials fine and connects the drive it just doesn't show the files there. It also doesn't allow me to upload anything else to the drive.

Jan 22, 2014I use SkyDrive quite every time. For each file, I copy to my Windows explorer folder of SkyDrive, I have to individually right click each file and select Make Available online only. I want the explorer to do this for each and every file I copy to the folder so that I don't need to waste time to do it all by myself.

Oct 11, 2013I've been doing some testing moving around files to and from a test folder on SkyDrive under Win8.1 rtm and seem to got myself into a position where the SkyDrive client thinks a file should be synced from the local machine but fails as it "has a problem"
Metro SkyDrive shows an error "Files can't be uploaded because there's a problem with a file or folder" - View Details/Close
Clicking View Details displays "Problem" the folder/file in error and that's it. No option to ignore/delete or anything.
I've tried totally deleting the folders from the root of SkyDrive to no avail.
Windows Explorer shows the skydrive folder with an explanation mark - right clicking and selecting "View Problem" goes to the Metro Skydrive page detailing the file as above.

Sep 18, 2013I know SkyDrive is explicitly excluded from File History backup in 8.1 but how I could get the same functionality?
I'm using File History to make ad-hoc system images from C: to E: and also various libraries. As SkyDrive doesn't get backed up even if in a library is there some other (free) tool I can use or some way to replicate the functionality?
I'd like to have the time stamped versions of files if possible. I was thinking of replicating Skydrive to another folder somehow and then backing that up with file explorer but that seems a rather inefficient way of doing things.

Sep 15, 2013Been able to get file versions to work with skydrive? I've read that if your skydrive offline files are pointing inside a library that the file versions will be captured. With 8.1 RTM it appears to me that the offline file versions are by default included in the documents library but I am having no luck getting them captured.
File versions is enabled and I can get other libraries files captured just not those from skydrive.

Jan 29, 2014I really like the way Skydrive synchronises my folders between my work and home laptops and I have my Skydrive docs available offline. But why is Skydrive excluded from the list of libraries that are backed up by File History. I want to be able to back my docs up onto an external hard drive. Is there no way of doing this? Same with Backup on Windows 7, Skydrive seems to be excluded.

Under the Files Folder / Favorites group SkyDrive listed as a favorite. However, at the same level as Favorites, there is a OneDrive folder.
Under Windows 8.1, should not there be only OneDrive listed everywhere? Did something go wrong in the upgrade to 8.1?
File Explorer Zip File Icon Under Share Tab Not Active
Dec 29, 2012When in file explorer the zip icon under the share tab is not active. When I click on a simple folder, it does not highlight. If I right click on the folder and go to send to all I get is the dvd drive unless I shift right click first then a drop down of more selections appear but not send to compress. Is this something that need to be activated. I can un-zip a fle from the view tab.

Oct 25, 2013I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 this week and have a fully updated installation now with minimal programs installed. My problem is this, I have my downloads folder set to sort files by date created, from newest to oldest so I can easily find my newest downloads as they should be at the top of the listing, but Windows explorer will not refresh the view if I have have explorer open, forcing me to either manually refresh it or go to another folder, then come back which updates the view. I never had to do this with the old win 8 pro installation and have tried resetting the folders several times but it still won't update by itself. I do have the latest version of Start8 installed, but that never caused a problem before.

Also, when I get into a window with movies or pictures, all the files are white, no thumbnail! I have no virus and the installation is new and it is from the Microsoft site. all updates are installed.

If I insert a flash drive with pictures on it & select 'Import' in Photos, it will import the photos but after supposedly downloading them, nothing! Aug 1, 2013Since 2 days ago I've noticed that I cannot create a new folder with File Explorer by any way possible. Using the taskbar or the SHIFT + Ctrl + N. Even when saving projects with Save File as... and trying to use the "New Folder" text string button does not create any folder. Using CMD prompt or powershell all works well as with Total Commander which i only installed to see if it could create folders and it does. Other programs that auto create folders also works well (i.e. Foobar when transcoding to new unavailable folder). My Windows 8 Pro is original, it's a 4 month old install, I've not made any customizations, no registry hacks, Windows is bare apart from Classic Shell which i only use now as a custom button to go to start screen with the mouse. I also made a custom High Contrast Theme that i use at night or when eyes are a bit tired. It's 2 months old so it's there long before the problem.I've not installed any new programs in the last week apart from some updates from FileZilla, Foxit pdf and Notepad++.Last system update is COPICOM from 13 July.I followed this guide which as not resolved the problem: I cannot find a way to create a new folder in Windows 8. -

Usually you right click the app in the task bar, then right click the name, click compat tab, and then disable dpi scaling, but the compat tab is missing for some reason for File Explorer and only that app. So it looks fuzzy and crappy.
