I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 8 installed. I had no trouble downloading an .exe program file previously, but now nothing happens when I try to run the program. I've run another fix mentioned on this forum, and after rebooting, I get the same results.

My computer started freezing while downloading large files in uTorrent, About 10 minutes after starting uTorrent the PC starts to be really really slow and 1 minute after it freezes, only restarted/shutdown solve the problem, I've been using uTorrent for years and never had this problem, I mean it happens when I download a 15GB movie, but two months ago I downloaded a 170GB TV series and no problems were with that.
So I thought maybe its a problem in the HDD (not in the space, I have aprox. 150GB free in C and 220GB in D), I don't really know what to do.
Lately I am getting this error message when tying to download."You've reached the bandwidth limit for viewing or downloading files that aren't in Google Docs format. Please try again later. You can also try to download the original document by clicking here."I am using Win 8.1. does this in Chrome and Explorer, and in both Yahoo and Google search engines.
on Acer Aspire Windows 8 - All the drivers I have to instal, do not include an installation program and I have to instal the drivers manually. I don't know if I am doing it right or if there is an easier way of doing it but I have to right click the downloaded Zip file for Bluetooth, extract all files, search for the Bluetooth folder in Device Manager to instal the driver. I have got six drivers (not all Bluetooth) to instal and just want it get it right. before I upgrade to Windows 8.1 again.
When I downloaded the Windows 8 iso from my Vista desktop, it defaulted to the 32 bit version, I guess because 32 bit is what is on the desktop. But I want a 64 bit iso. How do I specify that?
I am looking to download an ISO of Windows 8.1 so that, in the future, I do not have to go through the process of first installing Windows 8.0 and then downloading Windows 8.1 and installing it.
I have found pages on the web dated around April 2014 that describe a process that involves beginning the download for Windows 8.0 ISO, canceling the download after it starts, and then attempting to download Windows 8.1. However, it appears that Microsoft has nullified this trick by since requiring that you put in your Windows 8.1 key when attempting to download the Windows 8.1 ISO.
a friend just asked me if he will get the standard retail ISO of Windows 8.1 with Update if uses his Windows 8.1 product key to start the "Upgrade with product key only".
And I didn't know what to answer him, I'm pretty sure you get a standard image that you can use not only to upgrade but to install Windows anew doing that; but I don't know if it'll be the one with spring's update.
Windows 8 problems. How to easily and quickly download selected photos from my camera. When I tried it was taking forever as the system seemed to be going through opening every single photo on my camera and I gave up waiting. I just want to be able to download the latest ones not all of the ones I have on my camera.
The first time I tried to download a word document from an email, a message came up asking how I wanted to download documents and I accidentally chose to open it in Internet Explorer. Now every time I try to download a word document from emails of any source (college site, work site, personal email) I get a message that Internet Explorer is not responding and the email never downloads.
I don't want to download the the files into Internet Explorer (even if that did work). I often need to edit these documents or work as a collaborative group on online assignments. Now I cannot even access them
It's been a while since I have this ("driver_irql_not_less_or_equal, ndis.sys or netio.sys") error and it occurs whenever I try to download a file with uTorrent and a few times while downloading with IDM, I hope that my PC is not dead.
So, I've just bought a new laptop for university work and it came with Windows 8 pre-installed.
First thing I did when I booted the laptop up was install Microsoft Word and Norton Security, all fine so far!
And then it comes to downloading iTunes, latest Adobe Flashplayer/PDF reader etc and everytime it will get close to finishing. Around 98% or so, before stopping and saying 'The file download was interrupted'. So I press resume download and it comes up with another error message of 'The signature is invalid or corrupt'. I literally can't download a thing?
Also, I can't play youtube videos either. All I get is the 'buffering' circle, a black screen and a greyed out play button!
have windows 8 pre installed on my hp laptop, i downloaded linux ubuntu but whenever i try and run ubuntu i keep getting the same error message: oxc000007b. I tried deleting it so that i could reinstall the software and then was given another error message which was: ox80004002.
I keep getting BSOD when I start downloading any torrent, I have tried utorrent and bittorrent clients. It started to happen recently after I found my bro had downloaded some keygens. Antivirus and AntiMalware programs picked nothing.
This is any browser; Opera , IE, Chrome....all updated, Adobe Reader updated today, Chrome updated to 36 today...
PDFs that are supposed to be emailed, via a button on a webpage, come to me unopenable, and if downloaded, are unable to be loaded due to some format issue.
I tested the same functions on a Win XP laptop, with same Chrome and Adobe Reader version. It worked fine, on the same network and ISP.
WHAT is it about 8.1 that precludes anything from getting PDFs down in one readable piece?
I have a clean Windows 8 install with latest updates. I plugged the computer into LAN via standard ethernet cable and everything looked alright, however, it seems that there is some problem with downloading files (be it through browser or a different service, such as win update). Usually the download starts normally, downloading about 5-7 megabytes, but then the download freezes, as if the internet connection had disconnected. Thing is, it hadn't, I can still browse websites and ping hosts. The downloading sometimes randomly resumes for another 700 kilobytes to 2 megabytes, though generally not more. Other computers not running windows 8 in the LAN do not have this issue, which leads me to believe it's not connected to router nor ISP.
Sometimes, it also fails to load a webpage, hanging untill a manual refresh is performed or untill I replug the ethernet cable.
- Update ethernet drivers
- Try different speed & duplex - Update windows to the latest - Disable windows firewall and smartscreen
How do I access a game after downloading from the Store. The Store site states I've downloaded a game although the games folder on my computer is empty.
I got a Laptop pre-installed with Windows 8, but i deleted it and installed a Linux distro because its better for what i do. BUT i love gaming, and gaming on Linux is difficult. So i want to re-install Wondows 8.
Where can i download Windows 8 64bit legally? I know how to burn to disk and install with the key saved on my Laptop.
I'm on Windows 8 and want to update to 8.1 but I have tried three times with the same result.
In the store I start the download and it seems to start correctly (just like on two other laptops that I have updated successfully within the last week). However, nothing else happens. The screen says downloading and the thermometer crawls from left to right for a while, indicating that it is, in fact, doing something (I am on a 40/40 line).
After about 30 minutes or so the thermometer start from the left margin Again. No explanation as to why. Same story Again. It sometimes takes 15 minutes before it seems to start allover again, and sometimes considerably more, but the end result is the same: After hours on end it seems to die and nothing happens. The job list indicates that nothing is running.
And Windows 8 does not seem to be influenced by all this. It looks and feels the same.
I've been experiencing BSOD shortly after upgrade to windows 8.1, roughly a couple of months ago. The frequency is increasing, several times a week is not uncommon. Usually BSOD happens whilst downloading or occasionally just browsing the web.
When I download a pdf file from a an email in my Gmail account that is using chrome I get a screen shot in Windows 8 with all black and the pdf displayed . However I cannot find a way to print it out. The circles offered at the bottom say two pages, one page, open, save as, or more but no ability to print. The document in the middle of window is very clear to read. but I cannot print it out.
I bought a Razer Blade 14" laptop last week and it comes pre-installed with windows 8.1 core
Im looking for a way to download the windows 8.1 core x64 iso so that i can format the laptop and reset the partitions of the ssd (14GB is allocated to the system restore)
after much googling i saw that people have been getting an iso through using their windows 8 key, but mine is straight up 8.1 so after trying the method it did not work.
I've just installed my Windows 8.1 and ran into a little problem that keeps me away from using Windows 8. So, as I try to watch any video on Youtube (or anywhere else) or downloading few programs after 2-5 minutes of video or download time the internet disappears.
I've tried disabling Firewall, play with other settings but nothing works at all. After the disappearance of the internet I have to restart my PC (because without restart Troubleshoot seems to do nothing) and run Troubleshoot. It says that my Wi-fi is shut down but I skip this one, because my internet is on cable. So then I get another "Problem found" and it says "The Ethernet adapter is disabled".
I've spent a whole day trying to restore my Wifi connection after downloading 8.1. I've looked at forums all over the web and despite many people having the same problem, I haven't found a solution that works for me.
