Desktop blinks and all files on desktop dissapear and then load again, and if I am typing words are gone and so is page I was on. You can also hear the disk drive go on and off. It interrupts everything.
View 4 RepliesI just got a new Win 8 computer. I love it, however it wakes from sleep mode every 15 minutes on the dot. It will wake for about 2 minutes than sleep again.
Is this something it should do in order to get some air flow every once in a while or can I stop it from doing this? I have searched around online and tried everything i have come across. I turned off the setting that allows programs to wake the computer, as well as made sure the ethernet connection doesn't wake it.
After a windows update crashed during startup, my laptop is taking 20+ minutes on the "welcome" loading bar after you login. The login screen itself it very laggy and takes 5 minutes to navigate. The "Lenovo" loading screens upon startup takes 3 or 4 minutes.
Occasionally a black screen will appear and I cant get past it in the loading process.
As the title says recently my computer is not getting into sleep state although i've set it at 30 minutes.
Tried a lot of stuff like energy-report from power cfg:

Having upgraded to 8.1 yesterday, the problems I have found thus far ae:
-Restarting the computer takes about 5 mins
-One of my two printers doesn't work
-Internet explorer 11 is constantly freezing, then stopping responding, then quitting and re-starting
My computer is running very slow all the time, but every 30 seconds - 10 minutes my computer freezes lots of times. I have downloaded a lot of things, and I downloaded something before and it made the computer run very slow. I just wanted to know if the download had anything to do with it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell XPS 8700 Desktop, has 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive, running Windows 8.1 which I had installed the day it came out..the PC I purchased in September 2013..for the past few weeks I have noticed how when I shut down the pc that it can take up to 4 minutes to shut down, the monitor will go black but the power button the tower will remain white til it turns off, it used to turn off in a matter of seconds, now its minutes..same issue for restart, takes about 3 minutes to restart and no one from Dell can figure out what the problem is..all I had installed in December were updates from microsoft thats it, other than that nothing new has been installed. Yesterday I got a notification from Dell on my PC notifying me that I should update my BIOS which was A4 to A6 which I did and still the same issue..talked to five technicians and no one can figure it out, been told maybe its software related and I need to reformat the hard drive, I feel that would be a waste of time, if there was an actual cause I would do it, but to format my hard drive with no known cause of this problem would be stupid, it would just happen again.

Reloading windows 8 or 8.1 on a system that the product key is embedded in the Bios.
Scenario only concerning windows 8 or 8.1 any version, also data recover is not a concern: Systems are coming in that are built by a manufacturer (Dell, Toshiba, HP, Compaq, Emachine ect.) the system(s) are out of warranty, They are either in a boot loop, blue screening when loading windows or the hard drive has crashed and isn't loading windows at all. The customers never created recovery disks, nor can we due to windows not loading. We can not get to advanced mode and even if and when we can, creating recovery media is not available.
So let us be clear: We have a system that had windows 8 or 8.1 preinstalled by manufacturer, it was used for multiple months, no recovery media create, now the operating system is not loading, recovery partition corrupt or not accessible, refresh not available, windows product key is embedded in the Bios and is out of warranty.
What we have tried: System with failed hard drive with windows 8 sticker on it. Ran software that extracts product key from BIOS, Inserted an OEM disk for windows 8 and 8.1 when asked to input key, we used the key that was extracted, the installation tells us that the product key is not a OEM key. We do not have a skip button to continue? How in the world can we reload windows 8 or 8.1 on these systems? We have gone through all of the BIOS settings and have tried everything we can think of. If the product key for windows 8 or 8.1 is embedded in the BIOS what do we need to do to make the installation find the key and use it to continue the installation and activate.
From what we are seeing we are not the only one(s) asking this question, the problem is that the reply(s) are: use system refresh, use recovery partition, use recovery media? We understand the reasoning behind having the product key embedded but it shouldn't be this hard to use what the system already has?
I have an ASUS LED monitor and an MSI motherboard. When the computer goes into hibernate the blue LED indicator on the face of the monitor blinks. When it starts blinking there is a slight buzzing noise that is emitted. Since my computer is in my bedroom I was hoping to be able to change this so at least it doesn't make a noise when I am trying to sleep.

Just as it says, if I right click on "Properties" in My Computer and try to pull up the System Information sheet, the whole desktop shuts down and then re-opens.
I am running an AMD Athlon 4400+, overclocked 7%. I am going to set it back to 5% and see if this continues.

after doing a clean install of Windows 8 pro 64bit and installed windows updates.After the first restart "My computer" desktop icon shown up as "My Computer 32 bit" .I had some customized context menu on right click and that dissapeared too,the context menu customization still exists on registry at the computer clsid but no luck with the "My computer 32 bit" desktop icon that Im having now.....

I use my Windows 8.1 for everything, but there are times when I'm somewhere else in the house where I'd like to access anything/everything on it. I have Wifi AC through a dlink router. I also have wired ethernet through the house. Thats not the problem, just how to connect the main computer to every other computer in the house either wifi or wired. If I'm out in the garage and I want to see my desktop computer on my mac book pro how can I do it. Also... I installed splashtop on each computer, but haven't figured it out if its the right software. I guess I need the right words to make the questions I have ask understandable for everyone.
Simply put I want to be able to access my Mac book pro and my Android S3 phone to be able to access everything on my desktop computer.
Two days ago my ISP replaced my modem-router for a new one. Ever since the replacement, my main desktop computer won't connect to the internet "immediately". I checked the connection via ethernet and WiFi with my other computers (even tested every single one of my ethernet cables) and they work perfectly fine, except for my main desktop computer.
What my desktop does:
When I turn it on I have to wait for around an hour before it connects to the internet. During that hour, it attempts to identify something (I guess the IP? - the yellow warning icon gets displayed) and after 3 seconds of attempting, the connection drops and it goes back to saying "No connection". The connection is being made via Ethernet cable and I tried the troubleshoot but it continues to say that I need to plug-in a ethernet cable to my computer, thing is it is already plugged in and like I stated above, the cable worked fine with all my other computers. My desktop used to work perfectly fine with my old modem-router.
I attempted to do do some troubleshooting refreshing my ip using the cmd with admin privileges but nothing worked as it said every time that there was no media connection. My desktop just randomly connects to the internet by itself after an hour of attempting to connect and disconnecting and once it gets connected it works perfectly fine until I restart my computer or turn it off and then the next day it'll be the same thing over again.
This has gotten extremely annoying, what can I do to fix this and further prevent it from happening? - I updated all my drivers and it's still the same. It'll just connect to the internet whenever it wants to.
My client has Windows 8 installed (with Windows 7 desktop, lolwut?), it's connected to the internet.
The clock changes every 10 minutes, despite being synchronised to internet time.

Time setting - London
Problem - Clock (System Time) keeps changing incorrectly after about 10 to 30 minutes.

View 4 Replies View RelatedApproximately every 10min my Windows 8 do a sound. The sound is little bit like when you connect something to usb port.
Everything works well and theoretically it isn't big deal. Practically is does hell from watching of anything. When I watch movie, serial or just some video on youtube this sound turns player's sound off. Sometimes its silenced only on short time but mostly it's permanent. Only one solution in this situation is to reset movie player or reload web page.
In every case when I hear this sound, I can find Surrogate process in task manager. I think it can has connectivity.
After im playing in this case battlefield bad company 2 or now it was battlefield 4 after like 5-10 minutes i hear my video card is working very hard it's fan and the temperature is like 110-117c.
Then after more 5 minutes or so the monitor is shut down and the pc is frozen i can't click anything only can restart the pc. It's like the pc is in sleep mode but frozen. I don't have any blue screen before it.
I'm not sure if the problem is drivers like the video card drivers memory or virus. I have nod 32 did scan last night cleaned 17 threats.
I have started having this random problem , well its only just started the last couple of days and I haven't installed anything or changed anything. I have all monitor sleep function's set to never and every time I walk away from the computer for about 20 min the monitors seem to go off and I have to move the mouse and they come back on.

Windows restarts every 5 minutes or so.
It doesn't fall asleep. I have it set to turn the display off at 10 minutes, and to go into sleep mode at 15. That works perfectly!
But, how when your PC is starting up or waking up, and when the cursor first displays, it works intermittently? You can try to move it around, and it doesn't react very well. Not until your PC is fully awake.
This happens every time I don't touch my keyboard or mouse for between 3 and 4 minutes. Then it takes about 20 seconds to fully wake up after I touch the keyboard or mouse. Drives me nuts!
I don't have any unusual or unknown programs on my PC, and I don't believe it's malware. Otherwise my PC runs great. Fast.
I have some 80 minutes CD-medias, that I want to fill with music for my car. But Windows media Player will only accept up to 74 minutes on each CD. How do I get Media player to split my music-lists in 80 minutes instead of 74 minutes?

Every five minutes I recieve the BSOD and it says critical_process_died. The weird thing is, I reset my computer back to factory settings and as soon as I booted it did it again... I got my computer to work for like 10 minutes and as soon as I thought it stopped for good, it did it again.
My PC sometimes crashes during bootup too.
Edit: I was just downloading something and halfway in it said something like "Failed to download and install files". Then the taskbar in the bottom of my screen disapeared and my computer got the BSOD saying "Critical_Process_Died"...
Get tons of BSODs, a different explanations very time. I get Memory Management, Kernel Security Check Fail, NTFS File System, System Service Exceptions...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new desktop PC. I've had it a few weeks and for some reason I've recently been having trouble with the wireless. I can verify that the problem is with the computer, as my old laptop, my phone, and other devices all seem to be doing fine and don't experience the same problem. As the title says, every few minutes, the WiFi stops. It doesn't go completely, it simply changes to the picture with the asterisk (*) in the bottom right. This happens for only a couple of seconds before it goes back to normal. Then, it will happen again after a few minutes. This is completely infuriating when trying to watch videos online.
Sometimes when I use the troubleshooter it finds a problem with the WiFi adapter and resets it, and then says the issue is fixed.
i started to get that BSOD after I installed windows updates few days ago.
i think i have updated all drivers but no change.. uTorrent might be the problem, because whenever i start the program, BSOD occurs in a couple of minutes afterwards.
i read similar threads but i dont have an antivirus prgram that may cause BSOD. well, at least, i dont know if i have one that not appears on program list .
I have an old laptop from 2007. I bought windows 8 license (was using W7) and it was working great for the few months. After that it stopped. Now if I want to boot it, or restart it or shut it down it takes at least 30 minutes which huge sound coming from it.
I got a new laptop today, but I still want to use my old one. As I think a laptop is a girl, it has to be perfect
It takes 1 minute to enter the windows 8. And 29 minutes to enter the metro layout (it keeps loading).
What do I have to do.
