I have the email client for live.com working in the tiles area of windows 8.1, but i usually always drop down to desktop to work. after all these years doing it that way its just familiar to me..
i know i can open a web mail interface and attach a file but its so much quicker going the right click way.
i didn't realize how often i am looking at the file and sending to mail that way.
Windows 8 Stuck At Showing 3 Unread Messages In Mail Inbox
Jul 2, 2013My Windows 8 Mail app shows I have 3 UNREAD messages in my inbox, but I dont actually have any unread emails. I have gone through and opened every single email, but it still displays 3 unread emails. When a new email comes through, it goes to 4 unread emails, but when I open the new one it reverts back to 3. Its as though its stuck? How to fix this, aside from uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but then I have to remove a few apps with it (calender etc) and that will lose too much stuff....

Mar 20, 2013My mail account is working perfectly OK except this morning I received an email - junk mail! (but just plain text) that I now can't get rid of.
I highlighted the email, clicked on the delete icon on the top right and in greyed briefly but remains in my inbox. Unfortunately Microsoft have seen fit to stop us manually dragging the file to the delete folder and has done away with the drop down menus that allowed us to do so much in the past.
Found similar problem deleting an email stuck in the Outbox, but no luck. The message remains!

Browsers/Mail :: App Ignores Emails In Folders Other Than Inbox
Jul 5, 2014For some reason, the Mail app seems to completely ignore emails in any other folder than my Inbox (i.e. the Social and Newsletters folder). It alerts me (although very late) for emails in my Inbox folder but there are no alerts when receiving emails in my Social or Newsletter folders.
Even when opening the Mail app and I see there are 7 new emails in the Social folder and 1 in my Inbox, the live tile only shows there is 1 email.
I have double checked ALL the options in the Mail app and the PC Settings app to make sure alerts should pop up as soon as new email comes in. The option to alert me for any kind of email (not just favorites) is also enabled.
I have reinstalled the Mail app, I have restarted the Windows Firewall service, performed the SFC /scannow command without finding any integrity violations and have run the App Troubleshooter to fix any issues without any result.
Running Windows Pro 8.1 (Update 1) x64 bit.

Aug 15, 2013I got a new Samsung laptop because my other laptop was slow and old. However, there is something strange in this laptop the images on firefox don't appear all the time.
I followed their guide: Cleared cache and cookies, it worked for few hours then images are not loading.
- I deleted my ESET smart security: It didn't do anything.
- I installed Panda free antivitus and still the same problem. So it's not from the antivirus program I'm using.
I checked my other laptop and images are showing without any problem, so it can't be from my connection.
What else can I do? I think I exhausted my laptop uninstall and Install a lot of programs and it's still new.

Aug 19, 2013My firefox and google chrome displays are totally different. In my new laptop, firefox shows the titles in bold. Shows different elements in bold while in google chrome it works fine.
I tried google and I tried all the tutorials about changing about:config but nothing worked.
One solution worked for me: Change compatibility mode to windows xp 2 which made firefox display like google chrome but then FF crashed several times in websites using java, etc..

One contains my junk mail, but clicking the extra folder just displays the 'busy' spinning icon and never opens the folder. How can I delete the extra folder? The only way I could find to do it was create a shortcut on my desktop and then send that to a mail address but even that didn't work properly.

Dec 17, 2013My parents bought a PC last year running Windows 8. I set up there talktalk E mail accounts in the Windows 8 Native E mail client from the Mail tile at the start screen without any problem. All worked fine until recently when in order to download an app they had to register an Outlook E Mail address. Not sure if they had updates applied as well but they had to start logging on to the PC at boot up every time using a password. In an effort to resolve this they restored the PC to an earlier time which has cured the logging on issue (ie no password required) but when they access the Mail tile from the start screen it is an outlook E Mail account that comes up. I have tried without success logging into this outlook account and then adding the talktalk accounts. I even tried using my own account but could not add that either.
All they want is to click the Mail tile and get there talktalk accounts to come up just as before (no outlook or hotmail or anything else). Is there a way to reset the E Mail client/tile in Windows 8 back to what came with PC so that I could set it up just as I did when the PC was purchased. They are running Windows 8 and do not wish to restore back to factory settings as they have a few other bits and pieces of software installed.If they upgrade to Windows 8.1 will they be forced into using a password to log on every time ?
