Audio :: Speaker Settings Subwoofer Crossover Not Working
Jun 8, 2014
I run a 7.0 speaker system connected in multi-channel analogue mode to my Creative X-Fi Titanium.
I set my speaker settings on Windows 8.1 disabling the subwoofer and checking the full-range speakers checkbox to allow the low frequencies to be handled by my satellite speakers.
I've made no changes to the settings and yet I suddenly experienced a decrease in bass after a system restart.
When I checked the speaker settings I noticed that checking/unchecking the full-ranged speakers and subwoofer checkboxes no longer made any difference. i.e. the signal still gets passed to the centre/subwoofer port on the soundcard.
Clicking on the subwoofer on the window, I can only hear sounds from my front left/right speakers. Previously, unchecking the subwoofer checkbox sends the low frequencies to the available full-range speakers.
I have tried using an optical connection on Dolby Digital and it gives the same problem.
I setup a subwoofer to run from the pc from the orange hole to the sub via a 3.5mm to rca cable. I can't get it to play sound from any other program other than pandora, battlefield and youtube. VLC, netflix, mediamonkey all ignore the sub and don't use it. My speakers are connected to the computer through the green hole to the t amp (no sub out on the amp). I tried downloading my audio drivers but I get an error saying "can't find hd audio device". My motherboard is a gigabyte gaz77xd3h running on the latest f18i bios. When i was on 7 the drivers worked fine, but on 8.1 they don't install. I've tried the original version that came with the mobo and the most recent one and both don't work.
Yesterday, I bought a pair of Samson Studio GT studio monitors. which connect to my computer via USB. However, I'm only getting sound out of one monitor/speaker, that would be the right side with the power cable. I've checked the speaker wires and made sure they were hooked up correctly for polarity. There are no drivers for these speakers on SamsonTech.com. Windows sees everything correctly, as these speakers have a built in audio interface for audio production, which is what I do.
This is definitely not an issue with the speakers, because I managed to hook up my computer to the speakers'/monitors' aux RCA inputs and got sound out of BOTH speakers! What is most interesting is that headphone output from from the SPEAKERS/MONITORS functions the same in both cases. (One case with audio out the right speaker, the other case with audio out of both). However, these speakers (I'm just going to call them that from now on) have two headphone outputs. When hooked up via USB, and when listening on headphones, the phone output to the right only outputs right channel audio, and the left only outputs left channel audio. But when hooked up via the RCA inputs, both headphone outs put out as stereo.
I suspect there is something within my Windows 8 installation that's screwy. I can use these via the RCA inputs coming from my PC's sound card, but I would like to get this working via USB, as mentioned earlier, these speakers have an built in audio interface that I want to use.
I am using windows 8 pro 64 bit but there is no any sound coming from the speaker.i checked everything sound volume and mixer but i think the drivers are installed, see at the screen shot.
...for SELECT programs? For example, I like to game with headphones on, I listen to music with headphones on and more. I don't like to unplug them every time I'm done, that's too confusing and more importantly, I FORGET ALL THE TIME. play my "Free Alarm Clock" through the speakers despite having headphones plugged in. I use it not only to wake up but also to remind me of other daily things.
I'm not looking for something to play sound through headphones and speakers simultaneously. That would defeat the purpose.
I want to Make the audio Play in Headphone as well as laptop speaker at the same time. How to achieve this?
Is it Possible to play one application (example: VLC Player) with laptop loudspeaker and another application (Example: Windows Media Player) via Headphone at the same time ? without each sound interfering?
I got a windows 8.1 laptop, and I've been used to a windows 7 one. One thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem able to switch between audio devices without being told to. Is there any way of getting the system to switch to headphones when they're plugged in, and back to speakers when they're removed?
A couple of days ago, I decided to move my tower from my desk to the floor. Everything was working beautifully up until then. I opened it up and removed some dust. After putting it back together, the monitor wouldn't register anything. I left it for a day, came back, and the monitor magically worked again. The wifi card stopped working, but importantly, the sound was working. After leaving it for a night, I came back, reseated the wifi card, and magically, the card worked again. But now, the sound won't work! It's been several days, and this is the situation:
* The sound is not muted. When I press the speaker icon in the tray, the green volume bar moves up and down, as though sound is playing
* If I troubleshoot the 'playing audio', it says that no peripherals are plugged in. I found that if I went into Realtek HD Audio Manager and disabled 'front panel jack detection' in the connection settings, the computer suddenly apparently realises that I do have speakers connected, and when I troubleshoot audio again, it doesn't find any errors. I have to do this every time I restart, but the sound still doesn't work.
* I've downloaded and reinstalled the Realtek HD Codecs twice.
* In Device Manager, it recognises the integrated sound card:
(the PCI Simple Communications Controller device is Intel Management Engine Interface)
* I've disabled and enabled the devices many times, but no dice.
* I've reinstalled the chipset drivers from the motherboard manufacturer
* I've gone into my computer and unplugged and re-plugged any wires that may have come loose.
It's the holidays, and I want to immerse myself in video games. But that's pretty much impossible with no sound .
I have Asus All In One ET2701INKI, the problem is the microphone does not work properly, It has dense distortion and echo, microphone works in other devices very well.
I am using Windows Pro 64 Bit, and I have latest Realtek Driver, I have tried High Definition Audio but again no solution.
I have read that if I choose "Separate all input jacks as independent input devices" from Realtek Audio Manager's Advanced Settings, I am sure the problem will be solved, but I do not have Advanced Settings.
I have only: Display Icon Notification Window Enable Auto Pop Up Icon
I have a windows 8 laptop and today the sound just stopped working. The windows audio service will not enable and everytime i try to enable it fails due to a duplicate in Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
Now tricky part is i cant open control panel as it doesn't load, i tried reinstalling windows 8 but it also not load. This all was working perfectly just earlier today. I have no sound, just an x by the sound.
I updated to 8.1 because supposedly, it was to offer features similar to win 7. Instead, it's even worse than win 8. Now, the sound quality on my laptop is lousy because the Dolby Audio driver receives an error message and isn't working. I went to Lenovo (I have a Ideapad N Series 580) and followed these instructions from Lenovo and microsoft, which unfortunately didn't work. I'm still getting the same error message. I wish I had never heard of windows 8.1! Many have had this same problem after installing 8.1. This instructions are from Answers.Microsoft, but didn't work.
Open Device Manager. (Right-click on the Start button and choose Device Manager).
Expand the Sound, Video and Games Controllers section.
Right Click on the Conexant Smart Audio HD item and choose Uninstall.
Still in Device Manager, click on Action>Scan for new Hardware.
The Conexant Smart Audio item will re-appear.
Right-Click on it and choose update driver.
Navigate to d:driversaudio.
When that's done, close Device Manager.
Open File Manager and navigate to D:driversAudioDolbyGUI and install Dolby Home Theater.
These instructions are from Lenovo and didn't work.
So about a month after I bought my computer, all of a sudden there was no audio comming from my headphones or speakers. i do have to say that windows 8 was a bit new for me because i was using windows xp the only way i can get audio now, is by plugging in a usb with bluetooth connection. even HDMI won't work. i'm getting no errors when running errorchecker.
Perhaps usefull info: -pc Model No: HP ENVY h8 PC series -running windows 8.1 -i have extra beats audio (for audio settings).
I have a Gigabyte GA-F2A75m-HD2 (Rev 1.0) board and this is quite an odd one. The front port worked with Ubuntu and other Linux distros but it seems to be the opposite case with Windows 8.1. I installed the latest Gigabyte version of the Realtek HD Audio Manager but it still doesn't work. What should I do?
i've been having this problem since I THINK starting to use a HDMI wire. But now, i cannot get any audio from the audio jacks, they are detected, but no sound is produced and I just cannot figure it out. I've disabled the HDMI, installed, un-installed, re-installed audio drivers and pretty much any method and i can find thus far and nothing at all has worked. I'm a huge lover of music, and the is driving me insane!
Note: The speakers are fine, they work with my iPhone.
In my HP Compaq Presario V3000 Laptop with Windows 8.1(32 bit) version, when I play a video such as Youtube, I do not receive any audio although video is played. But Device manager shows the message for 'Sound audio contoller' as 'HD audio driver working properly'. But if I disable Sound/Video Controller and then enable it, the audio comes back properly. But my problem is that every time I open the computer, I have to do this exercise if I wish to watch aan audio/video bit!
After upgrading to Windows 8.1 from 8.0 I noticed that I can no longer search anything under 'Settings' (Winkey + W). I am still able to search for files and the web (Bing ads and all that) however (ie. under 'Everywhere' or Files). I have already rebuilt the index and rebooted/shutdown a few times and it still does not work.
I use my laptop and i plug it via hdmi into a monitor when I am at home, but i unplug it to take it with me to class. Whenever I plug the monitor in it defaults audio settings to the monitor and not to the laptop speakers, even though the default setting is laptop speakers. I have to change the default every time. I have Intel audio drivers installed (6.16.0.3131). It didn't do this until I installed the Intel drivers.
I wanted to go in and customize a little bit of my Windows sound events.
Like for instance, the recycle bin sound , the windows log off sound, even a couple of sounds for Quicken.
I found where we can restore some of the sounds for Windows 8.1 that had disappeared, or at least restore them to where they are selectable.
So I went in and added the windows log off sound, the recycle bin sound, and changed a couple of the sounds for Quicken. Click apply to set them.
However I have found upon signing off and back on or restarting the system, they do not save and revert back to what they were. Am I missing something here?
My screensaver and power setting to turn off the display has stopped working, and these were working the other day. The only thing I have changed is I updated iTunes. I have tried a system restore to before this and this did not fix this.
Among other things I have tried a clean boot, sfc, and checking the energy report. Clean boot did nothing and sfc gave no errors. I uploaded my energy report if any one thinks it could be useful.
I also tried to put the PC into sleep, which I don't normally do and it woke up a little while later. That gave me the following error in event viewer:
The system firmware has changed the processor's memory type range registers (MTRRs) across a sleep state transition (S4). This can result in reduced resume performance.
After deciding to give windows 8 another shot and installing windows 8.1 i still stumbled upon the same issue i had before. sound - YouTube In first part of the clip you can hear sound in windows 7 and in second how it sounds in windows 8. While windows 7 sounds perfect, windows 8 has this kind of "in fishtank" sound, not sure how to describe it and also really heavy and loud bass.
Both windows are using the same realtek hd audio drivers. I guess there is something that needs to be either disabled or changed in windows 8, but im not sure where to look for it anymore.
I have been messing around with realtek control panel but no luck so far. Since everything driver related were the same on both windows it's something inside windows 8 that does this.
Windows 8.1 pro / Realtek R273.
Also using usb sound card for headset and realtek for my mic, i can use realtek for both but the issue is still there.
I have Windows 8.1 and my settings for my recycle bin are "Don't move files to recycle bin. Remove files immediately when deleted." yet my recycle bin still fills up with the files I intend to delete.
I recently found many application would not save to correct type. Some software icons would come out to a blank or white block, but those software actually there. For example, realrecorder is running, it would come out a white block on taskbar on bottom. I tried use 'access and program default' in control panel, still not fix the issue. Ms word, and word pad also come out white blank icon.
So i am going to Reset my PC cause of different issues, and i want to export my Presets i made in Realtek HD Audio Manager, the one you make in the Equalizer and then save. I want to know, where are these save, so i can take them over to a USB drive and after the PC is reseted, i only put them back there, and load them into the Audio Manager.
As example: C:UsersUserAppDataRoamingRealtekEQpreset1.cfg

I've been having this weird problem since i installed windows 8 on my system. at first i thought it is nothing, but after reading forums i found out there is some problems with my system.
in the PC Settings page, when i click on personalize, i get 3 options, two of them are Account Picture and Start Screen, it opens fine, but i am NOT able to click or edit anything in that. I'll also attach screens for some extra information.
Running a family PC, with different user login's. Users is leaving the PC even sometimes after logoff not putting the PC to sleep or switching on the PC, do not log in and leaves the PC running. (training of users, no result).
Task: Ensure the PC goes to sleep within reasonable time.
Sleep settings does not seem to work after user logoff. (3 different login profiles) all set to same standard "balanced" scheme. The standard scheme is changed/set to HDD off 20min, sleep 20 min, hibernate 240min.
A small app is called by screen saver logs the user off after 15 min inactivity with a 1 min warning screen. All working fine with logoff etc.
I had hoped the adjusted standard settings "balanced" was cascaded to the "logoff" state, but it seems to run it's own life after logoff, meaning the PC keeps running (screen goes black as set in the "standard scheme) however the power settings is not putting it to sleep, it takes hours...
The Ethernet card "hard wire" is set to not wake, the wireless adapter is disabled, lock screen is disabled.
Have also tried in the registry to set all default user schemes to = 5 (this was working in XP after logoff) but seems to have no effect in Windows 8. I'm not having Windows 8 pro, so GPO is not an option.
Here comes the questions: Case, after logoff I want the PC to sleep after 20 min. Where is the settings for "logoff" state (i.e. no user logged in and after user logoff) in the registry How to changed the setting in the registry, meaning Dword, name, value for 20 min to sleep
I've installed windows 8 yesterday and noted that front panel audio doesn't work (I use a headphone) connecting the headphone to back jack it's work but front not.
It's a Intel HDA, and using windows's default driver.
all plugged in new computer drivers up to dateset to quadraphonic they were working yesterday but they appear to have stopped on their own. the test speaker option worked at first but now they dont when i click the speaker icon to test on the sound playback options tab the level indicator shows green as though they are working but there is no sound coming out of the rear speakers
