I love using Adobe photo shop (CS6 extended) but a major irritant is that the Adobe menu text always seems too small. (The Photoshop menus - not Windows). how to make the text size bigger.
the second image shows the text in the drop down fine -- deliberately made bigger to explain what I mean - but the Photoshop titles are tiny and hard to read -- and the 3rd image is what you see when using Bridge -- The image browser built into photo shop --
I have increased my DPI to 250% to be able to read stuff in Windows without getting headache. Is there a way of increasing font size of start menu items as well?
And what about text size of items when alt tabbing, text size of charms bar (win+C) and text size of settings (win+i).
It seems to me that instead of improving the good old features of the older versions, Microsoft suddenly decided to replace them with lots of crap instead, not taking into account that there are people out there who don't have the eagle eye vision.
I got my desktop to make it %300 bigger and it's a good size. Right now I have my metro UI as "Make everything bigger option" but it's still hard to read it on my 42 inch from 15 feet away. Anyway I can make the metro UI (windows 8 UI w/e) scale like the desktop?
I changed the text size from default to 250%.the change happened on the first page of a website but when you went to a second or third page of that website the text was back to the default size which was smaller.why doesn't the change happen on the 2 or 3 page?i did not have this problem with windows 7.
I am using a relatively new Toshiba Satellite laptop, which came with Windows 8 (64-bit). Frequently, as I am typing, the text size will suddenly enlarge. I don't believe that my wrist is interfering with the keyboard, but I can't be certain. How do I go about returning the text size to a normal viewing size in Windows 8?
Just switched to my main monitor and am having major problems with websites. Seem every website I go to I have to manually zoom to make the text bigger so I can read. Isn't there a setting to make all the websites the same? Oh, I'm using Firefox if that makes a difference.
Big drawback with the Metro version of IE is that it doesn't seem possible to change the text size -- on a large monitor using the "Normal" version -- the desktop version of IE I can change the text size at will and zoom the image which I usually have at 150%.
The text size on the Metro version is FAR FAR too small for me on a large monitor -- can see myself needing a "White Stick" if I had to carry on reading like that for too long.
This whole idea of rigid window sizes where you can't zoom seems ridiculous.
Note here -- It MIGHT work on a TOUCH screen by pinching the sides but
1) can't test it as I don't have (or want) a touch screen when I'm working at a Desk. 2) The last thing I want to do is leave smeary finger marks over my nice expensive large LCD screen 3) even if it had touch - I'm sitting far too far away from it to make this a practical method of working to alter text and zoom etc.
(On a Samsung smart phone I don't have problems with text size by pinching the screen - but I'm NOT working on a PHONE when I'm at my desk with a nice large screen).
I am using Start8 which has no option for hits. I could try Classic Shell instead and get cascading list of All Programs which I may do for the heck of it.
But in the meantime, I wonder if I can somehow get larger text in All Programs? I have messed with various dpi and other settings.
How do I remove (from the start screen) the text at the bottom that says, on mine "13 new apps insalled". I have opened them up, that way I was hoping it would go away, but it wont. This happened when I installed the Windows 8.1 update 1, yesterday.
Here is a picture of it : (look at the bottom)
It also says "new" at the right side of every app. I rather not have it like this at all. I know what new apps I have installed already.
I run the Cleartype text tuner wizard and chose a thicker text setting but it only works on IE, the rest of programs are unaffected, is there a way to make that wizard work for ALL programs
I have USB external hard disc 320Gb that I use to try Windows 8 since Developer Preview until the latest PreRelease. I boot from this USB HDD to keep internal HDD intact and protected with end point encryption.
It went very well until at some point suddenly I cannot boot from it anymore. All the file is in perfect condition when accessed from other system.
I try to recover with Recovery disc, but found nothing. I delete bootmgr to force corrective action. But still problem not solved.
Later I read that Grub cannot boot if boot loader and file required for boot is beyond 137Gb (128x1024x1024x1024 bytes). But I never read that Windows has same limitation. Anyway I would like to prove that.
I find UltimateDefrag that can move certain files to beginning of the disc. I select bootmgr, boot folder, and Windows folder to be placed in front. It works. I can boot again from my external USB HDD.
I just wonder how to keep those file in 128GiB boundary, it won't happen again?
I'm thinking of getting a new laptop with an SSD internal drive for OS and an external USB drive for all my user files. Based on my research so far, it looks like 128gb SSD should be large enough for Win 8.1, all Win updates, and my programs. The main programs I use are LibreOffice, Chrome, Firefox, MediaMonkey, Kaspersky, VLC, Skype, Audacity, PhotoScape, iTunes, PDF reader and some misc small utility apps. Just the usual apps for a typical user. I'm not a power user, I don't play PC games and I don't edit video or use any Adobe CS apps.
So do you think 128gb SSD is enough? Or should I play it safe and get larger?
When I highlight text in Word 2010, the background of the highlight becomes white and the text itself becomes dark blue. Is there a way to change it in Regedit (or elsewhere)?
I tried fiddling with colors here, but no luck:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Control Panel > Colors HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Control Panel > Desktop Colors
I can't seem to find where you can increase the size of the fonts used within the tiles on the start menu in 8.1. Is it possible to do, and if so, where would I do it at?
i am wanting to install some application that i had on my windoes XP 32 bit....but when i try to install them to windows 8 64 bit, there pops out a message saying that the applications are not supported by the system .....Is there any way to make a 32 bit application to run on a 64 bit windows 8?
When I first got my new laptop I made and image using Asus backup restore but all it did was make a copy of the restore partition on the hard drive. Is there a way to make an image of what the computer is with all the data and programs there are installed? I had to do a restore and then I had to reinstall everything and reload all my data files. This took a long time to do. It would be so much easier to just have an image of everything just the way it is now.
I just got Windows 8, and there are some programs that I want exclusively on my account. We have two accounts set up so far, and I just don't want to clutter up the other user's desktop with my stuff. Is there a way to assign a program to certain users?
When watching Netflix and Amazon Prime, in full-screen mode, I cannot eliminate the progress bar at the bottom, even though the mouse is off of the screen.
Is there a way to make the progress bar disappear?
Making the mouse cursor disappear would be one way. But how?
When I first installed Windows 8 there was the IE tile, with lighter blue background and white icon. Then I installed Chrome, at first start I used it as my default browser, mostly in Windows 8 mode, sometimes in desktop mode, but it always had the grey background tile with the Chrome icon. I wanted to make new tiles for my non-metro apps with OblyTile, and because I use IE sometimes I made one for that too, but after that my Chrome tile became a standard non-metro style tile with blue bg and smaller icon, using it first opens the desktop then the metro-mode chrome, and the original IE tile (I kept it from the beginning) reversed to the original, blue bg, white icon style, but Chrome is the default browser.
reverse Chrome to the gray bg tile and make it open the metro-mode without first opening the desktop?
Am "using new HP laptop 2000-2d27dx Windows 8.1. Only way I shutdown or restart is going to "charms" panel - Settings - then click Power off icon and choose Sleep, Shutdown or Restart. Is there a way to put a SHORTCUT for Shutdown and Restart on the desktop and/or the Start screen?
On Windows 8.1 I installed 8Gadgetpack to bring back the Windows 7 sidebar, and for the most part it works great except for one thing, when I click show desktop (or press win+D) it hides the gadgets as well. Is there a way to prevent this without having to press win+G all the time after showing desktop?
I want to make a backup copy of SUPERAntiSpyware on a dvd. I can only get the download as there is no longer the option to get a backup disk. How do I get a dvd backup copy from the download ...
