I have a folder that contains a bunch of files that contain craft shows. If I want to search for a file that contains a specific show I'll open the folder then in the search field in the top right corner I'll type in "Christmas Carousel Craft Show". The problem is that every single file containing the word "christmas" or the word "carousel" or the word "craft" or the word "show" pops up! I just want to find the file with the phrase "Christmas Carousel Craft Show".
My x86 win 8.1 desktop continues to highlight misspelled words, wether this option is enabled or disabled in Settings, PC and Devices, Typing or not.
I have checked the relevant registry keys, and both values are 0.
The only cause I can think of is Skydrive Sync my settings across devices..When I initially added a device, a Surface 2, settings on both machines differed, and then I enabled Sync on both.
It's a small annoyance, but that little red squiggly line is really beginning to bug me
Ok, I'm using the Modern Skype app and I want to change my picture.
So I click on my user pic and I am taken to My Pictures folder.
But I don't wanna be there, so I "Go Up" to the Users Folder and click/open Play. But I do not see App Data listed.
What I would like to do is browse to this specific folder without leaving the Modern Skype app.
c:UsersPlayAppDataRoamingSkypePictures
Why? Because that is where the picture I wish to use is located. I am well aware that I could drop out of the Modern interface and copy/move the file from there to the My Pictures folder.
Paint Shop Pro 7 is installed on my Windows 8 computer yet when I open a picture it is not an option to open with it.
I prefer this, even though some of the options are newer and better because I know PSP7 inside and out and can maneuver and edit so much better than learning a new program. I don't really want to learn a new program. Why isn't it an option? How can I make it an option?
Surely I'm not the only one to have a game I'm about to watch completely ruined by seeing a picture preview of a winning player being interviewed in the post game. I would think there would be an army of ticked off sports fans in an uproar to fix this but surprisingly Google search has yielded nothing.
Windows Office 2007 - There is no better - however the migration to Win 8 ruined all my default settings! Anyhoo, I have already sussed out that one may apply headers and footers to repeating pages, but I'm very confused as to how one may apply ones business design - which is a WHOLE page, over which I type my gumpf... So far, I just insert a text box onto the page, but this only works for one page at a time. The answer should lie in converting it all to a JPG.
Recently i noticed most .avi videos have poor picture quality on Windows Media Player in Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit. Jagged lines around the images in the videos. Very few .avi i have play fine, movies .avi which do not on Windows Media Player.
When i play these same .avi videos in Cyberlink PowerDVD the picture is good.
I have tried resetting Windows Media Player through troubleshooting but this did not work at all.
I have most recent video drivers for my graphics card which is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti SSC.
I have posted both images of each player to see what i mean.
I want to hide an exe file in a picture that when the person open the pic , it shows him the picture but in the background the exe file runs and does its work. Is it possible?
I was scanning some papers with Scan in Windows 8, but when they were scanned and I viewed them in Scan the image was much larger than the original and I couldn't find any 'Original size' option or similiar. So how do I view papers and images in original size in Scan and aswell when I view them in Paint and other programs?
Okay, so I have been surfing the internet and it is said you can change your Microsoft Games avatar through the Games app....They said it works in 8 and 8.1. Yet I have not found the button "Edit Avatar" in the Games app.
Here is a screenshot of where I was told I would be :
I just recently upgraded to 8.1, and I noticed something minor is missing, or I just can't figure it out.
When I was using Win7, I would occasionally use the URL of a picture to upload it to Facebook, instead of saving it to my computer and uploading it like that. In Win8, there's no more familiar "file select" box, and nowhere to paste the url to the image
(Other than the obvious "save it to your harddrive which I don't want to do.)
Currently in the process of locating my "library folders" to my storage drive rather than keeping them on my boot drive. In the process, I made a mistake of somehow syncing my music folder with my pictures folder. Now they open up to the same directory on my storage drive. At the same time, my pictures folder was renamed to Music.
1.) How do I disconnect my original "pictures folder" (which is now renamed to music and is essentially the same folder as my music folder).
Windows 8.1 pictures are stripped in the small preview so i can't see what i'm opening until i've opened it. It is fine once it is open just when it is smaller?
Got my new WIN 8 pc set up (see below). webcam videos (AVI) play fine. Digital camera videos (MOV) play fine. The issue is with MPG videos. They have sound but no picture. These are videos originally on VHS, burned to DVD and then copied to hard drive. They play fine on WIN 7, but not WIN 8. When I open them with WMP, I have sound, but no picture. When I open them with VIDEO, I get the error: "That item was encoded in a format that is not supported by your version of Windows." Do I need third-party software to view these correctly? __________________ HP PAVILION SLIMLINE 400 WINDOWS 8 4 GB RAM 64 BIT 1TB HDD
I've used the method 2 from the sevenforums tutorial to include a network folder in the Picture Library. In Windows 7 it works with thumbnails but not in Windows 8.
I am trying to figure out how to change my picture on my Windows 8 startup screen. I looked at a few tutorials on how to do it; so far nothing has worked out for me.
It should be as easy as deleting the picture, but it's not... nothing is as easy as it should be in this train wreck. How do you delete an old account picture? I've tried just replacing it, but that turns into a whole puzzle you need to unravel first. If you pick the picture you want to replace, you would think that you would make it the big one of the 3, but you'd be wrong... that would make too much sense. If you hit browse and pick a new picture, the big one moves to the right and the new picture becomes the big one. Eventually you end up with 3 pictures and you get stuck in a sort of Rubic's Cube just trying to get the picture you want. This is some really bad software. Even the most die-hard M$ defenders have to know it, whether they want to admit it or not. So... how do you remove all the old pictures and only have the one you want.

When I try to open up my pictures folder, I can not see any previews of photos and I have to go through an entire folder using the Microsoft Picture viewer to view each and every picture then memorize the photo number in order to attach it to any e-mail or to insert it into my Outlook 2007. Is there an incompatibility issue here ? 2007 vs Windows 8.1 ?? What can I do to rectify the situation ?
this is a known issue and may users have been facing exactly the same problem with Windows 8 (source: Google)
Problem: I can't change my User Account picture. Whenever I click on the "Browse" button, nothing happens. Same goes for whenever I try to change the Lock Screen.
I read somewhere CCleaner removes some essential shortcuts which can prevent that, but I don't see that being the case coz I restored all the icons and even ran "sfc /scannow" just to be sure of that.
Just performed a clean install of Windows 8 Pro. x64 on a new system. As soon as Windows finished installing, I opened secpol.msc, enabled the built-in administrator account, rebooted and deleted the first account I made during Windows setup and am now using the built-in administrator account as my main account. I don't care if the Metro apps. don't work.
What I want though is a way to change the account picture for this built-in administrator account. When I go into the Metro UI, click on the my username at the top right of the screen and click on "Change account picture", nothing happens.
When I go into the desktop then Control Panel -> User Accounts, there is no option to change the account picture.
How to change the user account picture for the built-in administrator account?

I took a snapshot using the webcam (via the Skype app) and it created a file C:UsersJohnDoePicturesCamera RollThe Lame Picture.png
It's been deleted for days (including the 'Camera Roll' subdirectory it rode in on).
Per recommendations elsewhere online: I've removed all the suspect live-tiles from the Start menu: Photos, Skype, Camera - and rebooted - but no way Jose. little thumbnail is still rotating through the lineup like nobodies business.
