All Docs Duplicated With Machine Name Error 0x80070490
May 15, 2014
All my docs have suddenly been duplicated. The duplicate files have been renamed with the machine name (Peters_Laptop). I cannot open the original files and get a message "1 Interrupted Action" An unexpected message is keeping you from copying the file. Error code 0x80070490 Element not found.
This has applied to ALL of my documents.
I have tried to delete all the useless files and rename the changed versions back to the original names. But after a reboot, the duplicates are back!
I am running Win 8.1 on a Dell Inspiron Laptop. Is this related to SkyDrive?
I too keep getting the "Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490" Event Log Message on one of the three machines I have Windows 8.1 Update 1 installed on. I have done the Sync routine many times and I have "Disabled" the WSRefreshAppsListTask and yet I still get the Event Log Error every day when I boot the system. Seems like there must be something else going on that is screwed up on this system.
I have (also according to Windows Control Panel > Installed Updates) successfully installed KB2919355 on 13th Apr 2014. So to me, the KB2919355 is in place (and various KB installations after that, too) <- I do get all the Windows System updates (including security updates) BUT not Windows Store application updates.
So the problem is the "Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490" which pops into Windows Event log on daily basis.
TEMPORARILY fix: running Windows update troubleshooter fixes the problem (it stops and restarts BITS and Cryptographic services) and after a while I get a notification to the Windows Store Tile that there are new updates (if any). BUT after rebooting Windows the problem (Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490) always re-appears in the Event logs.
Here is the report of successful Windows update troubleshooter.
Also:
1) running DISM does not work (see below)
2) Going to Store settings and "Sync licenses" does not work
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth -> [==========================100.0%==========================] The restore operation failed. Either the repair source was not found or the comp onent store cannot be repaired. Error: 0x800f081f DISM failed. No operation was performed. For more information, review the log file. The DISM log file can be found at C:WINDOWSLogsDISMdism.log
In setting up a new Acer Aspire V I have managed to rename the default Pictures folder Documents and I now have two folders called Documents - see below:
I was trying to move the Documents and Pictures folders to DropBox (because DropBox is encrypted) in order to have all contents synced. I believe the problem may have arisen because Windows 8.1 (I upgraded from installed Windows 8 immediately after buying the PC and before the install of Office 365) may have put the Documents folder in Skydrive folder by default.
To complicate matters Acer also has some form of cloud storage that may be in the mix -the clear.fi folder below? It is worth noting that the two folders below appear in both Documents folders (above) even although one still had the old Pictures icon - see above.
Here is a shot of the folders currently in the relevant user folder:
Is there any way to unscramble this mess and get the folders to DropBox?
I have a Mac running Windows 8.1 via Parallels. What I am trying to do is set up a test 2012 SBS my PC and while trying to connect to my local machine on Hyper-V I get this [URL] I've tried running as admin, I've also tried starting services however I get this [URL]
I'm using an AlienWare M14 machine. I tried to create a virtual machine locally using Client Hyper-V on Windows 8 Pro, but it still doesn't work (took me a lot of time). I added the Hyper-V features in "Turn windows feature on or off", and all of the requirements to run Hyper-V are fulfilled (SLAT, BIOS, 64 bits, ...) (I attach the msinfo32 output in this post). At the last step in creating a virtual machine, it says "... General access denied error... (0x80070005)" (for details, check my attached image).
After losing my Metro tiles to an error, and not being able to restore or refresh my PC, I decided to purge and re-install. I have several HDD's in my computer, and would like to learn how to map documents, music, etc. to my D: drive by default, to save room on C: for Windows and programs. I think it is done by RegEdit.
I have been using the computer with Windows 8 for 7 months now. I'm basically unhappy with it but have been using it. Yesterday I tried to post a pic on an email. A box came up saying "documents.library-ms" is no longer working. Then an additional window saying There is a problem opening this location.
I did a reset to not loose the files. After that It came up without the windows 8 windows. I did another reset without files being lost and it came up with some windows. I restarted the computer and original windows screen came up without all I'd added over time. I tried pulling up a doc and got the same documents-library-ms notification. I went to search and files and all the docs and pics are there but will not pull up when you go to libraries.
A little while ago i opened up one of my wordpad documents that was 7 pages long and to my great surprise all the data i had previously saved in this document was missing! I swear i did not delete the 7 pages of data myself. Today i opened up another wordpad document and guess what all the data i had saved in this doc was no longer there too! Is there any way of retrieving the lost data or is it lost for good? I repeat i definitely did not delete the data knowingly myself.
Using Onedrive with Windows 8. Need to access Word docs created on my desktop on my Ipad.
I can not sync the Onedrive word docs set up on my desktop to Onedrive - permission issue - yet I have signed in, checked account details, permissions till I'm blue in the face.
It will sync non Office docs like PDFs, but not Excel or Powerpoint.
Installed Office Professional Plus 2010 on new computer with Windows 8. Can create and open all Office documents except unable to open existing Excel documents. When try to open, I am asked for the activation key. When key is entered, get message that key is not valid. Inserted install disk and re-entered activation key. Did not work.
(Word 2010) I found at least half a dozen methods on the Microsoft Forums for changing Word's "Normal Template" and making the changes permanent. It works for the font and margins, but not for the background color. In fact, when I open a new document and go to "Page Layout > Page Color" it shows that the color I want is already selected, and yet the background of the document is still white!
Lately I am getting this error message when tying to download."You've reached the bandwidth limit for viewing or downloading files that aren't in Google Docs format. Please try again later. You can also try to download the original document by clicking here."I am using Win 8.1. does this in Chrome and Explorer, and in both Yahoo and Google search engines.
I have two different Microsoft accounts on my Windows 8 machine, which is a laptop. One of them is an account I got from my ISP and has been in use for years but that one is disappearing in a few days (I think) because I cancelled my account with my ISP. The other account is one I created within the last couple of weeks.
In transitioning to the new account, I'm finding it considerably more work than I expected and wonder if I am ignorant of some easier ways of doing things. For instance, I was surprised that the applications installed under the older account aren't visible under the new accounts. Is there an easy way to make them visible or do I really need to reinstall the same applications under the new account from scratch? For example, let's say I have a game like Taptiles on the old account and want it visible under the new account: do I really need to do a fresh install under the new account? Or is there an easier way to be able to play Taptiles from the copy I originally installed under the original account?
Also, what is the easiest way to pass data back and forth between the two accounts? I did a copy within a file on the original account and switched to the second account to paste that information in and was disappointed to find that it was not possible. I ended up sending an email to myself then copied from the email on the newer account. It struck me that there must be a better way but I'm not sure what that would be.
Also, with respect to XBox, some of the XBox games had accumulated fairly substantial scores as a result of playing the daily challenges. Is there any way to roll the scores from the old account into the new account, even though they have different "gamer tags" (the ID by which I am known when I play TapTiles or Mahjong or whatever)?
've always been a Mac user, and now I'm thinking of switching to a Sony Vaio laptop running Windows 8
I don't do a lot of heavy gaming but I do play Minecraft. I looked at the specs of that laptop, it was Core i5 processor at 1.8/2.7 GHz 4gb ram and nvidia GeForce graphics card dedicated with 2gb. Will these specs be enough to run Minecraft without any lag? Also, why did it say 1.8/2.7 GHz? Which one is it?
get a XP vhd up and running *except* I do not have Network or USB capabilities. Apparently I am suppose to get an option to install the drivers from the host computer (Windows 8.1); I do not see/get that option.
I have many virtual machines in my VMWare Workstation install on Windows 7. I have now let Windows 8.1 lose on the bare metal of this machine as a dual booting system. I have enabled Hyper V on 8.1 to "play around with it and when I went to install VMWare the installer quit stating Workstation could not be installed with Hyper V installed. I don't have to know about Hyper V was just going to play around with it but VMWare will always be my main virtual platform.
I have an SSD machine with 90 Gbytes of storage running at home, not connected to server. I use a USB drive for extra capacity but I seldom have much spare space on C: as I have SQL server and Visual Studio installed. Looking at storage use on C: I notice 1.7 Gbytes of files in C:UsersSimonAppDataRoaming. Can I delete these as I use my login on only one computer at home? Roaming profiles are not enabled.
There are also 1.9 GBytes of files on C:UsersAll Users. I believe All Users is used for creating profiles for new users and All Users contains folders corresponding to those in C:Programs and C:Programs (x86). Can I delete any folders with programs that wouldn't be needed by any new accounts I might create?
I have just been given an Asus laptop as a present, it is running Windows 8. I have a copy of Works 7 from a previous machine and wondered if it would work on the Windows 8 laptop?
I've noticed sometimes when I first powerup my windows 8 machine, it turns on, but I get no display on my monitor (has happened with 2 monitors). I am using the latest beta ATI drivers for my card. The weird thing is, pressing delete i dont even get the bios to appear, just a black/dark monitor screen. I am wondering if repairing the bootloader could fix this? How to repair the bootloader? I won't loose any of my data, will I?
After turning off, turning on the computer a few times, I finally get display and can get into windows 8, but it's annoying.
How do I save a Virtual Machine to do a restore? I just finished a XP Pro VMware machine and I want to save it. There is a folder named Virtual Machines under My Documents. Is this what I backup?
I've been having an issue with my Acer S7-391. I bought the Windows 8 machine in December, and the majority of the time when I start it up in the morning, it doesn't boot properly - it hangs on a black screen for ages. I then have to hit the off button and boot it back up again and, sometimes, it boots after having to go through a system repair. Also, sometimes it does boot properly from the get-go without having to jump through hoops - not often though.
Originally I thought it was an issue with me having upgraded to Windows 8.1 shortly after buying the laptop, but having rolled the machine back to Windows 8, the issue prevailed. Through trial and error, though, I've figured out when it does and when it doesn't boot properly (yeah, I'm slow). Basically, it never boots properly when I have a USB mouse/keyboard plugged in. I take them out, boot the machine, and can plug them in again almost immediately and everything works fine. But NEVER does it boot with these devices plugged in from the start.
Here's a photo of it anyway (below).
Any solution here - other than unplugging my USB peripherals on boot - t'
I am using Windows Virtual PC which was a 64-Bit version I installed, I got XP Home 32-Bit installed via it perfectly and tried to install Windows 8 x64 AND THEN Windows 8.1 x64 but on both I got the BSOD (in the Virtual Machine) almost straight away saying 64-bit CPU is not supported?
I've read this may be due to not having VTx but I do as my CPU is a 3470 (Ivy Bridge) and SIW says its enabled as does BIOS
I am testing some Windows ISO's to check to make sure they are OEM and ask for product key during install but also to diagnose a WSUS Offline issue in windows 8 that reverses all updates right at the end saying there was a problem, the software creator needs a log and I ain't got time at work.
I would like to run ubuntu as virtual machine on my win 8 desktop pc. I installed vmware player and then separately downloaded an ubuntu iso- couple of problems:-
There seems no option on vmware player to create a VMVMware player doesn't seem to recognise iso files - its looking for a vmx file - which I don't appear to have.... This is my first venture into vm's -
I have a PC with Win 7 32 bit installed and I want to install a clean Win 8 Pro 64 bit on the machine. Do I have to do a complete reformat before I a can load the Win 8 or will it just do an install of the new operating system?
All of a sudden I have 4 Removable Drives on my windows 8 machine. I've tried removing these, but they return as soon as I restart.
I went into computer/disk management, right clicked each and uninstalled the driver, but no way. So I went to Device Manager and first disabled and then uninstalled each one of them, but still they exist immediately on restarting the system. They react to "eject" on right-click by stating
The disk drives as seen in Device Manager are:
Generic - Compact Flash USB Device Generic - MS/MS-Pro USB Device Generic - SD/MMC USB Device Generic - SM/xD-Picture USB Device
