View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I Recieved A Laptop in gift which I owned in the past which is A Dell XPS 15-L521X. It was running all good but suddenly Today morning when I pressed the power button and it boot through the Dell splash screen and after that It booted normal through the Windows 8 boot screen but after that It stucked at a Black Screen.
I passed on 20-min but it stucked there. No Cursor, nothing except The Black Screen. I ran Dell Pre-Boot System Assesment to check any Hardware failware but no everything is just fine. I remember That My Dell Driver Update Utility Notified me that it installed latest Intel Rapid Start Technology Driver on my last boot but I dont know whether its causing the error but The Intel Rapid Start Technology is very essential for SSD users so why will it cause errors?
Whenever my windows startup i get a popup error message which says "Your system does not appear to have Intel Rapid Start Technology enabled". I have a 32G SSDR mSATA Card. I have not received this message when I was having Windows 8. How to enable Intel Rapid Start Technology?
When i tried to install Intel Rapid Start Technology Driver from Dell Drivers (APP_iRST_W8.1_A01_Setup-7VYC3_ZPE) i get message stating "The Computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."
I am having this problem: Windows 8, Dell Optiplex 980, i5, 8g ram, etc.
There is... 4 Quick Beeps Every 60 Seconds - and I timed it. And I attached a WAV file for your listening pleasure.
I just upgraded to W8P and can't figure out how to quickly access Library to get to Music, Pictures, etc. which I do frequently. With W7 it was two clicks on the Start button. I've created a Computer tile on the Start page to access it, but I'm thinking there must be a better way.

How can I backup my Quick launch Task bar? If I format my Win 8 and reinstall Win 8 I want back my Quick launch. another Problem, is there a way to set Live Mail into the tray?
I have an XP style Quick Launch bar on my taskbar.* Every once in awhile, such as this morning, it disappears on startup and Sys Restore doesn't bring it back. It's located via %appdata%MicrosoftInternet Explorer and there's already a Quick Launch folder. Short of recreating it, is there a quick way to bring the whole thing back in one piece?
*Bring back Windows XP Quick Launch in Windows 7Being PC | Being PC
Update: Strange. I created a new Quick Launch toolbar, got rid of show text and show title, and all the links were there to be dragged to the left, only in alphabetical order, per the folder list. So problem solved, something learned. Though not sure why it disappears every so often.
I have 3 partitions on my main boot drive. XP SP3, win 8.1 32 bit and win 8.1 64 bit. I ran system image backup in the 64 bit version at 7pm and it took an hour to back up these 3 partitions to another hard drive on my system.
I made some changes to the 64 bit OS so decided to update the image, and ran from the file history window with the same 3 partitions, this time it only took half an hour. I was given an overwrite warning but the last drive to be imaged the 32 bit win 8 seemed to complete very quickly.
If the partition hasn't changed will system image skip it and not overwrite the partition image? I notice there are 3 60gb files on the backup hard disk presumably each partition. I even checked the backup log to confirm the first took one hour and second only took half an hour. Using the get items command for wbadmin it says all three partitions are available for bare metal recovery.
I am unable to find any option to stream audio to my pc. In windows 7 was able to do it by just pairing my phone with the pc. But in windows 8 im just able to see these options. (Screenshot) no option to use pc as headset or to play audio unlike in windows 7. I am using HTC sensation to connect.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhat I am asking for is a request to manually size the icons in the QuickLaunch toolbar. I do not want a suggestion that states an alternative way for viewing my icons (for example, pinning programs or what-not).
I am asking to see if there is a registry tweak that manually sets the size of the icons in the QuickLaunch toolbar (refer to the image). They are a bit small, and want to slightly increase their sizes.
What can cause this:
One week old installation. This morning when first booted This is how my native Windows app tiles looked like, third party tiles OK. Also the Quick Launch toolbar on desktop Taskbar was missing.
SFC / SCANNOW finds nothing.
I have restore points and system image, no problems there, but before restoring ...
I own a ASUS RT-N66U and I have consistent buffering issues (pretty major one at that) and this has gotten worst over time. I can't stream a single 30 minute video without the connection buffering 3-4 times and I'm talking about 30-60 seconds a pop. It's rather annoying. I am also running the latest firmware with my router.
I have one PC in which my router is connected too. I also have the following devices on my network.
Apple TV x2
iPad
iPhone x3

Being impossible to get my dial-up shortcut from the desktop onto the taskbar of my new Windows 8 laptop, I followed the tutorial to add Quick Launch toolbar to the taskbar, and successfully moved the shortcut tothere.
With Vista, XP etc, one click on Quick Launch toolbar shortcut icon would open this "Connect TPG" window shown below. You then just clicked <Dial> button to connect directly to the ISP.
(Note: TPG is the name of the ISP)
However, with my Windows 8, three mouse operations all over the screen are required to arrive at this window:
1. You click the Quick Launch shortcut icon and the Charms sidebar opens.
2. Then you have to select the ISP under the Connections header, which causes a <Connect> button to pop up.
3. Which when clicked finally brings you to the above "Connect TPG" window.
how to open this window directly from the Quick Launch toolbar or how to pin a shortcut to the taskbar to achieve the same outcome?
NB, pinning "Network Connections" shortcut to taskbar is not the answer, as you still then required to the go through the same 3 operations mentioned above.
For further info, the properties window of the dial-up shortcut is shown below.
The target string is: {BA126AD7-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E}
Recently, I have gotten an ASUS notebook as a gift and I've noticed that there is one big issue with it. Whenever I stream music from Spotify or watch a movie on Netflix, the audio begins to create a crackling static noise. The issue with the stuttering is whenever I have something playing in the background such as Spotify, whenever I begin to switch tabs or load a new site, the audio begins to stutter and mess up. I don't know what the problem is. I've tried updating my drivers. I've tried changing the default playback on my playback device as well but to no avail. My computer has the Realtek High Definition Audio driver. I have heard that Realtek drivers and ASUS machines don't usually function well together but I am not sure if that's the case.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy computer has always had intermittent BSOD but generally it's been only 1-2 a month and after a system restart everything works fine. In the last couple of weeks I've been getting BSOD after only a few minutes of operation every time I start up and generally after these errors the computer won't boot - sometimes it will be a black screen after BIOS check, sometimes it won't even get that far - just black screen without the BIOS check even starting. Usually the only way to get it to boot again is to disconnect the power and remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard. I've run driver verifier which has indeed generated it's own minidumps but I don't really understand what these error reports are trying to tell me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor a couple weeks I have been streaming shows to my ps3 from my computer. On my PS3 I have access to four folders, Videos, Music, Pictures, and Playlists, the first three of which I can locate on my computer. When I want to watch a video, I simply copy it into the Videos folder on my computer, then stream from there.
Now I'd like to stream music, my problem is that my music isn't in my Music folder, I have it in a separate folder that doesn't show up on my PS3. Copying over all my music would take time, and I'd also have to redo my WMP playlists. I have tried adding this folder to my shared folder list, and to my Music library, but neither of these things made a difference.
I've spent a couple hours now trying to figure this out, but I can't seem to find anything on google that relates to my specific problem, but there is absolutely no way I'm the first person who's ever wanted to access folder's other than the 4 I've mentioned.
I just uninstall my AMD because it keeps crashing when I start a game that use it. But after that, I can't re-install AMD 7450/7650 graphic driver that was supplied by Dell for my laptop. I install it with custom installation and only check the AMD Display Driver and Catalyst Control Center. The CCC installed fine, but not with the display driver. On installation, it just kind of skipping 70% of the progress bar and I would get the "installation complete - warnings occurred during installation"
I can still see the old driver which is AMD 6600M and 6700M series in device manager. Whenever I tried to open CCC, it shows "AMD Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using AMD CCC." Now I'm stuck using integrated Intel HD Graphic 3000.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have never ran into before with any Windows Operating system, including Windows 7. I am doing some testing on my computer, and I'm trying to do a *CLEAN* install of my video drivers. I uninstall all of the relevant drivers from Programs and Features. After that, I restart my computer. Upon restart, Windows decides it wants to automatically install the default drivers that it comes with.
Fair enough. I go to Device Manager and uninstall the drivers manually, stating that I want to delete those drivers as well. Restart. Windows, again, decides it wants to install the default drivers.
Okay. I go into System Settings, Advanced Settings, and I change the Settings so that Windows no longer looks for drivers via Windows Update. Re-uninstall all drivers (again, specifying that I wish to delete the drivers) and restart. Window STILL persists in installing default drivers. At this point I'm getting desperate, so I go into gpedit.msc and disable automatic installation of devices. Restart. This resolves the issue, but the problem with altering this setting is now I cannot manually install those drivers as well. As soon as I reenable the setting, Windows immediately starts reinstalling the default video drivers.
How to prevent Windows 8 from auto installing video drivers. Is there a setting that I can change that will prevent Windows from automatically searching for what it perceives to be new hardware? If I can change that, then I may be able to manually install my drivers without overlapping old drivers.
