I gave my computer to my brother for a day and when I got it back windows 7 stopped connecting to wireless .I unninstalled "steam" for counter strike that he installed but that didn't fix it.I have an XP installed on the same computer and it connects just fine . Also my smartphone , 2 laptops and an XP computer connect just fine so it's NOT a router problem .Most of the times it connects and says "no internet" .Sometimes it says I have internet but when I open chrome or other browser no page opens . But I can open the router page and I don't see my computer in the DHCP list.I believe is either something my brother installed , either a virus he got but I don't know how to troubleshoot
A coworkers mother recently came to me with her son's (coworkers brother) laptop saying it wont connect to the internet. She said it started happening when he installed drivers for his printer. He uses a Virgin Mobile 3g broadband usb adapter for internet, and for the life of me I can't figure out whats wrong. It connects (and gets to the virgin mobile account website) but any other website doesn't go through. Both wireless card and 3g card do this.
Windows 7 home premium - 64 bit OS - Dell Inspiron 5720.Currently, I have a wireless network at home. No problem with 2 computers connected to it. Wife just got new Dell computer. It recognizes the wireless, it connects, but, No internet.I take the computer to work, and it connects right away to the wireless network, no problem, internet works perfectly.
My laptop does not connect to the internet on the wireless networks in my flat. It will connect to the network, but will not have internet access. There are several unsecured wireless networks available run by the flat and I can't connect to the internet on any of them, whereas other members of the flats and my flatmates are able to. This suggests there is not a problem as such with the router, turning it off and on again has already been attempted. When I moved in, the man in charge of maintaining/organising etc the flats took my MAC address and allowed my laptop access. Yet I cannot connect to the internet. I went to my uni's library and connected to the internet no problem. I have tried turning off my internet security, looking at the properties of the wireless connection and attempting to edit settings (changing them back again afterwards), and nothing seems to be working.

I have a Dell XPS 8300 (running Windows 7 Home Premium) that has lost Internet access. It was fine until yesterday. It shows that it's connected to my home wireless network, but cannot acces the Internet. All our other computers (desktops, laptops & iPad - all running different OS) are able to connect.
I checked the network card, using the Windows Device Manager, and it shows that it is "working properly" and that there are no conflicting devices. What should I do next?
I was installing a software on my other laptop (it had SQL software with it) and I ran into some trouble as I got error problems that the installation of the software had failed and now whatever I do, I can't access the web! Sure enough, my wireless connection connects successfully and it indicates that I am on the "Internet" but every time I try to use either firefox or internet explorer to go to a web site, it says I don't have a connection.

On 2 different laptops, one running professional, the other running Home Media, the computer tries to connect to my home network twice. The most frequent example is when I try to connect wirelessly, in network connections I will see my network named two time. "Connected to Network, Network1" When this happens I can not connect to the internet. I AM connected to the network and can see other PC's in the network. If I disable the device and re-enable it, this usually solves the issue.
I bought a Windows 7 machine today. I went home and plugged the ethernet jack into the computer - it finds the connection, but won't connect to the internet. The wireless works fine. The wired works on my old vista machine. I went over the a friend's place - same deal, and their new Windows 7 machine doesn't work in the wired connection either. We are both Shaw cable subscribers in Western Canada.
I have tried restarting, disabling/re-enabling the drivers, updating the connection drivers. I can't think of anything else - suggestions?
I have an HP laptop and out of the blue, it will just not connect to the internet wirelessly. It will say connected but no internet access. This happens and random times, at least once a week, and for exactly 24 hours between 1 a.m. one day to 1 a.m. the next day. I can connect via ethernet cable just fine. My phone and TV can connect wirelessly, but not my internet.I have tried resetting my router/modem multiple times when this has happened to no avail. I have factory restored my computer. I have deleted my driver and reinstalled it. Literally the only thing that has worked thus far is connecting to an ethernet cable. I called my ISP and they said my router is fine and nothing is wrong with it.Before you ask, NO, I don't have any monitoring software or any software that prevents the use of internet after a certain time. Keep in mind that my computer is totally factory resetored, totally clean, nothing on it but what it came with.
I've just started to encounter a problem with Win7. My PC is fine until I connect to the net using wireless. I use a dongle and can connect it to the PC without issue and everything works correctly. However when I connect to the internet my pc freezes and thats it I need to forcefully restart. I've tried closing programs in the taskmanager so I'm left with the bare essentials but something is killing it.I've tried booting in safe mode with networking and this WILL work and allows me to browse and work the PC as normal, however booting back in normal mode produces the same issue.I've tried a clean boot and booted with only system requirements and not any startup items but the problem persists

I have a brand new ASUS X54 C laptop. It detects the wireless network, and will connect to the network, but it shows "no internet access." When I ran the troubleshooter it said "default gateway not available." I updated Windows and my drivers, and that did not help. I had Comcast check the new router, and they said it was okay. My cell phone connects to the internet perfectly through the same wifi.I'm out of ideas. I can connect to the internet by ethernet, but that's all.
I have been having a problem with my Desktop for about a week now. It is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. No built in wireless adapter, but using a USB TP-Link TL-WN722N wireless adapter. The computer can connect to the network, but the internet connection just stopped working. My cell phone, xBox, and Wii can all connect just fine and have internet connectivity. I have already tried:
I have a Netgear N600 Dual band router WNDR3400 and I believe a WNR2000 wireless adapter.Apparently this router is a dual band, I set up 2 different networks when doing the initial install, but yet my computer only sees the 2nd network? What other info do you guys need to help me figure out why it keeps dropping the connection?
my newly built pc only connects to the internet when directly connected to the modem. when connected to the Linksys WRT54G, the internet does not work and there are no status lights on the ethernet port on my computer. however all other computers and devices, wired and wireless, all work with the router. my new computer is the only one that doesnt work with the router.
1. reset the router and the modem
2. updated all drivers
3. checked to make sure the cable is good and the port on the router is good (they're both good, i use this ethernet cord and router port for my xbox and it works fine.)
4. DNS and DHCP are enabled
5. i've worked on this crap for 3 days now so ive done a lot more trouble shooting than this, i just cant remember everything.
On my desktop PC I run Win 7 Premium 64bit and I also have a new Dell XPS 16 with Win 7 64 bit Professional laptop connected to a homegroup with the desktop using wireless wi.fi. It works perfectly. I need to add an HP laptop to the homegroup network with a wireless connection. Connection to the homegroup is fine but the HP, running Vista, cannot connect to the internet. The HP laptop has no need to share files or anything on the homegroup except maybe the printer, once in a while. The homegroup has excellent access to the internet, the HP has access to the homegroup but no access to the internet.IP and DNS servers are set at "Automatically connect.." Router is a Billion 7800N with latest firmware. The desktop is in my home office, the Dell in the family room (about 30' one wall) the HP is in an adjacent bedroom (about 20' with two walls). The dell works superbly in that bedroom. Core two quad 2.8 Ghz (Q6600_ 9600GT GPU I cannot sort this one out.
My D-Link rooter is driving me nuts! Basically I have many computers in my home and I seem to have an issue with encryption and compatibility.I have.My Works PC - Dell Dimension 1100 Windows XP Pro My Works Laptop - Compaq Presario Windows XP Pro My Rig - Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit My Tablet PC - Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit My Partners Laptop - Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit My iPhone 4 My Rooter - D-Link DSL-2640R With the default settings in the rooter (Mixed WPA, WPA2) My iPhone, Works PC and Works Laptop connects to the wireless network no problem, it appears they are using WPA mode whilst connected. However my Windows 7 machines are all seeing the network as WPA2. When I attempt to connect to the network it fails on all Windows 7 Machines.I can only seem to connect the Windows 7 machines if I change from "Mixed WPA, WPA2" to "WPA2 Only" which then knocks out all the Windows XP machines However if I disable wireless encryption, which I don't particularly want to do. All the machines work correctly with no problems!I do have a function for "Guest Network" which broadcasts a 2nd separate SSID, but you cant use encryption on it. That could run the Windows 7 Machines but the problem is I don't know how secure it is.
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110, Intel core 3 processor, and Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit os. I have recently reinstalled windows 7 from the windows 8 os. I can't access my wireless internet, I can only get to the internet via hard wire. I have searched Dell and Intel for the network controller driver and the sm bus controller driver, but to no avail.
Am using dell inspiron laptop with windows 7 home premium 64 bit , i have a free wifi in our collage when i give connect it was getting connected but there is no internet access i had tried with trouble shoot it was giving problem regarding DNS
A few days ago the public wireless internet i used worked fine and i had no problems with my computer. Now when i try to connect to it, it isn't allowing me access. It works just fine on my sisters laptop that is the same model and brand as mine.
my mom's laptop is giving her trouble. she has no internet through the wifi. i plugged it up straight to the wifi router through an ethernet cable and internet came right up. however if i try to log in wirelessly it says there are no networks when there are. what do i need to do to hook up to the internet wirelessly for her.
I have dell laptop -wireless connection; windows 7 os; vostro; my kids used computer last night; i wake up this morning- cant connect to internet; i have tried everything; i must have done about 5 system restores using different dates - no luck; tried safe mode.
So my University has incredible internet speed. (1.5mb/s) BUT when I use the wireless on my windows 7 pc it is very slow. On all other computers such as macs it runs very smoothly.
I have a problem my HP Pavilion dv5-2035dx it can't seem to connect to any networks anymore. It was working fine two nights ago, and now it can't connect. It can locate the networks, but every time I try to connect to one it will give me a cannot connect to network. Troubleshooting does nothing as well.
I built a new computer last August. Everything worked except my wireless. Move on to today, and still, the only issue I've ever had is with my wireless. Cabled internet works fine. Wireless does not. I've even upgraded my motherboard in this timeframe too.
Current specs are:
Mobo: Asus Crosshair IV Formula GPU: HD 5870 CPU: Phenom II X6 1055T RAM: 4GB of Ripjaw somethingblah
I've tried one internal N network card, and 2-3 sticks. The current one I'm trying is a TP-Link TL-WN81N 300Mpbs N Network adapter. I've used two different routers. My PS3 & iPhone connect fine. My Xbox 360 and PSP both struggle, sometimes connecting but usually not.Wireless on this computer, the issue, connects to the network fine. But it won't enable a internet connection, I never get wireless internet. Every now and then it'll work fine like nothing is wrong and other times it'll be super slow but literally 99.5% of the time it will be connected but with no internet.
