Advanced Wireless Network Windows XP Connects But Windows 7 Won't?

My D-Link rooter is driving me nuts! Basically I have many computers in my home and I seem to have an issue with encryption and compatibility.I have.My Works PC - Dell Dimension 1100 Windows XP Pro My Works Laptop - Compaq Presario Windows XP Pro My Rig - Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit My Tablet PC - Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit My Partners Laptop - Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit My iPhone 4 My Rooter - D-Link DSL-2640R With the default settings in the rooter (Mixed WPA, WPA2) My iPhone, Works PC and Works Laptop connects to the wireless network no problem, it appears they are using WPA mode whilst connected. However my Windows 7 machines are all seeing the network as WPA2. When I attempt to connect to the network it fails on all Windows 7 Machines.I can only seem to connect the Windows 7 machines if I change from "Mixed WPA, WPA2" to "WPA2 Only" which then knocks out all the Windows XP machines However if I disable wireless encryption, which I don't particularly want to do. All the machines work correctly with no problems!I do have a function for "Guest Network" which broadcasts a 2nd separate SSID, but you cant use encryption on it. That could run the Windows 7 Machines but the problem is I don't know how secure it is.

On 2 different laptops, one running professional, the other running Home Media, the computer tries to connect to my home network twice. The most frequent example is when I try to connect wirelessly, in network connections I will see my network named two time. "Connected to Network, Network1" When this happens I can not connect to the internet. I AM connected to the network and can see other PC's in the network. If I disable the device and re-enable it, this usually solves the issue.

My laptop does not connect to the internet on the wireless networks in my flat. It will connect to the network, but will not have internet access. There are several unsecured wireless networks available run by the flat and I can't connect to the internet on any of them, whereas other members of the flats and my flatmates are able to. This suggests there is not a problem as such with the router, turning it off and on again has already been attempted. When I moved in, the man in charge of maintaining/organising etc the flats took my MAC address and allowed my laptop access. Yet I cannot connect to the internet. I went to my uni's library and connected to the internet no problem. I have tried turning off my internet security, looking at the properties of the wireless connection and attempting to edit settings (changing them back again afterwards), and nothing seems to be working.

I have a Dell XPS 8300 (running Windows 7 Home Premium) that has lost Internet access. It was fine until yesterday. It shows that it's connected to my home wireless network, but cannot acces the Internet. All our other computers (desktops, laptops & iPad - all running different OS) are able to connect.
I checked the network card, using the Windows Device Manager, and it shows that it is "working properly" and that there are no conflicting devices. What should I do next?

I gave my computer to my brother for a day and when I got it back windows 7 stopped connecting to wireless .I unninstalled "steam" for counter strike that he installed but that didn't fix it.I have an XP installed on the same computer and it connects just fine . Also my smartphone , 2 laptops and an XP computer connect just fine so it's NOT a router problem .Most of the times it connects and says "no internet" .Sometimes it says I have internet but when I open chrome or other browser no page opens . But I can open the router page and I don't see my computer in the DHCP list.I believe is either something my brother installed , either a virus he got but I don't know how to troubleshoot

I bought a Windows 7 machine today. I went home and plugged the ethernet jack into the computer - it finds the connection, but won't connect to the internet. The wireless works fine. The wired works on my old vista machine. I went over the a friend's place - same deal, and their new Windows 7 machine doesn't work in the wired connection either. We are both Shaw cable subscribers in Western Canada.
I have tried restarting, disabling/re-enabling the drivers, updating the connection drivers. I can't think of anything else - suggestions?

A coworkers mother recently came to me with her son's (coworkers brother) laptop saying it wont connect to the internet. She said it started happening when he installed drivers for his printer. He uses a Virgin Mobile 3g broadband usb adapter for internet, and for the life of me I can't figure out whats wrong. It connects (and gets to the virgin mobile account website) but any other website doesn't go through. Both wireless card and 3g card do this.

I have an HP laptop and out of the blue, it will just not connect to the internet wirelessly. It will say connected but no internet access. This happens and random times, at least once a week, and for exactly 24 hours between 1 a.m. one day to 1 a.m. the next day. I can connect via ethernet cable just fine. My phone and TV can connect wirelessly, but not my internet.I have tried resetting my router/modem multiple times when this has happened to no avail. I have factory restored my computer. I have deleted my driver and reinstalled it. Literally the only thing that has worked thus far is connecting to an ethernet cable. I called my ISP and they said my router is fine and nothing is wrong with it.Before you ask, NO, I don't have any monitoring software or any software that prevents the use of internet after a certain time. Keep in mind that my computer is totally factory resetored, totally clean, nothing on it but what it came with.

I've set up the client to connect to the PPTP VPN at my workplace. It connects, but I can't access any computers on the network through explorer or remote desktop, by IP address or by name. Also, the internet will not connect after connecting to the VPN [we have a proxy, and the browser won't connect to it].
On the VPN status, the IPv4 Connectivity is listed as Internet
the IPv6 is listed as No Network Access.
I can, in a command prompt, ping network computers by name or IP. ipconfig /all gives, from what I can see, identical results to a Vista computer that connects properly.
This occurs from my house [set up as a Home network] and from public networks. The VPN is set up as a Work network. I've tried changing these and it doesn't seem to help. I've also tried disabling Windows firewall.

Tonight I installed Windows 7 Service Pack 1. After the installation I see there's a cross over my network connection. But it keeps trying to connect. It's like you plug in cable, disconnect cable, every 5 seconds or so. But it never manages to fully connect. It gets to the state "identifying" then cross comes back.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit on an ASUS laptop with a Realtek PCIe Gigabit Ethernet LAN. Every time I restart my computer the LAN connects to "linksys10" (the router it I want it to connect to) AND "Unidentified network". Both connections say Internet access, however I cannot get on-line until I go to the adapter settings>disable the LAN>then enable it again, then it connects only to the "linksys10" network and the Internet works fine.
The router I am connecting to is a Linksys WRT54GS (security disabled, SSID hidden). I have tried power cycling the router too.
It's very annoying to have to disable and enable the LAN device upon every startup. I tried uninstalling the device, then rebooting and have windows install the driver again for me. This did not work.
Then I downloaded the updated driver for windows 7 from the Realtek website, installed it, reboot my system, but I still have the same problem. I have no idea why it's connecting to two networks on startup.

Regular Internet connections are working just fine. I can get to Internet download and upload.
Problem is that I use Tortoise SVN in my work and that gives me a network error on WINDOWS 7 Professional.
NOTE! I have another computer here too, in the same network and everything works fine withit.
I troubleshooted with this Internet Connection Evaluation tool. The UPnP Support Test failed.

I was installing a software on my other laptop (it had SQL software with it) and I ran into some trouble as I got error problems that the installation of the software had failed and now whatever I do, I can't access the web! Sure enough, my wireless connection connects successfully and it indicates that I am on the "Internet" but every time I try to use either firefox or internet explorer to go to a web site, it says I don't have a connection.

I recently assembled a new desktop PC, and everything is ready to use apart from the wireless Internet connection. In the taskbar, I see an icon of a laptop (?) with an X mark on it, and it says "No connections are available". I want to make a wireless connection, what should I do in order to access to the Internet wirelessly? Are there more to buy?

I have a new Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 7 Business and went to connect to my wireless home network on a Linksys router and Win 7 detects other networks in the area, but my network SSID is not listed. I reset the router thinking that maybe the issue, but I havd another laptop and desktop and both are working fine with the network and router on the web.I then realized that Win 7 had in the available wireless listings a "unknown" network, when I select that network to connnect it ask for an SSID, It type in my SSID and it then connects to the internet.
BUt when I turnoff or reboot the laptop it will not automatically reconnect at start up. I have selected in the preferred wireless networks to connect automatically, but because it keeps seeing an unknown wireless network, I have to manually reconnect and re-type in my SSID.Does anyone know why Win7 keeps seeing my Linksys as an unknown network and how to make it reconnect automatically at startup.

I have a 3 PC router based workgroup network. 2 PCs are XP SP 3, one PC is Windows 7 When all PCs are wired, everything works just fine. All PCs (W7 and XP) can see and share files with all other PCs (It took a bit of doing but I got there eventually)If I try to connect the W7 PC wirelessly,
* the W7 PC cannot access/share files on the XP machines
* the XP machines can see and share files on the W7 PC
* The W7 PC can access the router and can ping the other PCs
There is no firewall in operation on the XP machine What do I need to do to get the W7 machine to access/share files on the XP machine via wireless connection?

I'm having a connection issue with my new computer running Windows 7 Professional x64. When I first set it up, the wireless connection worked flawlessly, and then the next day the internet cut out and has not connected since (currently 2 days). Note that I can still connect to the Network, it is just the internet connection that is the issue. Other computers and devices can still connect to the network and internet, and as a temp fix I am using a wired connection to the same router.
My router is a Dynalink RTA1025W Rev2 using WPA2-Personal security, and my computer has a 802.11n Wireless LAN Card.
Release / Renew the IPFlushing the DNSCreating a static IP addressUpdating the wireless driverUninstalling / re-installing the network card / driverResetting the modem/routerResetting the computerDisabling the firewallChanging the security type (tried WEP and none)System restoring the computerWiping the computer back to it's original state I've probably tried a couple more things that have now slipped to the back of my mind in the many hours of frustration which I have encountered. None of the above have worked, even temporarily.
I have also attempted to connect to a neighbor's unsecured wireless network, however I was also unsuccessful with that.

Just reinstalled my windows 7 home premium after having some issues and thus far everything is working swell, except for the fact that I can't seem to find any wireless connections under connections available- I can't even seem to set up wireless connections.
I know nothing is wrong inside the computer since my splash top allows me to go onto the internet wirelessly- so I'm guessing this has something to do with me just installing windows 7 home premium again.
Without the internet I can't download drivers or get windows updates-
Looked in device manager and there are three exclamations next to these drivers:
standard VGA Graphics Adapter
Network Controller
Unknown device
Can't seem to fix the exclamations since I can't get internet access (only have wireless net) Is there anything I can download and burn to get these drivers working?

I have a Macbook Pro that I just loaded a clean install of Windows 7 home 64 bit using bootcamp. I also have a canon printer. I loaded the printer's software in Windows, using a USB cable connected directly to the computer. The printer prints fine. But normally I have the printer connected to an Apple Airport Express wireless network, which prints fine from the Mac side of the computer. Windows see's the Airport Express wireless network and it connects to it fine. But when in Windows and I try to print a document, it can't see the printer. The printer says it is offline. How do I make Windows locate the printer?

I have a relatively new laptop, Windows 7 64 bit. I work from home and my laptop automatically connects to my wireless network fine. However, when I try and change the network I'm connecting to, everything crashes, in fact the network centre and options don't even load. It's weird, even if I place my mouse cursor over the wireless signal icon in the bottom right taskbar, the computer freezes! That's without me clicking anything... I can't go and visit clients now cos I cant connect to any wireless network. I'm sure my laptop used to be fine with this so I don't know what's wrong or how to find out.

I have been messing with my daughter's computer (Sony Vaio VGN-CS320J with Windows 7 professional) for days now and cannot connect to the wireless network that our other two laptops running Vista work fine on. This all started when my router went wonky and I had to go buy another power adapter for it. For some reason (I realize this is illogical.) I've been unable to get her back to our wireless network since then. Things I've tried:
1. Unplugged, reset both router and modem probably 50 times.
2. Connected her laptop directly to the router and confirmed the router settings that way.
3. Uninstalled wireless adapter (Intel Wi-Fi link 5100 AGN) and let startup re-install (numerous times)
4. Downloaded and installed latest drivers for said adapter
5. Copied my network settings from working laptop to the one that won't connect.
6. Deleted the network and recreated it (numerous times)
7. Tried to ping router unsuccessfully. (general failure)
8. System restore to a few different dates when said laptop WAS connecting.
9. Reset all the router settings via 192.168.1.1 (New name, SSID, key, etc.)Then created new network on non-connecting laptop with new settings.
I can see the wireless network, that's not the issue. However, I can't connect to it. I ran ipconfig/all and the adapter is listed as "media not connected". I'm using WPA2-personal for security if that matters. The only other think I can think of that it may be would be her antivirus software causing an issue. But then again, she had the same software installed and running a week ago and it wasn't an issue.
