May 9, 2012I have dell Vostro 3450. when i reformatted the disk and installed the Windows 7,wireless adaptor was not detected and also one of the USB port was not enabled.

Windows 7 Reinstallation Lost Wireless Effectiveness.
Dec 24, 2012Reinstalled windows from Home Premium 32-bit to Ultimate 64-bit.All was okay, except the fact that I could not connect to my home wifi. It asked me for a password, I typed it in, then it asked me for it again, but this time it inmediatly said that it was invalid. Other responses ive had are Network security mismatch, windows cannot connect to the network. I have tried many different things, such as installiing the 32-bit version of Ultimate, updating drivers, and i cant connect to the wirelles.

Mar 19, 2012iv just bought a new Wireless adaptor for my PC and iv installed the drivers and it shows its working but it isnt showing any connections so i carnt connect to my router i used to Hard wire my PC but i had to move my PC so I cant anymore.

Belkin Or Retail Plus+ Wireless N USB Adaptor
Oct 24, 2009Trying to install a Belkin Wireless or Retail Plus+ N USB Adapter, which the microsoft page says is compatible with Windows 7 (for the Belkin) and receiving an error basically saying the driver is not compatible with this operating system.
This is a brand new computer that came with Windows 7 installed and has 0 internet access right now....what can you suggest?
Also, I do have a wired internet access point in my house I can move it to, if there is something I need to download I can probably do this.
It's been hours, and I feel like I may have to take the whole thing back.
I would prefer to use the Retail Plus+ USB adapter for this system if given the choice, since the Belkin is in use on another computer in the house, but I'll take whatever is out there.

Normally, when the ethernet cable is not connected it would show the available wireless networks (like any other laptop).But now it does not detect any wireless networks including my home network and I am sitting right beside the router.I tried pressing Fn+F8(buttons to enable or disable the wifi) but that function isnt working anymore.

And an atheros AR5B95 wireless network adaptor.Two weeks ago I discovered rootkit 0access on my computer, and after much hassle, performed a factory restore to fix the situation. Since then my computer has been mostly unable to detect wireless connections. I say mostly because upon occassion it will see my wifi connection, but be unable to connect to it, and it will soon drop seeing the connection moments after anyway. To date, I haven't needed to ask questions directly; unfortunately, this latest one has stumped me. I have done my best to peruse the forum for previous topics of this nature and have found nothing. I realize it's a pain to answer the same thing twice so please feel free to redirect me if you found something I didn't.Unlike most problems for which I've sought help on BC, this one is personal. I'm trying to reinstall Windows 7 on my laptop but I'm running into some problems. First, I've run MEMTEST and HDD checks and everything checks out. Second, the full OS installation history was (OEM) 32-bit Vista, 32-bit Windows 7, and 64-bit Windows 7 (currently, or more appropriately formerly as I've already reformatted the hard drive).
I'd like to install Windows x86 on this machine as I've recently purchased a new performance laptop on which I have x64 Win7 installed. Before you protest, the laptop I'm asking about only has 2 GB RAM so there's no point in having x64 installed (and in fact it causes a lot of compatibility problems for legacy programs; yes, I installed Virtual Machine w/ XP but the graphics card doesn't carry over so I can't run the programs I need). Unfortunately, every time I try to boot to the DVD with Win7 x86 on it, it loads the files, shows the "Starting Windows..." splash screen, and then BSODs. The error? "c000021a"I've put a x64 Win7 disc in and it doesn't have this error at all. Any idea what might be causing this? I'm emarrassed to ask since I should know these things as a tech but I'm at my wits end here. Google hasn't been kind to me and I'm about ready to give up

Jun 5, 2012I downloaded windows 8 consumure preview and I wanted to reinstall windows 7 so I get my windows 7 disk and hit reinstall. When it was about 70% done and it freezes then it crashes I turn it back on and a loop hole appears and it saids this message "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart installation". I hit ok. It restarts and the same message pops up.

Jun 30, 2011I've just installed a wireless PCI adaptor (Tenda W322P 11N) in my desktop PC but I can't 'enable' it - every time I double click it starts to enable then stops and leaves it disabled with no warning or error messages.
The system is definitely seeing it as it's listed in Device Manager, and if I bring up Network Connections (using ncpa.cpl) it's listed and shown as disabled. Why would windows stop it from being enabled??
I've tried downloading new drivers from the manufacturers site in case the drivers on the disk were old - no difference. I uninstalled it and removed the drivers and then re-booted so windows would use it's own drivers - no difference.

The type of machines I am looking at like a HP Pavilion dm1 or a Lenovo Thinkpad X100/ 120 (new) running windows 7 of course. They do not come up a optical drive.So my question is what happens in the case of a HD failure?With the X300 I have reloaded windows on to the new HD using the CD drive and recovery disks provided.But in 2011 what is the way of being prepared for a HD failure with machines that have no optical drive and no windows 7 supplied reinstallation cds/dvds?Is there way of doing it thru a USB flask drive? is that the answer?
