I am using Vista and the computer just restarted for no reason. The problem though the computer will not start. I am at a black screen with the message that the file windowssystem32winload.exe is missing or corrupt. The error code is 0xc000000f. I don't know what to do. The computer is asking for the startup disc. I did not receive one when I purchased my computer. I am lost as to what to do.

View 2 Replies View Related i have windows 7 Starter and bought the disk to upgarde it to windows professional, so i put dvd into dvd-unit... duh and after loading two white bars for secondary boot device it displays the hell message "winload is missing or corrupt..." i have already tried EVERYTHING on the forums and on the web including all the bootrec processes, rebuilt bcd, get a new copy of winload switching carpets, and modding BCD file to specify diferent routes for windows to search the file.. and yet nothing...I personally think the problem is that my C: drive it's partitioned in 3 one called system backup (wich is the standar recovery console for vaio, another partition of around 10 gb named System reserved and the free space where windows is located.

My Acer laptop is suddenly having this issue and will not boot into windows in any mode including safe mode. I tried using a recovery disc with no luck. I can get to the command prompt from the recovery disc and I tried fixboot and fixmbr with no results.

I ran malaware bytes and got rid of them all. I thought that would be the end of it. She wanted Itunes and it would never install and the error message for it was related to windows updates. She purchased the computer last may and I was looking at the updates and all of the updates have failed since then, first being service pack 1. It wouldn't automatically do it, so I downloaded the standalone file and it would tell me it was unsuccessful and to restart the computer and try again. I downloaded the readiness tool, ran it, didn't work, ran it in aggressive mode, that didn't work. So I gave up and was going to reset it back to factory. The F8 command for the advanced boot methods does have "repair your computer" option but I click it and it just starts windows normally. Over and over. I made a repair disc through the windows options, and dell data safe, and when I boot from them I get the winload.exe file is missing or corrupt status: 0xc000000d and when I use dell data safe program to restore back to factory, it restarts and gives me the same thing. I have googled all day and searched forums for hours and I am getting nowhere. Resetting it to factory was going to be the easy way for me, and now I just want to throw the thing out the window.

When I turned it back on its said winload.exe was missing or corrupt. With the status of 0xc000000f. It wont let me do anything with the computer. Only go into memory tool diagnostics and the setup utility. It says to install the windows 7 install disks. I dont have that I only have the recovery disks.

Almost all larger RAR (more than 3GB) will have this problem. So far smaller RAR I have no issue. I have tried extracting the same under different PC (OS Win XP) but without any issue. Which I believe not the RAR files been corrupted by itself. The corrupt files seems to be random.. Sometimes, I manage successful extraction, but sometimes I don't. I have the same problems even after clean installation. I have run memtest without any error. I am using 6gb ram

First time it occurred was when i was trying to install borderlands 2. I manage to install the games, but this error keeps popping up along the way, and the game simply doesnt stop loading when a loading screen comes up.
I have a PC with windows vista installed. I recently bought windows 7 home premium and installed a fresh copy of it. Every time I download some software like Chrome, VLC, iTunes , it downloads fine, but when it has to install it gives strange errors. I have seen all kinds of errors.
E.g.: VLC gives NSIS error.
Microsoft Security Essentials gives "File Corrupt Error".
Got certificate invalid error for some other software. if I download zip files, they fail with CRC check.
Just to be sure it wasn't hardware issue, I installed vista as a second OS and that works fine. I am really uncertain what is causing the issue (seems network related though). I had an old router and just purchased a new linksys router. Other configurations are: Core 2 Quad, EVGA SLI ready motherboard, 4GB DDR2 ram, ASUS EN210 gphx card.
When ever I try to change the boot screen I can't locate the file winload.exe.mui. I used to have it and I used to be able to change the boot screen

It boots just fine and also gets the same error installing straight from the hard drive.

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday I came home from work to a black screen that said "Error Loading OS". Not sure how this happened, so I restarted it and it came right back to that. Spent a few minutes digging around and found out that my hard drive was not set in the BIOS as a boot drive (although no idea how that changed), so I switched it back and the computer booted fine.Today, I come home from work and again, I see the black screen that says "Error Loading OS". I restarted, went in the BIOS, and saw that of 4 hard drives in the system, only 1 (non boot) showed up. This is weird. I shut down for a few minutes, booted it back up to the BIOS, and my primary hard drive was listed again. Selected that, and Windows booted up fine.
Was using the computer for about an hour when everything just froze. The mouse still worked and moved, but nothing else at all was working. So I restarted again, and I got to a "Windows failed to start" / 0xc000000f error. Off to the BIOS again, where again, only 2 or 3 of my 4 hard drives were listed. I shut down, left it for a few minutes, rebooted back, and selected my primary drive again. Then I went ahead and created an image of my primary drive just in case.I have no idea wh thought it might be a hard drive failure, or it could be something messed up in my motherboard. I have a 64GB Crucial M4 SSD drive that is less than a year old, along with an ASRock Z68 PRO3 motherboard that was bought at the same time.

The thing is, I don't have a Windows installation disc! I was just browsing the internet when my laptop crashed, and now I can't do anything; repair your computer, safe mode, boot from last known good setting, etc. all result in the same error screen.
so i have my mums laptop which is a toshiba portege one of the old student laptops. it started getting the BSOD and then not being able to restart with it just keep going around in circles trying to boot saying that winload.exe is missing or corrupt with the error code 0xc0000001
it all requires you to be able to log into windows or safemode first. i have tried 2 seperate windows 7 discs that are proven to be good and an ubuntu disc and an xp and a repair disk. the windows 7 discs go to the "windows is loading files" and then to that error done it around 30 times. the xp and repair discs just stay on the blank screen with a flashing underscore and nothing will happen. the ubuntu disc can start up in a live session but when you try and install it it freezes at 5% and will never get passed it.
i put the hdd into another pc and done the command prompt partitioning and clearing as well as using gparted and went through all the discs again and all happened the same so i just went out and bought another hdd thinking that will fix it.
the new hdd makes no difference and i get the exact same results with the discs. i can get into the bios but i cannot get any further with anything, is there hope or is the pc messed up?

The first start of 7 goes well and I can see the desktop without any problem. Then I restart my pc to change the boot priority and set the hard disk as default. Then I restart again and I see the vista boot manager that ask me to select the os to start. When I select 7 I get an error that say:

I try to repair the windows starup with the wizard on 7's dvd but it doesn't work. I unistall, reburn, reinstall 7 but the result was the same.
If I open (when I running vista) the property of winload in 7's directory I see that the digital signature of the item doesn't match.
Everytime I turn on my computer and it asks me to select what windows to load (vista, 7 (I Don't have dual boot set up though??) and I do Windows 7, it does not Boot and gives me the winload.exe error message in my title. 1 x 160GB (SATA)
- Partition: ~149GB - Win Vista64
1 x 300GB (SATA)
- Partition: ~220GB - MISC
- Partition: ~58.5GB - Windows 7 64
1x 1TB (SATA)
- Partition: ~931GB - Games
I ended up taking my 300GB drive, created a logical partition, then booted into the Windows 7 dvd I have. (win 7 - 7100?, straight off ms)
Firstly, it takes about a couple minutes just to load the files. Then once it finally gets to the splash* screen and the cursor appears.....it takes about 5-10minutes for the "install" window to appear which seems VERY odd since my machine is VERY fast. It takes quite a bit of time to accomplish installing from loading to finished (40minutes maybe)...
After everything installs when I go to choose the Windows 7 option on the boot menu, I get this black SOD

Something about the file being missing or corrupt.
I took my Windows 7 disk, and entered command prompt through recovery tools (which takes at least 5 minutes due to loading time to get to each time).
I ran DISKPART, then did LIST VOL, so it would tell me the partitions and letters.
Then I took another window, and entered bcdedit. The letters matched up with the partition letters and the file DOES exist.
I've tried 3 different sources on 3 different DVD's to see if perhaps I had a bad image (1 x microsoft/2 x torrent), but that's not the case.
I've tried setting the path's again through bcdedit to make sure there was no data corruption in the settings, and that was not successful either...
So when I need to figure is out why it tells me the file "winloader.exe" is missing or corrupt, when in fact it is pointing to the right harddrive, on the right partition, on the right location.
Yes, they all show up on the BIOS post, yes it recognizes the 300GB drive in the setup without extra drivers. The only hdd it needs extra drivers for to see is my 1TB, but I'm not using that for the Windows 7 installation.
I'm trying to restore my Windows 7 64bit machine to its factory settings at the moment, and I've tried the following but they've all failed.1.) Boot up and hit F8, select Repair computer, but then it just boots Windows normally.2.) that upon trying to open it, I receive a message that the file is corrupt.I have looked high and low trying to find a way to DELETE this file, but to no avail. There's lot of references about running CHKDSK to check the drive, running FSUTIL to query the dirty bit (which is set on this drive, because of this file), and using CHKDSK to clear the dirty-bit. And, I tried them all. This, however, is NOT a hard drive issue. The drive is fine. It's the file structure that is in error. I just need a solution that will let me DELETE the file. I don't want recover it.
1. Use Paragon-Software Hard Disk Manager 12 to copy the hard drive to another drive. The second drive is large enough to hold all the data from the larger drive.
2. Check the file on the drive copy... (yep, it's there... yep, it's corrupt... yep, the dirty-bit is on)
3. Create a filter in Paragon-Software HDM12 for that specific file.
4. Run the disk copy again using the filter.
5. Check the file on the drive copy... (this time the file is not there and the dirty bit is not set)
Having done this, I think I'm ready to copy the hard drive back. I just haven't pulled the trigger. I want to recable the drives to use the copy just to make sure I can reach everything. Then, I'll pull the trigger.
I have a brand new computer running Windows Home Premium 7, 64 bit. My mouse will not behave. As an example, when I left click nothing happens and I must right click and then select 'open' or 'open link' from a pull down menu. I think something must be corrupted but I don't know how to fix it.

I installed cuipid a program that monitors,memory,CPU,etc. on Win 7. I used the PC aftyer that for a couple of hours.I shut doem,the next day I booted up went in to Windows 7(set as Default). It was fine.I resarted and arrowed to Vista to boot into Vista.
I got a Black sctreen saying: Windows failed to start. Hardware or software change may be the problem. I went into 7 and restored the system back to before I installed Cuipid,No Luck.
