View 1 RepliesThis is just a question as I am not too computer minded - running Windows 7 for last year and now I have a small problem. There is this Find bar that comes up and interrupts me when I am typing or even when I am trying to fill in forms online. How to get rid of it have tried so many antivirus scans and it is not picking anything up!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had installed a fresh windows 7 on my machine and did all the updates. But i had noticed that my video cards were not working together any more, so i went to the ATI CCC to find crossfireX to inable it, only to find that it was no longer on the list of opitions. I have went to the task tray and right click on the CCC icon and scrolled the two video cards to see if crossfireX was there and it wasn`t i have look through the net and checked on the differnt forums to find myself back to square one.
View 6 Replies View Relatedafter a recent Windows 7 update all of a sudden my notebook cannot find my scanner. it prints fine thru same machine, but will not recognize scan function - says WAI driver missing. I never deleted any drivers. I have fixed it with a system restore, but it coninually updates and sys rest is extreme remedy that causes other problems.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently formatted my Dell Inspiron Duo netbook, with Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. I installed all of the software which I run on it without any problems. When I try to update Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus (32bit) Windows Update only finds a few updates, and after they're installed it doesn't find anymore updates. It doesn't even find Office 2010 SP1.{Note: I had no problems with other updates like Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 or other Microsoft updates.I tried uninstalling Office 2010 and installing it again but nothing changed. The privacy settings which show up the first time you run an Office application I set it as "Recommended settings".I also tried downloading Office 2010 SP1 (32bit) and when I tried to run it an error came up saying something like version mismatch (I presume that you need to install other updates before running the setup & I also tried to download an other update but the same error came up.)

I've quite some Windows machines in my home network running XP Professional, Win7 Professional, Premium and Starter. Since about two weeks, EVERY system is complaining occasionally about local profiles that cannot be found after switching user (or on Starter, logging off and logging on to another user). The exact message is 'Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile'. Only by rebooting I'm able to get into my original profile.
Since I have seen this multiple times on XP, Win7 Starter and Win7 Professional, and only since about two weeks, this rather points to some 'fix' that I received with Windows Update. At least I can not imagine another reason.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm out of ideas. I've been running Win 7 on this machine for more than a year without issues in updating etc. Now it will not search or update/install critical items. I'm running Symantec (even tried turning the firewall off without any success). I get an error code 80072F7C. When I run hijackthis, I get an error message that my system denied write access to the Hosts file. I proceed with the scan but am unable to produce a log file. I've included a screenshot from the windows update error as well as the error I get when trying to run hijack this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe update is called:
nvidia - Graphics adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Other hardware - NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M.
After installing it, whenever my laptop tries to use the Nvidia card, I get a blue screen and the system restarts. I looked in installed updates to uninstall it, and it is not there. I did a system restore to four days before I installed it, and I still get the same effect. Lastly, I installed some older nvidia drivers that used to work using the clean install option, and I still have this problem.
A while back, after successfully downloading and installing some updates in the Windows Update, it prompted me to restart the computer to finish the update installation process. However, I continued to use the computer for quite some time before restarting it, and then when it tried to configure the updates on the start-up screen, it showed that it was not successful in doing so. In the past, I noticed that this would typically happen when I did not restart the computer immediately (or within a short time) after the updates finished and I got the prompt to restart. I would have to go to Windows Update and do it over again, and then upon immediate restart, it would always work properly. But this time, it did not, and I keep getting the 8000FFFF error message instead.
Also, now, every time I start the computer, it shows that it's "Preparing to configure Windows... Do not shut off computer" (presumably the updates that never got completely and correctly configured) in the start-up screen... gets to 35%..fails... shuts down (screen goes black)... restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, shuts down and restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, and finally it apparently gives up and says "reverting changes" and finally goes to the desktop.I've looked at the answers in several threads at the answers.microsoft.com forum that were started by people with similar problems, and also tried several of the Microsoft "FixIt" files on the Microsoft site, but none of them worked. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.

Is there a way I can check to see if this is downloading and can I even do a fresh install via online downloading?

When I start my computer up software is meant to start up a NAS drive that is on the network. This works fine but this software only starts the NAS drive after the computer is started and Windows 7 places it has offline. When the drive finishes startup should it not also display in Windows 7 that it is now online? This is what happened on my previous XP OS and it also works with another 2 machines that I have attached to the network which are XP and Windows Vista. how do you get Windows 7 to automatically check to see if the NAS drive is online or offline?
