View 2 Replies View RelatedMy laptop was purchased in 2010 and has Windows 7 Professional on it. I never had a problem until about 2 months ago when restored to factory settings, which doesn't require a Windows disc. About a month later I started getting messages all over about how Windows might not be genuine and I needed to activate it. The only option it gave me was to activate online, which when I did that I got an error.
So I reformatted AGAIN, hoping I wouldn't have the problem. Now it tells me I have 2 days until automatic activation, which I'm guessing isn't going to work because it didn't last time. When I click 'Activate Window Now', I get an error: 0x8007007B... Now right under that there is a product ID and I'm not sure if that's what I need to enter, or where to enter it.
I went to Microsoft's website and had it run its test to see if it says Windows is genuine, and it is, but I'm worried that I'm gonna run into the same problem as last time if I don't get this activated. I'd much rather figure out a way to do it online than over the phone.
I just replaced a hard drive on a Win7 machine, cloning the old drive to the new one, and it boots up fine, but tells me that Windows is no longer activated. I go through the process, but each time it tells me that the KMS server is unavailable. This machine was never in a "corporate" environment, so I don't know why it's doing this.
Is there a way (preferrably without reinstalling Windows!) that I can "force" the KMS stuff to go away, and activate directly with Microsoft?
i bought a laptop that had windows 7 original but about 4 days before , my windows had been not activate and don't let me install any program when i check status in system properties , in windows activation is written "not available". i don't want to crack it because is original.

This copy of Windows is not genuine. So can I activate it now? I dont have Win disc, cuz I got it installed on my PC, and I dont have disc.
I bought Windows 7 Upgrade when it came out, and upgraded an XP laptop. Worked fine. The disk got corrupted, though, and I had to do a complete, clean install on a re-formatted harddrive. So my Windows 7 upgrade doesn't think it's an upgrade. I tried to do the online activation -- didn't work. I tried to do a phone activation -- didn't work. Talked to MS customer service. They said I have to install/activate Xp or something first, then re-install Windows 7 upgrade. The problem is that this laptop didn't come with any disks, and I don't have any way to do that. So they said to "borrow" a copy of XP/Vista from someone, install that, then re-install Windows 7 upgrade. I just spent two full days installing Windows 7, updates, programs, data, etc. I sure hate to have to start all over again. Is there any other way to make this work?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop (currently running Win 7 x64) and a laptop (currently running Ubuntu) but I'm having loads of problems with the 64bit version of windows on my desktop and I want to switch so Ubuntu is installed on the desktop and Windows 7 (32 bit) on my laptop.
I would only be using Windows on 1 PC but obviously it's already been activated on my desktop so would I have any problems activating it on my laptop? Is there a way to "deactivate" my desktop so I can activate it on the laptop or am I going to have to call Microsoft and hope they'll allow me to do this?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Gateway FX6801-05 which originally had Wiindows Vista installed. I purchased a complete Windows 7 ultimate (not upgrade, not OEM) from eBay. I wiped the disk then installed and verified it without a hitch. Automatic updates has been working fine.Yesterday I changed some things around on my motherboard. When I booted Windows 7 Ultimate, which has been installed on my computer for several years now, it reported that my copy of Windows was invalid. Apparently the motherboard remembered the OEM Vista product number. I tried reauthorization both on the web and by phone using my new product key of Windows 7. The phone reauthorization doesn't even allow me to talk with a support person.Did I really buy an unauthorized Windows 7 ultimate, or is something weird going on here because VISTA OEM was originally installed on this computer?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently had a boot issue on my computer that necessitated a full reformat of the HDD and a clean reinstall of Windows. I previously had an OEM copy of Win7 Home Premium installed - however, the disc I used to reinstall was Win7 Professional borrowed from a co-worker. I now have 30 days to activate the copy of Windows, and I'm wondering what the best step to take is.
Do I have to buy a Professional key? Does anyone know how much these cost, and if I might be able to get an upgrade discount because I already own Home Premium? I know I won't be able to activate the copy of Professional using the key from my previous copy of Home Premium, but would I be able to reinstall Home Premium and activate it with the same key I used during the initial build? I'd rather not do yet another reinstall of Windows, but I will if I have to. Anything (short of piracy) to avoid having to shell out hundreds for a new key.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my PC for 2 weeks now and every time it has been unsuccessful. I turned off the sleep and hibernation functions, as well as extended the time to 2 hours for the hard drives. There are no compatibility issues at all. The PC locks up which seems to be about the 60-70%.I have tried the 62% MS and still it wont upgrade. I did a Custom install and had no problems but when I entered the CD key it came back as invalid and tried again and got an Error Code 0xC004F061 which states Only use this software for upgrade and not clean install. There is no means to input your Vista CD key to show up have a valid upgrade. The instructions for Windows XP stated you have to do a clean install and why not Vista Premium.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade from my University who had them heavily discounted. I installed it on my first computer (which was running Windows 7 Home Premium) by doing a custom install (deleted all my partions) and it activated perfectly fine.
However, at the time, I didn't know that this upgrade was only for 1 computer at a time, so about 2 days ago I upgraded my laptop (second computer) using the same method as my first computer. I booted from the upgrade disc, selected custom install, deleted all the information on my hard drive, and proceeded to install. After installing, it prompted for activation, which worked perfectly fine.
I am now typing this message on my laptop (second computer) which is has windows 7 activated. My first computer is still at my university, and I am home for spring break so I will not be able to use that for a week or so.
I literally just found out that this upgrade can only work for 1 computer at a time and I heard that Microsoft will actually blacklist my first computer so that it is not usable anymore. Is this true? I am actually freaking out.. because that computer is my primary workstation and I need windows 7 to be working on it. Should I just uninstall windows 7 from this computer and install another operation system? Or is it already too late, my first computer is already broken?
I need to activate WINS on my Windows 7 Proessional. How could I do this?I have two networks (200.x.x.x and 100.x.x.x) and need to scan, share and access the stations on both networks
My Win are into 200 network.
I was able to activate my Windows 7 Home Premium through the phone method. However recently I attempted to activate Windows 7 on another computer and after calling the automated number and reading the code, the system is unable to verify it. However I noticed something strange. Upon trying different activation keys, the 9 segment code to be read back to the automated system doesn't change. No matter what activation key I use, the code remains the same. Could this mean something, as to why I am unable to activate my copy of Windows 7?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter having installed my Windows 8 Pro Upgrade, and regret it, I installed a fresh Windows 7 Ultimate x64 from my retail dvd. When it came to activation, it wrote "unsuccesfull, please use phone activation".I then tried that, and as first I had to answer on how many PCs this key was used. I press 1, and the phone-activating was done normally.
But after a while I got to think, WHY MS had to ask me this? My retail DVD (and the key to it), has not been activated for over 2 years, so maybe another is using my key?
