Neither my windows 7 screensaver nor any other internet screensaver will work on my computer. I don't want to set my screen to shut off and see a flat black screen. How do I make those screensavers work in windows 7?
Basically, the screensaver won't work in Windows 7. My laptop is a 32bit system with 2GB of RAM so not old. I upgraded about a year ago from Vista to Windows 7. Symptoms: the screensaver doesn't work - the screen is just blank. When I try to change the screensaver in Control Panel and preview it, it won't preview even after 'Apply'. There are only 4 or so screensaver options such as Bubbles and Mystify but none seem to work. I am aware of a problem with the Bubbles screensaver via the internet but am not sure if this is a problem. I sometimes get an error box up when I awake the laptop (error OXc0000017). When I tried to install a new screensaver, it wouldn't install and I got the same error message/code. I have changed the power settings now so the display never goes off but I don't think this will change things.

I just want to know the purpose of using a screensaver in any operating system. Does it affect the performance of the hardware and system as a whole. Also tell me if it is advantageous to use a screensaver and in what way(s) and please cite its demerits(is any).
I am still kid at heart. I like eye candy. I have W7 home prem. I wish it had that Pan and Zoom Screensaver that Vista had. Is there a way to copy the Pan n Zoom from Vista and insert it into 7?
I am having a problem on recording my screensaver, whenever I use screen recording programs such as Camtasia Recorder or Snagit and open the preview or open the .scr file, it don't record the screensaver instead it record the desktop! So what should I do to make the program record my screensaver? Is there a program to convert .scr to .mp4 or .avi or any video format?
Running a video as screensaver in Windows7 Some of you may have seen my posting in the Vista forum on how to run a video as screensaver [URL]. This method does not work in Windows7. There is, however, another method for Windows7 that accomplishes the same goal. For that you have to go via Windows Live Photo Gallery. If you do not have it yet on your system, download it from Windows Live Essentials[URL]). Then do the following steps: Open Live Essentials Photo Gallery Click on File Click on > Screen Saver Settings (This will open the Screen Saver Settings) Browse to your folder with the video and open it (OK) In the Use this theme list box, select Album Then do Save Now run Preview and see whether it works Remind you that the video format must be .wmv. If you have another format, convert it with Format factory [URL]
I'm running MS Windows 7 Home Premium on a Dell laptop. Normally, the screen saver works as expected. About half the time, after I log off and shut down, the screen saver is not enabled when I restart.
my screensaver and power options are not working at all. they where working fine a few days ago and then all of the sudden they started to work intermittent and then they just stopped all together. i have a wireless mouse and ive never had any problems with it. when it first started happening i would unplug the mouse and the screen saver would kick on. but now thats not even working i have tried everything i have found on the internet and still nothing is working all the drivers are updated and nothing is running in the background so i am stumped
How do I make my screensaver stay on longer on windows 7. I can be listening to music for 5 minutes that the screen will go blank than I have to put my password in again
Each time I decide to change the theme on my Dell Inspiron laptop Windows 7 automatically turns sounds back on and changes the screen saver. It's so annoying and unnecessary. How can I prevent it from doing this when all I want to do is vary the themes? Or do I have to go through the same routine each time - that of switching off the sounds and restoring my screensaver?
I have my screen saver set at 15 minutes. I first noticed something odd this past weekend. The screen saver was on when I drifted off to the land of sweet dreams. Sometime during the night I woke up, looked across the room, and I saw my desktop. Other than thinking "why do I see my desktop" I thought nothing else about it. Since then I have actually seen the screen saver disappear and my desktop appear. I was on the other side of the room, not on the computer, the mouse did not get moved, and nothing happened that would cause this.
I've not been able to figure out why all of a sudden the desktop would appear. What I can do to keep the screen saver on until I want to go to my desktop? I noticed that after a while the screen saver would come back on and stay on a while before going back to the desktop. It's caught in a loop of going back and forth. In the grand scheme of things, this is not a biggie but I'd still like to know why this is happening.
Icons appearing on Windows7 taskbar after return from screensaver or from sleep mode (this problem appearing as per twice in a day). For example: Avast Antivirus icon and GoogleTalk icon.... If they appear, i cudn't do anything with these icons, as they are non-responsive... Cudn't close the icons.. I have to open avast/gtalk to close these icons...

Just setting up a new laptop with Windows 7 Pro. I would like to add a .scr file I created and used in my Windows XP Pro. Can I just move a copy of it into the Windows>System32 directory and then select it in the Personalization window (selecting the theme I'm using and then Screensaver)? In XP of course this was all done by right clicking on the desktop and selecting Properties. This brought up the Display Properties window where everything could be changed.
Anything to be careful of when adding to the System32 directory? Just don't want to screw anything up!
I set my screensaver for two minutes to check that it works properly. I have Windows Media Player running, and after 5 minutes, it still hasn't kicked in. Does it not work if WMP is running? I haven't touched the mouse or keyboard.
If I set my screensaver, It still shows "none" (see pic) I have had this problem on 7077 and 7100 (i think before that too) on this machine the screensaver still works but is everyone else having this issue? I also have power issues on another machine. It keeps turning the monitor on. That could be a mouse issue although I've tried two mice and it still happens. I am having all sorts of issues with themes in general but have any of you seen this?
Win 7 Home Prem SP1, 64 bit, 8 gb ram. Only using the screensavers that come with Windows, no matter which one I select at varying times it will fail. I can normally reboot and it works again for a time or switch to a new selection where it will work for 2-3 weeks again. I can't find any information on others experiencing the same issue and have been using numerous virus/spyware apps to find anything. MS Security Essentials, Avast, Stinger, Housecall, SuperAntiSpyware and only find tracking cookies.I know it would help if I could get the exact error message and will update when I do get a chance to write it down.
I've asked the screensaver to become active after 10 minutes of inactivity on the computer. For some reason this does not happen. I've tried to disconnect USB services such as wireless mouse, keyboard and joystick without any luck. The preview of the screensaver will start perfectly and moving the mouse a bit stops it, however in normal use of the computer the screensaver will not start.
my screensaver has worked in the past. at some point i noticed it was no longer working, so i messed around a bit. i think all i did was change the time to something different, and it came back to life for another day or so. it has stopped again, and all of my old tricks are no longer working. i'm pretty sure i have all the power settings correct, and i've been using the screensaver window for years, so those are correct too. I've read about wireless keyboards and mice being a problem, but both of mine are wired.
When my monitor powers down after inactivity, music starts to play. I'm assuming this is part of windows 7 themes but I cant find an option to turn it off.
