Set A Screensaver As A Wallpaper
Aug 10, 2009
While looking around i find an app that was make for windows 95 it worked on windows 7 also
What it does it that it runs your screensaver as wallpapers
link to app here
http://www.kuhj.com/down/scrpaper.htm
i have worked out if you go
task manager > processes > then close scrPaper.exe
that will close the box but leave the background running
(stop background to go processes then find (name of screensaver).scr
There is only one problem with this, it hides all your desktop icons anyone have an idea how to fix this?

I've been playing around with the OEM folder used for custom branded OEM installs. I've figured out how to set the OEM info and add custom wallpapers and screen savers to the install media. What I haven't figured out is how you actually set the default wallpaper or screen saver during the install? If someone knows where the info is stored in the registry I can probably do it with a reg file like I do the OEM info displayed on the system screen. I've been testing by installing from a USB thumb drive. Once I have everything the way I want it I'll burn a DVD of the final version.

Can anyone tell me how to display the filenames along with the photos I've included in my customized wallpaper and screensaver?
It would come in useful if I particularly liked a photo currently being displayed and wanted to locate it so that I could maybe print it out. I was able to do this with my screensaver in XP.

My computer was infected by a virus which hide all my icons and changed my wallpaper to just solid black, I got rid of the virus fixed the icon issue but i couldn't get the background back. Every time i try to put a picture as the wallpaper an error message comes up saying "this photo cannot be set as wallpaper" and when i try to change the theme the window color at the bottom is the only thing that changes.

I decided to change wallpaper (desktop), but the new one didn't look nearly as good once it was on the computer. So I decided to go back to the previous wallpaper, except it has now disappeared. I've looked everywhere, and have followed various suggestions found on internet (namely on Windows 7 Forums), but to no avail. The previous wallpaper was NOT a pre-installed Microsoft wallpaper, but an image I had directly installed some months ago.I would do a search on my laptop, but cannot remember the title of the photo.Florio

I had my wallpaper set as one that changes every 3 minutes or so. I set it up Wednesday, but yesterday when I put my 2nd monitor on to watch a movie, the wallpaper disappeared and went blank. I thought it did this just because it wouldn't work with 2 monitors enabled, but when I turned the 2nd monitor off in Nvidia control panel, the wallpaper flashed back on for a second and now it stays black. I restarted but it still stays black. Even if I try changing wallpaper in Personalize it doesn't change.

I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong thread. I'm new to this forum. So, no matter which wallpaper I choose, it gets changed to the brown wallpaper(in the architecture section) after I shut down and open the computer for a few times. I don't really know when it gets changed, but it doesn't take any longer than 2 days or so

I've been running Windows7x64 RTM for about 3 months now. For a couple of days now, whenever i reboot my system it reverts to an old wallpaper i set some time ago. I tried changing the theme & aero border color to see whether it sticks after a reboot & it does!
I checked the group policy settings for any change & didn't find any. I use up2date AV & I'm fairly certain that my system hasn't been compromised. I'm a fairly sophisticated user & find this very annoying.

I have windows 7 home premium running on my compaq (HP) presario laptop. When i select a photo for the wallpaper it stretches it out even if the photo is a potrait one, which means it cuts off heads of people and so on. I have tried going into control panel> appearance and personalisation> personalisation> desktop background> and tried to change the picture position to fit or centre or anything other then stretch but it wont change anything, the wallpaper stays the same. Anyone have any ideas? i have a feeling it may be a problem with windows or something. My dad is running windows 7 home premium on his home pc and i can change the wallpaper settings on it no problem.

i use a triple-head configuration with my center monitor specified as primary display. i have made some 3x Wide screen wallpapers, and i set them as the desktop backgrounds. it works fine with one caveat:
the images left most border starts on the center display --the image is triple wide, but the right-most third wraps around the the left display.
any ideas on how to properly center the image? i need the center display to be the primary as certain applications throw a fit when they are run on a non-primary channel.

Recently however there is a white line that is going through the wallpaper. and now add to that a red line. At first i thought it was my moniter but the lines only go through the wallpaper, they dont appear in videos, when im browsing the internet, or when in game. They are only appearing on that wallpaper. I can change the wallpaper and the lines aren't there. If i change back they are there. So i figured that my image might be corrupted so I went online and looked for the same picture again. I found it twice and both times the lines were there on the picture. Not after I downloaded it, as I found the picture online, on the webpage, before redownloading.

Just setting up a new laptop with Windows 7 Pro. I would like to add a .scr file I created and used in my Windows XP Pro. Can I just move a copy of it into the Windows>System32 directory and then select it in the Personalization window (selecting the theme I'm using and then Screensaver)? In XP of course this was all done by right clicking on the desktop and selecting Properties. This brought up the Display Properties window where everything could be changed.
Anything to be careful of when adding to the System32 directory? Just don't want to screw anything up!

I set my screensaver for two minutes to check that it works properly. I have Windows Media Player running, and after 5 minutes, it still hasn't kicked in. Does it not work if WMP is running? I haven't touched the mouse or keyboard.

If I set my screensaver, It still shows "none" (see pic) I have had this problem on 7077 and 7100 (i think before that too) on this machine the screensaver still works but is everyone else having this issue? I also have power issues on another machine. It keeps turning the monitor on. That could be a mouse issue although I've tried two mice and it still happens. I am having all sorts of issues with themes in general but have any of you seen this?

I CANNOT choose my own wallpaper. I've research what the problem and I've come up with different solutions, but none of these seems to work such as, deleting the Transcoded Wallpaper.jpg.To put it simple my wallpaper is black or a solid color and even if hit "save changes" in the personalize menu in Windows 7, it still won't change. I see the icons, everything is working fine, its just that my wallpaper can't be change and you only could change to a solid color. This issue started when a relative of mine installed iMesh into the computer, I removed it completely and since then the black solid wallpaper has been on my desktop.

I am using Windows 7 build 6956 on a laptop with t3200 2.ghz cpu and intel 4500 gma with 4gigs of ram.Now my problem is that on random cases the desktop would go black more specifically the wallpaper disappears. The taskbar is there working OK, when I click the show desktop button on the taskbar the wallpaper re-appears. When I browse the windows by hovering over the windows all seems fine but when I click on the window the wallpaper disappear again. So far it can be resolved by a simple login/logout but still annoying. The only instances I remember this happening was when I was trying out the slideshow and after playing dota (GARENA).

change the fade time of the wallpaper slideshow. I don't mean the time the OS waits before fading to a new wallpaper, I mean the actual time to transition from one wallpaper to another.
