I have the backroundchanger.exe from Brink's tutorial, but wondered - How can I setup an automatic wallpaper change each bootup? Say for example rotate through the images in my shared picture folder. The program in the tut doesn't seem to allow this - is there any other way?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to change my wallpaper, either by going to Personalization nor Right clicking on my wallpaper picture. It happened after I performed a System Restore.
I have tried googling it for hours almost, and tried different troubleshooting techniques, with out luck of course!
* Regedit - Made a new DWORD (Or something) With NoChangingWallpaper to 0 value
* "Ease Of Acess" tab in control panel. (There were some other mroe advanced options that had me cooncerned about mucking up, so I cautiously steered away )
I had the OS win 7 ultimate 64 bits installed in a IDE HD, and it never gave me any trouble. Because i'm a bit of a speed freak i decide to install a SSD and install on it the OS (same copy of the other one). I started by changing the motherboard to AHCI and in the sequence boot placed the SSD as the first to boot and the old IDE (still with the OS installed) as second. Everything went smooth. Made every ugrade and update needed without a problem. remove in the msconfig the old IDE record so it does not dual boot. Its running like silk. So far so good.
the problem was when i wanted to change the wallpaper. It doesnt assume it. not even the default ones (i can only change the solid colors).
I tried everything from changing the registry keys, creating new users, deleting the trasncodewallpaper, changing the local policies etc. etc. etc. Nothing seems to work.
The only thing it is giving me a error is the windows index rating or something like that. It is unable to finish it, gives some kind of error. dont know why. I have the latest everything installed. Latest games and movies run perfectly...
So in the last month i noticed some of my folders i keep on the desktop change form the newer slicker icon of a folder back to the typical windows yellow folder. Then more and more until all of my folders where like that. Then all of sudden some sounds started to go from a normal contemporary notification sound to a dull sound from XP or older. Then about a week ago the "bar" if you will changed from a typical Win7 style back to a XP one where its dull. And its like that everywhere.
I have tried icon programs at first to fix the folder issue and unless i wanna do it one buy one its sucks and i just want them back to a normal win7 folder nothing fancy.I have tried changing themes via the ones pre installed and it might change my desktop wallpaper it never changes the "bars"Also tried other non microsoft theme programs with the same results.
ALSO i scanned my pc with Malwarebyes, CCleaner, WinASO, AVG and cleaned all up and so on rebooted all the same.Thought i may have installed too many apps or at least big apps (photo/video editing) and i uninstalled a few with no difference. So then i decided to check out my ram. So i make a bootable disc of a memory scanner. Ended up getting into the millions of errors with the ram i had and i stopped it before it was done with the intentions on getting ram and not waiting until scan was done to tell me i had 500 trillion errors lol.
Bought new ram installed it started her up and BAM .... same thing.I have not scanned this ram as my wife uses it while im at work and when im home i do alota 2nd job stuff on it so i dont like having it offline long.
but today I am stumped. In Windows XP, there was an option to change the logon screen background color:HKEY_USERS.DEFAULTControl PanelColorsYou could change the string "Background" to any 3-digit RGB color code you wanted.(i.e., 0 0 0 = black, etc.)This color would show up on CTRL+ALT+DEL plus it would show up when you logged in remotely using Remote Desktop.Changing the logon screen background wallpaper is great when you're physically at the machine (and I've already done this), but you don't see it when you're connecting via Remote Desktop. Instead you're stuck with the OEM blue background color. The same key I mentioned above does in fact exist in Windows 7, but it doesn't appear to have any effect.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my windows 7 home premium laptop..previously I was able to change my wallpaper but how come it doesn't seem like I can now? For an ordinary person to change the wallpaper they had to right click desktop, select "personalise", then go to "desktop background" and select one. Problem now is that it doesn't do anything when I click a new wallpaper or selct one and click save.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't change my passwords often but figured it was about time to do the rounds and change them. I use the same password on all my computers and when I change one I change them all to the same p/w.Right now I am using Linux distro (Kubuntu) to ask for help here.I find that the change to the admin password on my Win7 drive is not happy with the new password. I went around and did them all at he same time. I can access every other OS on every drive with my new password but Win7 wont let me in. I have 3 of my daughters personal log ins and a guest log in as well as my own on win7 . I am the only admin user on the machine. Long story short, is there a fix for this or do I put a live Linux on the box and remove all my data, photos etc on to another drive and then re-install my win7. The Win7 disc is a genuine, legit paid for copy and other than this difficulty I don't have any problems with it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my password on my Windows 7 laptop set as a Russian word, and my default language is English. Usually, when I am prompted for my password, there is a button I can click to choose the keyboard language, so I can type it in. However, I restarted my computer and the button has vanished. This means that I cannot choose the Russian alphabet to type my password in, and my computer has become unusable. I do not have a password reset disk. Is there any way for me to fix this problem? If you need more information.

I right click on the FOLDER > PROPERTIES > CUSTOMIZE and CHANGE ICON but whatever picture i choose the folder icon doesn't change.
I've tried renaming the picture to .ico but that doesn't help either. I put the picture into another new folder by itself but that doesn't help either.
I get the error message : "The file contains no icons"
I have Win 7 x64 and originally set up and used one account that was an Admin account, thinking that I had all rights and priveleges as I should have, being the sole user.
Then I started noticing strange things like I was unable to change my Network Sharing to Off. I would select that option only to have it back On.
To my horror, I then realized that my computer had been hacked and a Default account had ALL rights and privileges and limited my account!
I called a computer specialist that reset my computer back to the original settings and am starting over. This time I have two accounts - an admin and regular account. I only work in the regular account now.
When I log in as an Admin to check up on things, I am am once again unable to disable network sharing even though I have a Homegroup.
How can I know if a hacker has taken over that account?
I have two network cards in my PC. A wireless and an ethernet card. The wireless connection is identified as a public network and I can change it.
My ethernet card is connected to another PC and I've got the two of them connected directly to each other...no routers or anything. I am unable to change the network type and it is stuck on Public Network. Is there anyway to fix this?
I have new emachines g525 laptop with windows 7 installed and updated (today).
The laptop has both cat5 and wifi networking and the issue I have is with the wifi although I haven't attempted it with the wired network.
My network consists of a gateway computer (not running windows) that has both an internal and external network interface, and there is a WiFi access point for the internal network.
The laptop connects to the access point and obtains an internal IP address using DHCP. The only access to the outside world is via a squid proxy on the gateway machine.
The problem is that when I connect with WiFi it sets the network as an "Unidentified network" and hence sets it as a "Public network". I can manually modify this each time to "Home network" via the "Choose home-group and sharing options" in "Network and Sharing Center". If I go to the "Set network Properties" popup it displays the Network name as "Unidentified network" and the icon as a bench. I am unable to change either of these properties even though the Network name field looks to be a text entry box. I would like to change the network name and have the laptop automatically use "Home network" for this connection.
I am unable to change my Creative Fatal1ty USB Gaming Headset HS-1000 from stereo to 5.1/7.1 though the configure option in Sound>Playback Devices. I want to do this so I can use X-Fi CMSS-3D with the headset (which I was using before I did a fresh install of my system), instead of having the headset on stereo and using a very basic form of X-Fi CMSS-3D
I am using the headset in a 3.0 USB port and not with a soundcard/onboard sound.
I have disabled onboard sound.
I have updated my Driver and Creative Audio Console to Creative Gaming Headsets Driver 1.01.0004 I have updated my Creative Console Launcher to Creative Console Launcher for Gaming Headsets 2.50.93
This issue has only happened after I have done a fresh install, and I did another to try and rectify this issue to no avail.
