Laptop Won't Start - WerFault Application Error
May 12, 2012I tried to un-hibernate my laptop this morning (I tend to only hibernate it overnight if I know I'm going to be using it immediately the following morning) and it won't let me log in.
By this I mean that it takes at least 15 minutes of the cursor in the middle of a black screen before it gets to the Login screen. The first time this happened, I was able to Login, but after that, none of the icons loaded up, only the taskbar. After which, a message popped up saying "WinLogin.exe - Bad Login". At which point I manually restarted the computer (as the Start button wasn't working) and chose "Start Windows normally." Now I am at the point that whenever it gets to the Login screen, it immediately restarts, and thus goes into a loop. I stopped this loop by manually restarting again, and selecting safe mode, at which point I got the following error message:
"WerFault.exe Application Error The instruction at 0x000007FEFD6C283C referenced memory at 0x000007FEFD6C283C. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc0000185. Click on OK to terminate the program." This was the only action I could take, so I did so. This immediately followed by an identical error message except with a different code, which began 0x000077....I was unable to see the rest because at that point the computer restarted.
Upon the next restart, I received a Blue Stop error message, which displayed for a few seconds before shutting down again. Key words I managed to see include: "There is an error with the program. The system was shut down to prevent damage to your computer. ...crucial thread issue...."
I literally have no idea what to do. If booting in Safe Mode has no effect, what can be done? I have also tried pressing F8 at the Dell startup screen (where it says to press F2 or F12 etc) but this just froze the machine!
I am running a 64 bit version of Windows 7 on a Dell Studio 1555 laptop.

Nov 27, 2011Everytime i start my computer and after putting my password, at the desktop, a box appears saying that program manager stops responding and it is needed to restart the pc. it does it ( by himself ) and it is a cicle that dont stop, only if i manually close

It all went well until I tried to open a 32 bit programme. IE 64 opens okay, but that�s it. If I open any 32 bit programme (and some of the management programmes) I get werfault.exe*32 in the processes in the task manager. This spirals out of control, it had got up to 7,000 open processes on one occasion.
I have opened in safe mode and everything starts fine.
I have disabled all services at startup in Msconfig, and all the programmes will open.
Any ideas?

WerFault.exe Error With Most Applications?
Apr 24, 2011My computer was "sleeping". Now when starting apps like Firefox, Thunderbird, Chrome, etc, I get an WerFault.exe error: "The instruction at 0x0000002b referenced memory at 0x0000002b. The memory could not be written". However, is does not affect IE or app that came with the OS.
Window 7 Ultimate 64bit, memory test did not indicate hardware failure, virus scan from live cd detected nothing.
Werfault.exe / PC Fails To Boot
Dec 16, 2012Over the last few days, I've suddenly started having a problem where I get a Werfault.exe window popping up and my PC will just grind to a complete halt, and the majority of programs won't open after and this error window will just keep appearing.If I try to restart my PC after this error has appeared but it gets stuck at the POST screen for a several seconds then restarts, and just keeps going. Pressing any of the keys to get into BIOS etc don't do anything, but after a while of pressing the reset / power button and leaving some time it will eventually boot.
PC Specs:
Windows 7 64-bit
i5 750 2.67Ghz
4GB DDR3 RAM
ATI Radeon 5770

On Firefox and Chrome the download just stops on Opera the speed changes to unknown and it stops downloading.I don't have a wireless connection I use modem and my net connection should be okay since on my old comp with same net it worked without problem.

Jan 29, 2013I'm running Outlook 2010 with about 5 separate POP 3 accounts. I archive regularly and compact after archiving. After a lot of trouble cloning a new C drive to an SSD, Outlook, along with a lot of other software, began acting strangely. Everything has pretty much been resolved except for the Outlook problem.
For no reason I can isolate, Outlook will suddenly close, giving the message that it had to close and it will now try to retrieve my data. It does so, unless I was in the middle of composing an email - that will be gone! Sometimes, instead of closing, it freezes and says application not responding.
I checked the disk for errors using scan now and it's fine. I've run memtest and it's fine. I've run in safe mode and it just shut down with no comments. In working my way through suggestions on this board, I just ran Sysinternals Process Explorer until the error occurred and went back to normal. In looking at Process Explorer, I'm afraid the actual data is overwhelming to me. However, I'll attach everything I have.

When I try going to a web page, it doesn't even try to load. It gives a very quick blink to the icon on the tab but that's it. I'm not receiving any windows errors. Apr 16, 2011about 2-5 minutes after logging in (fully loaded, I'm assuming) the computer seems to stop responding. If there's a scan, it will freeze, whatever I choose to do, it will ignore it, but the computer isn't frozen completely since I can still access the start menu. Computer works fine in safe mode. Jun 24, 2012My PC has recently stopped responding completely at times. Even Ctrl Alt Del doesn't bring up the usual menu, and I have to use the power button to reboot. There is no BSOD, but windows prompts me to choose between normal boot and safe mode when I reboot. The issue arises regardless of what I'm doing; it has occured when I'm gaming, or just surfing the internet. Running system restore to a restore point before the most recent updates from windows doesn't seem to fix the issue. The PC is about 1 year old. It's running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium, installed with an OEM disc on a custom system. Using a P67A-UD3-B3 motherboard and i5-2400 processor.

Dec 10, 2011Someone brought me their laptop yesterday, not usually my kinda thing to do repairs but I thought it was gonna be a software issue but no constant BSoDs on Vista so I figured I'd install 7 which worked fine for a bit but it was still playing up given it was a fresh install and then some more blue screens! I ran Windows Memory Diagnostic and it said there were errors within seconds but I couldn't get back onto 7 to view them. This morning I cleaned it out and swapped the memory to the other port but the screen wouldn't even switch on then, so I put it back and made sure it was seated properly and ran memory diagnostic again and no errors! Success! The only thing is, the fan isn't spinning it spins for about 5 seconds but then nothing and I imagine soon enough it'll overheat.

Jan 10, 2013I have just purchased a new battery for my Fujitsu Amilo pi 3660 notebook.
I have tried so many times to charge it. I have fuilly discharged it and recharged it. I have installed and reinstalled drivers. No matter what I do, it stops charging at exactly 45%.
I know the battery is sound and the problem is a software issue. Does anyone know how to change this cap on the battery. BTW The new battery has slightly, (very) more capacity. This has not been a problem in other laptops, but this Fujitsu certainly caps the charge at 45%
