Dec 4, 2009Ok, this was an easy option to locate and disable in XP, and even in Vista, but I am unable to locate the options for this service in v7.
Could someone assist please?

My computer was "sleeping". Now when starting apps like Firefox, Thunderbird, Chrome, etc, I get an WerFault.exe error: "The instruction at 0x0000002b referenced memory at 0x0000002b. The memory could not be written". However, is does not affect IE or app that came with the OS.
Window 7 Ultimate 64bit, memory test did not indicate hardware failure, virus scan from live cd detected nothing.
I tried to un-hibernate my laptop this morning (I tend to only hibernate it overnight if I know I'm going to be using it immediately the following morning) and it won't let me log in.
By this I mean that it takes at least 15 minutes of the cursor in the middle of a black screen before it gets to the Login screen. The first time this happened, I was able to Login, but after that, none of the icons loaded up, only the taskbar. After which, a message popped up saying "WinLogin.exe - Bad Login". At which point I manually restarted the computer (as the Start button wasn't working) and chose "Start Windows normally." Now I am at the point that whenever it gets to the Login screen, it immediately restarts, and thus goes into a loop. I stopped this loop by manually restarting again, and selecting safe mode, at which point I got the following error message:
"WerFault.exe Application Error The instruction at 0x000007FEFD6C283C referenced memory at 0x000007FEFD6C283C. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc0000185. Click on OK to terminate the program." This was the only action I could take, so I did so. This immediately followed by an identical error message except with a different code, which began 0x000077....I was unable to see the rest because at that point the computer restarted.
Upon the next restart, I received a Blue Stop error message, which displayed for a few seconds before shutting down again. Key words I managed to see include: "There is an error with the program. The system was shut down to prevent damage to your computer. ...crucial thread issue...."
I literally have no idea what to do. If booting in Safe Mode has no effect, what can be done? I have also tried pressing F8 at the Dell startup screen (where it says to press F2 or F12 etc) but this just froze the machine!
I am running a 64 bit version of Windows 7 on a Dell Studio 1555 laptop.
I would like to know if I disable the "Error Reporting" program is this also the "Event Viewer" program ? or are these two separate programs ? I just do not feel comfortable having my personal home computer telling (mother Microsoft) any of my personal "Error Reporting" problems However I still want to be able to know when and why my computer rebooted in the middle of the night at the same time for no apparent reason.

I was using Disk Cleanup in Windows 7 and noticed I had 715MB worth of System queued Windows error reporting files. Is it safe to delete these files?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recall reading some time ago about a new feature in Windows 7 for user generated error reporting that would allow a user to record their desktop / take periodic screenshots while they replicated an error, which would then allow them to forward / email the report to someone who could offer help.
I can't seem to locate this feature in Windows 7 Ultimate, and i'm having trouble locating any articles talking about the feature.
Was it removed or am i not looking hard enough?

All work great, but since the last updates whenever I open action center there are loads of non critical outlook errors, all the same! I don't know what the error means, I never had them before the updates and I dont want to see them! I have tried: repair on both office and outlook. Excluding outlook from error reporting, turning error reporting off! they still appear, about every other time outlook is opened. They are all identical! each error is phoned home. I don't want them to be!
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I upgrade to Windows 7, Home Premium 64 bit from Vista 64
It all went well until I tried to open a 32 bit programme. IE 64 opens okay, but thats it. If I open any 32 bit programme (and some of the management programmes) I get werfault.exe*32 in the processes in the task manager. This spirals out of control, it had got up to 7,000 open processes on one occasion.
I have opened in safe mode and everything starts fine.
I have disabled all services at startup in Msconfig, and all the programmes will open.
Any ideas?

View 6 Replies View RelatedOver the last few days, I've suddenly started having a problem where I get a Werfault.exe window popping up and my PC will just grind to a complete halt, and the majority of programs won't open after and this error window will just keep appearing. If I try to restart my PC after this error has appeared but it gets stuck at the POST screen for a several seconds then restarts, and just keeps going. Pressing any of the keys to get into BIOS etc don't do anything, but after a while of pressing the reset / power button and leaving some time it will eventually boot.
PC Specs:
Windows 7 64-bit
i5 750 2.67Ghz
4GB DDR3 RAM
ATI Radeon 5770
I'm a bit confused why it's saying this. All the RAM is PC6400 and it's compatible with my machine.I see this when I go to System properties (right-click Computer and properties). Beside the Installed Memory (RAM) label, it says 4.00 GB (3.00 GB usable).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm posting this using WinXP (my usual OS), and Windows 7 runs on the same hardware except it's a separate boot disk (ie, not a dual boot system).
I know I can click a link on the Windows 7 desktop to report problems etc, but how can I do the same from a machine not running Windows 7? Is there a URL that can be made sticky on this forum, perhaps?
In particular I want to direct them here - a solution (albeit trivial).
So, 7 is reporting 4.5tb of network activity in 11 hours, with 600 gigs sent. I'm connected to my mac file server with roughly 1.8 TB of external hard drives (not NTFS either. mac formatted). It just keeps pumping out 5 megabytes a second and i have no idea where it's going. It doesn't show up in my resource manager, either, Any ideas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust installed Windows 7 RTM and my Sata HDD's and DVDRW are reporting as SCSI devices. I would get this problem in XP if I installed the mobo's raid drivers by accident. If I did then the devices would report as SCSI and the dvd burner would report as a cdrom and would not burn or read dvds
Whereas in Windows 7 the burner is reporting as a DVDRW scsi CDrom and will play dvd's and burn them too.
So at the moment there doesn't seem to be any problem however whilst navigating through the control panel I noticed the WEI. So I took a look and it's report my primary hard drive with a score of 5.9. The hard drive is a brand new Western Digital Caviar Black 500gb 32mb cache disk, is this score normal for such a drive?
Also is there anything else to worry about with the devices reporting as SCSI or is okay to leave it like that.
Action Centre keeps reporting that my Bull-guard Firewall is turned off. When I check BullGuard is on & working OK. How do I stop this annoyance without turning off the action centre?
