Videos (mpg,avi) No Longer Show Thumbnails?
Oct 8, 2010My videos (mpg,avi) no longer show thumbnails. They were OK then they just appear now as icons! It's weird as some of them show thumbnails. How do I get them back?

Folders No Longer Show Rows And Columns Of Icons/thumbnails.
Nov 11, 2011this afternoon they began showing only ONE column, on the left side of the folder. the remainder of the folder is blank. see attached screen shot.

Aug 13, 2010I'm using Windows 7 just like you all. Ultimate edition, 64-bit. The system is running perfectly without any problems, but I got one issue after two weeks of using Windows 7. The problem is that video preview thumbnails are not showing up. "Show thumbnails instead of icons" in view options is checked.Take a look. On the left side is my HDV camcoder captured files, .mt2 format. But on the right side is my video folder, contains .mp4 and .wmv formats. As you can see .mp4 .wmv thumbnails are missing.

Dec 6, 2012I have windows 7 ultimate and my pictures won't show in thumbnails I don't know why it always worked until two days ago. I thought it will fix itself, but it hasn't what can I do to fix it??? an exaple of what is happening is that my movies and pictures used to show in the folder before you opened it and now it doesn't. My movies only shows the default program that opens the movies the same with my pictures.

Sep 13, 2011I've been downloading many Videos and I watch them on WMP (I'm running Windows 7 64Bit) and I have variety of files. But for some reason files like .Mp4 would show thumbnails/an image of the video while my MKV files just show an Icon. I have installed K-Lite codec pack 5.2.0 (64Bit) to enable my WMP to watch several files. Also I have try installing the Divx preview thing (Forgot what's it called) and it does make the Mkv show the thumbnail but it lags incredibly when I play it. Is there any alternate way to make my MKV videos show thumbnails?

Diagnostics show nothing wrong with the storage drive, nor anything else that I can think of. At first I thought it must have been due to me accidentally deleting a file, or not really having saved it as I thought that I had, but I now know that is not the case. I'm accustomed to what usually happens when a file becomes corrupted, it just becomes unusable, but still remains visible to the file manager and other programs, but I'm wondering if it might totally disappear?

Dec 8, 2009I can't get sound from any of the web pages I've visited. I tried to install a codec package, and it won't allow me. I am the sole user of the computer, I'm running W7 64bit with a X-Fi soundcard. All other sound works fine and it is hooked up via spdif optical link to a seperate surround sound system.
Therefore, My first question, How do I get the sound to work?
2nd question, even if is or isn't the codec issue, why won't windows update the registry with the codec installation package (1402 error). I am the administrator!

Aug 25, 2011I'm putting together a slide show of 3D images that I want to show on my TV next week when we have company.I would like the images to stay on the screen a little longer without having to actually create a slide show in some special application like Premiere.
The Slide Show function in Explorer works great if I can control the timing.
HDDs Show In BIOS, But Do Not Show In Disk Management
Oct 14, 2011just completed a first-time new Windows 7 PC build. Successful installation of Windows 7 Pro on WD 600GB 10000 system drive. Went back and installed 4 additional HDD. (2) WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM and (2) WD Caviar 7200 500GB HDD from XP system that were used for storage.
BIOS sees all HDDs, but are not viewable in Disk Management.
System Specs:
Antec Nine Hundred
ASUS P6X58D-E MOBO
[Code].....
However, only three are visible in Disk Management. Missing (1) WD 500GB (previously used on WinXP system) and (1) new WD 1T.
Thumbnails Not Showing Up?
Jan 25, 2011I previously had a computer with Vista on it. I purchased a new computer with Windows 7 and installed MS Office 2010. I transferred all my files from my old computer to my new computer and now when I go to insert pictures into my website, the pictures are not showing up as thumbnails so I can view all at the same time. They just show that little icon.I have went through a lot of the threads in response to this problem and have tried them all without any success. Could it be old settings that transferred over and are not compatible.

Jan 12, 2011I have a 50gb partition that holds mostly video files. In Explorer they show the icon for their file type generated by KMPlayer (my default media player) but I cannot figure out how to go back to thumbnail view.
I tried the View settings in Explorer choosing large icons. And in Organize>Folder Options choose to uncheck the box for "always show icons never thumbnails". But I can't get this drive to show thumbnails. The root folder and all subfolders show only KMP icons.

Jun 21, 2011I have this issue with thumbnails of photos taking a very long time to load when I open a folder in windows explorer. I mean a really long time, like 5+ minutes, for a folder that contains say 200 pictures. And this happens all the time, regardless of what else may be running, and regardless of what size thumbnails I select. What's weird too is that if I have an external harddrive hookep up through a USB 2 or 3, and open a folder in windows explorer with a similar number of pictures, those thumbnails load normal, fast. So it's only slow when it's reading thumbnails from my internal harddrive. Otherwise I don't believe my internal drive is slow, as everything else like launching programs etc works fine.
btw, I'm on an Envy 17 laptop, i5, 8 gigs RAM, 640 gig hars drive, Win 7 home premium. But I don't think my system config matters, since as I said, thumbnails load fine when reading from an external drive.
