I plan to upgrade my laptop which currently running 64-bit Windows Vista Business. Is it possible I can just buy the upgrade version Of Windows 7 Professional from Amazon to upgrade my notebook? Is the Windows 7 Upgrade included the 64bit version?
View 1 RepliesFrom some reason, when I go to do an upgrade install from vista business 32bit to 7 professional 32bit I receive an error message saying that you cant do an upgrade install from XP to 7?? Really stumped about this, I think I have read through just about every topic but to no avail.
Doing a clean install is not an option as I have far to many programs and no installation cd's.
My wife has a toshiba laptop with legal copy Vista Business OEM on it, And would like to get Windows 7 home premium.If she gets the upgrade version can we just do a clean install or am i going to get in all sorts of problems? On my Desktop i just installed the upgrade on a clean hdd and had no problems but i did have the number for vista home premium.Can someone say on this forum just buy the upgrade and you have no problems or do i have get the professional or ultimate upgrade?

Upgrade Advisor does not show Home Premium as an upgrade but I don't need anything more than that and don't want to pay the full price for what is basically a downgrade.
It doesn't make sense that I would have to pay for a full version of Home Premium when I already have a Vista Business version.
Does anyone have an answer to this problem.
Can i use win 7 pro full retail to upgrade from vista business I do not want to have to GO AND INSTALL ALL THE PROGRAMS PUN WITH VISTA?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI own a acer aspire laptop 5100 series which came with Vista pre installed on it.My ex boyfired decided to install Windows 7 Professional on my laptop earlier this year and now I can't seem to get skype working properly like it use to before Win 7. Nobody can hear me and I've configured the the microphone and speakers to how they should be set in order for skype to work but no one can hear although I can hear every one just fine. I have the latest version on skype installed. I was wondering if the issue is because I have windows 7 on here instead of what it originally came with?

Result each time is the Windows coloured flag coming together then "Setup is starting services". I understand that Vista must be installed and activated for the upgrade to work. Attempts to install Vista with Win 7 RC running or booting from the Vista disc lead to error code 0x80070103, insufficient free space. My HDD has > 450 Gb free space in 2 partitions. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a self built PC running XP Pro SP3, and I'm planning to upgrade this to Windows 7 Professional, initially dual booting until I've sorted out all hardware & driver problems.The hardware is an ASUS M3A78-CM motherboard which I know supports 64 bits architecture, 2 x 1Mb DDR2 800 MHz DIMMS and an AMD Athlon II x2 250 Processor @ 3GHz AM3 CPU which, I understand, also has 64-bit instructions.
To the nitty-gritty, given that I can easily buy more RAM as required - there are still 2 free slots on the motherboard),should I go for 32-bit or jump to 64-bit. Will my existing software (including Office 2010, Acronis Disk Director and True Image, Steganos Suite etc) install and reap the benefit, or will I need further expense to upgrade all these.And how much RAM should I buy if I stick with 32 bit or if I jump to 64 bit.
Currently I've got HP 64, I dunno If the features would be worth it for me. But one thing I do like is that gpedit.msc is included in Professional and above.Should I fork out $130 for the upgrade ?And what would be the main difference between Professional and Ultimate ?

Is there any issues upgrading from a Dell loaded version of Windows? I was running windows 7 home premium 64bit at the time with ubuntu 11.10( I think) my computer crashed while I was running a mcafee scan and has not booted since ubuntu also does not boot due to the windows 7 system failure. Any way I was wondering if I bought a windows professional 64bit upgrade, could I Install it from boot? I also need to know if it would wipe all virus's from the hard drive. It would be best to mention that I have tried safe mode, safe mode with networking, my recovery discs and a blue screen repair discs all that happens when running these is a black screen with white cursor I left them all for an hour to see if anything happens but sadly nothing does.
