View 4 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 (new computer) I'm trying to transfer folders from Outlook Express to Thunderbird. Found out that if I first transfer them to Windows Live Mail then to Thunderbird it would be easier. I saved the Outlook Express Folder from my old computer, which is long gone, to a travel drive. Now I'm trying to import them to WLM, but it won't do it. I found out I need to uncheck "read" under properties. I've tried and tried that, but every time it reverts right back to having it checked.

Upon reinstalling everything I tried to access both msconfig and regedit under the search box in the start menu. When it does this it says "No items match your search". What could be the problem? I looked in google these days and I didnot find something that works.
In UNIX, for changing the directory path, there is "cd" command. .This works fine in windows 7 too.. But the problem comes when we are trying to change the path using environment variables. .
In UNIX, cd $JAVA_HOME changes the path to the value set for JAVA_HOME,
Similarly is there any command in Windows which does the trick from command prompt for changing path using Environment variables. .

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I restarted my computer after running a check of the hard drive, Igot a message that read "C:windowssystem32configsystemprofileDesktop refers to a location that isunavailable." The desktop had reverted to a default appearance and all the icons on it except for the recycle bin were gone. Under the Start Menu, the only program listed was Solitaire, though if I clicked "All Programs" at the bottom it did list them all. I read that it might be a registry issue, so I downloaded and ran "Free Windows Registry Repair", but when I restarted the computer afterwards I saw it did not fix the problem. I also read it could be an issue with "hkey_local_machinesoftwaremicrosoftwindows NTcurrentversionprofilelist". That did not come up when I ran the Registry Repair program, and I cannot get to regedit, because Run does not appear as an option when I type run in the search bar in the Start Menu.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOk So I got myself into a unique bind here. I was trying to install some custom system files (for a theme) and I did it wrong and now I cant open explorer.exe . I dont want to goto a backup because this is a easy fix. (in my view). So I need to know how to run command prompt with administrative privleges from command prompt.
I am trying to do this command: copy explorer.exe C:Windows
So if there is also another command I can just tack onto that that gives me admin rights to do it. I would be happy.
I'm a Linux user just starting to get the hang of Windows 7. How can one perform these functions with the Windows cd command:
1) Go back to the previous directory (cd - in Bash)
2) Go to the user's home directory (cd ~ in Bash)
3) Bookmark a directory (not built into bash, but cdargs or DerB can be added)
When I type into the command prompt the following: DIR "C:UsersRoyMy Documents" I do not get a listing of the My Documents directories and files. Instead the message displayed is "File not found".
