Typing In All Caps But Caps Lock Is Disabled
Dec 20, 2011I don't know if I hit some key combo or what but I was typing a letter in word pad and suddenly my typing is in all caps. I have used a reg file to disable my caps lock key on this laptop because it gets in my way - a long time ago. I know it cannot be the caps lock key. I do not have a shift key sticking.
I saved the letter, then copied it to Polyedit another word processor, and it still types in all caps. Firefox does not seem to be effected. I even tried rebooting and nothing helped.

Mar 4, 2012When ever i have any type of screen open (i.e. the internet, a game, word, Photoshop, ect.) and i hit the caps lock key, my computer takes me off of the program i was using. It did not exit out of it, its just the same as if you are typing, click on the task bar, then have to re-click on the computers window of the program to continue using it. This is very annoying when it comes to typing long essays.

Feb 8, 2011A week ago I spilled some water inside my laptop keyboard. At the beginning I couldn't type at all, but now the only problem I have is whenever I click the "n" or "b" keys the caps lock turns on (but the letters appear). Clicking on the actual caps lock key doesn't work.
I think the solution wouldn't be to map the caps lock key, but to completely disable its function (as if caps lock function doesn't exists in the system).

Not Getting Notified When Turning Caps Lock On/off?
Jan 14, 2012On my laptop I don't get the quick image on my screen when I turn my caps lock on/off like I do when I turn my mute on/off, brightness up/down or sound up/down. It's quite annoying as there is no light on my keyboard or anything to tell me so if I have to find out whether I've got caps lock on I have to type something into a text box where the text is visible (unlike a secret password box).

While the alert is showing no input from the keyboard is accepted. This is frustrating because I usually hit Caps Lock and type immediately, and then find about 6 letters have not been accepted. Jan 16, 2010I've played several games on Windows 7 now. Every game I've played I have had problems when I hit the caps lock key. When I push it the computer goes back to the desktop and then two things will happen. I can't even go back to the game when clicking the icon on the taskbar or when I click on the icon the game will open back up within a window (instead of full screen). The game that won't open back up is operation flashpoint: dragon rising and the game that opens in a window is assassins creed.This doesn't seem to be a problem others are experiencing, because I can't find any information on the issue. Also I believe it's a Windows 7 issue rather than my hardware because it never happened when using Vista.

In Windows 7 (Ultimate x64), it seems the default behavior for handling volume changes from media keys is to apply them to the default audio device. That is, unless the device sending the volume keys happens to also contain a soundcard, in which case Windows applies the volume changes to the device. On the surface this makes sense, but in practice it can be mildly annoying to some people. Consider the case with my keyboard: on most days, I have a plain old keyboard with media keys. My media keys control iTunes in the background and change my default system volume. Works great. But my keyboard has ports for a headset w/mic. When I plug in my headset my plain old keyboard is now keyboard+media keys+playback device+recording device. Now, Windows decides volume media keys originating from the keyboard should be applied to my headset volume. Bummer.
This is what I'm looking to change. I want the volume keys to continue affecting the default playback device (my headset has inline volume control). I'm hoping it's just a registry edit, but I'm willing to pick apart whatever I have to to make the change.
PS: It may be worth noting this only applies to media keys using USB scan codes. If the device happens to use the PS/2 scan codes for Mute, Vol Up, and Vol Down the changes are applied to the default playback device. This provides another alternative way of changing the behavior: if I can remap the action taken for the USB scan code to the action taken for the PS/2, it would also accomplish what I'm after.

Apr 17, 2012I managed to figure out that I have to use the VCenter Converter Standalone itself separately to get it to work out better. I am currently able to boot my VM, but my files are corrupted so it sends me to a restore method. I attempted to restore from my external HD and it seemed to work, but then it gave me an error.
