View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running windows 7 home edition. A couple months ago I got the bad image date virus that disable my google chrome and my epson workforce printer, I had found it disable my print spooler, I got rid the the virus, but it did more damage, I uninstalled the printer drivers and went through the windows services and set them all to automatic, but I cannot reinstall the driver.
Then I saw my graphics and sound drivers are out dated but I cannot update them either, it just times out when I try to update them. I noticed when I try to update other programs, they hang up on the system restore point, so I tried to create a new one. I get the shadow volume cannot be created message, I set the shadow volume services to automatic, and went through all the dependency's but I still can't create a restore point, I am guessing the problems are related

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer is unable access my router. The power went out for a second and clearly that did something. I have an HP p7-1174 desk top, running Windows 7 Home Premium x64. The processor is an AMD A8-3800.
There are now several devices in the manager with yellow exclamation points, all relegated to the LAN. I get a Code 31, unable to load drivers message. I ran the sfc scan and there were no integrity violations. I tried updating drivers without any luck. My router is working fine because my laptop and iPad both work online.
The problem seems to be that Windows can't load the drivers for my 802.11n wireless LAN card. I tried updating drivers but it said the driver was up to date. I tried changing manually but the only two listed were the same and when I clicked one, it said Windows was unable to load.
I am currently attempting to install Windows 7 on an SSD RAID Array, and I have encountered several issues (this has been a one step forward, two steps backward affair). The issue that I am currently facing is the fact that I am unable to load RAID drivers during the OS installation. As is normal for this kind of installation I choose "Custom" and I cannot see any drives listed, this is the point at which I click on "Load Drivers" and then I select "Browse". My challenge is that regardless of how I "insert the drivers", which is to say whether I put them on a separate USB drive (FAT32 partitioned), or take the Windows 7 installation DVD out and insert a CD with drivers - I simply cannot navigate to the drivers.Because I am unable to load the RAID drivers I simply cannot proceed with the OS installation.*** Note ****As of writing this I came across a program called RT Seven Lite, which has allowed me to create a "slip streamed" Windows 7 installation - using the program I was able to integrate the troublesome drivers into the Windows 7 installation disk.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal. First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly. After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI do not have the new laptop on, it is an expensive paper weight at the moment. None of my XP software works. I loaded MS XP Mode, I was able to load Office 2000, neither Outlook or outlook express work and I dispise MS Mail and all web based mail. None of my CAD programs worked in XP mode. Note: Acer does not have the hardware support. I removed MS XP Mode. Loaded VMware Player with XP Pro,loaded all my programs, copied my old HDD to new files in virtual machine. Setup Office 2000 Outlook and outlook express work perfect as does all office 2000. Cad programs work (or so I thought) I wasted 3 hours designing a generator room in one of my cad programs and all was well till I tried to create a new file on the virtual drive and was unable to. Tried to save my drawing to any file, was not allowed.
Spent the rest of the day re-drawing the generator room on old laptop. Tried all of the things on setting up networking the drives and folders, was still unable to create new file folders or save any new cad files. There is nothing wrong with this old laptop, it is just 6 years old and found a great deal on the Acer. Tried to load XP on a new HDD, that failed (somewhat) after loading and looking at the properties, many drivers were not working. It seems all MFG's are looking to MS to develop their drivers. What else can I try to get XP Mode to work like XPI can not afford to upgrade all my programs and with that, none of my old files would be usable.I use several cad programs daily at the same time as I work on several projects at the same time, plus I do all my own quotes and PO's and send to vendors, plus receive in everything. I have to be able to create new files and save everything I do where I want toThis is also the first time I have used a new OS so soon. I usually give it a few years.I went from 95 2nd Ed to XP all was smooth. Stayed away from ME and Vista like the plague
Im having a couple problems with my computer, firstly when i boot up The icon for the LAN onnection has a red cross to say its not connected even though it is and it will recognise that it is after approx. 5 minutes and will only say network instead of the actual name if my connection (network99) secondly when i log on from booting up the desktop take a while to load and all the icon thumbnails load slowly one at a time and its really slow.

(I don't know all the specs to her machine) Windows will not load.Gives me two options at start up, normal or Repair start up, I have tried.both, normal brings me back to the same menu, so then I check repair, itruns through to the windows loading, then goes to a blank screen with the cursor. When she got this pc I created 4 recovery discs from the start menu the.4th one I have labelled Recovery Environment 64 bit. Can anyone guide me here?If her hard drive was fried would I still get the Windows starting up menu?I have never tried to repair a laptop, have done it a quite few times on my.desktops, but am at a loss since there are no messages at all during start up.Okay, I have tried using the disks, the first one seemed to run through, then I had to shut system off and put the 2 and 3rd recovery disk in, but this is part of the message I received when I tried to run those disks.Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 002)This product is covered by on or more of the following.PXE Rom the same message seemed to fill the screen - looks to me a failed drive? How do I check that? When I went into the Bios it seemed surprisingly limited (sparse) , not sure if it said hard drive or not Can I fix this without taking it to a shop? and if I had to buy another HD.for the laptop is the Windows 7 OS on those 4 recovery discs I made or will I have to buy another licence?

I have made sure there is enough disk space, updated the drivers & run cCleaner registry check - all to no avail.I have also explored the Microsoft suggestions for the failure to load. It would appear that it might be caused by the Background Intelligent Transfer Service as this doesn't start. It won't start if you access it manually through the control panel either.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of acquiring the parts to build a new PC and was kicking around the idea of how I want to load windows 7, my programs and files and such? I was thinking about buying two different hard drives, one smaller one (250GB or smaller) and one bigger (maybe 2TB). I would use the smaller hard drive to only load the operating system on and the other hard drive would be used to load all my programs, files, emails and such on.I'm thinking that by having the OS only on one drive it would be easier to recover from should I have another hard drive failure on the drive the OS is loaded on. Same for the programs, files etc.. should that disk develop a problem down the road it would make it much easier to recover from if everything was on a separate disk than the OS?I eventually plan on building a small server for my home network that would be used to run a network that consists of 1 server, 2 Pc's , 1 laptop, 2 Netbooks, several smart phones and 1 centralized laser printer that everyone can print from.
