View 2 Replies View RelatedYou have already checked all your settings and have done everything right. Your hard wired network connections work fine. When you go to wireless all your homegroup and network locations or most of them vanish with no resolution.Quick Solution: Make sure the time your router is keeping is the same as your network computers, including turning on Daylight Savings if applicable.Explanation:There are several threads on the internet about Windows 7 not finding workgroup or network printers or computers on wireless notebooks. This was after people painstakenly went through all the trouble shooters, turned off and restarted their firewalls and antivirus, rebooted and rebooted, reset and reset over and over again, checked all their settings and did everything right and still could not resolve their problem.
There is a likely resolution for this problem - at least it worked for me. It took me nearly a week to find this solution.Occasionally, when running the homegroup troubleshooter, I got the message that the time was not the same on all the network computers. I went around and checked all the computers and the time was the same - so why the message? However when I went to the router, I found that daylight savings was not turned on and the time the router was keeping was an hour different from everything else. Low and behold when I corrected the time on the router all the connection problems were resolved on the notebooks.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just recently ran in to an extremely frustrating problem with my laptop. I have an asus laptop, it's one of the gaming models. Just recently, it has shown that wireless connectivity is turned off whenever i boot up my computer. The thing is, though, that the manual switch to enable wireless connectivity is switched on. Whenever i attempt to switch it off, then back on, the graphic that pops up on your screen showing that wireless connectivity is disabled pops up even when i switch it on. It does the same exact thing when i use fn + f2, only the graphic saying that it's disabled pops up every time i press it, and wireless connectivity stays disabled no matter what. I have absolutely no idea what to do, this literally just happened out of no where when i booted up my computer yesterday.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop computer, and have a D-Link DWA-510 wireless network adapter installed. Though I cannot pick up any wireless networks even though I know there are wireless networks as my iPhone picks them up.
I have tried the following:
1/ Clicking on the wireless/internet icon (not sure what to called it, it's the icon that brings up network and sharing) located on the bottom right of the bottom task bar. though no networks show up.
2/ Adding a new wirless network via 'Network and Sharing' option - though when windows does a search for networks it never stops searching.
3/ Installing the new drivers from the D-Link website
If I look at the back of the tower the network card that I have the external antenna connected to has one static green light lit. So I gather it is installed correctly as it is lit and it was installed when I brought the computer, although if I go to device manager it is not listed under Networks?!. I have triedto search on turning the wireless capability on though I cannot find a solution that actualy turns it on.

The WIFI card is disabled, the physical button on the laptop is red indicating that it is disabled. When I press it to switch the wifi back on, the switch dont respond WWhen I run network diagnostic: error is: Wireless capability is turned off. But I see no option to turn it on. I checked the network adapters through the Control panel and also in the device manager. They are up and running. No yellow sign, no ! marks. Restarted several times. No change. Restarted in safe mode. Deleted the device in device manager and reinstalled. No change. Disabled firewall. No change. (DO I need to restart after disabling?) Checked the manual for Key combinations to toggle wireless on off. But there were non.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was just about to buy the Windows 7 upgrade version with the student bundle, when it asked me if I want 32 bit or 64 bit. I thought it would send both, but, sadly, it won't. I do want 64-bit, since Asus decided to pack 4 gigs of ram into my laptop even though they sent it with a 32 bit OS...
So here's my questions:
1. Can I use the 64-bit Windows 7 Home Upgrade Disk to perform a clean install of 64-bit Win7 Home on my notebook that came with 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium?
I am new to the whole upgrade thing... I am used to buying complete OS's. The price is what caught me here. So, I searched around and found that I can't upgrade directly and keep all my files. That is not a problem, I'll back them up... But can I make the clean install to 64-bit? Do I need to use my product key from Vista or what, and will it work to upgrade to 7 in another bit version?
~~ Just found the answer from a thread that got bumped right after I posted this. Sorry for the duplicate thread~~
2. Can my notebook even support Windows 7? It is an Asus N81Vg:
CPU: Intel Duo P8600
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT120M
I'm unsure if the drivers will work and everything, although I do think they should as it's a newer model...
In a few days time I will be changing my ISP in the UK from Sky to BT.
BT are providing me with their newest wireless router free of charge as part of the deal and I'll be using that to set up my wireless network, which will consist of an HP Pavilion desktop, a Toshiba laptop, a Sony Vaio laptop, an HP wireless printer and a Samsung HDTV.
This means my Sky wireless router is surplus to requirements, so I was wondering if I could convert it to a wireless access point to improve the range of my BT wireless network.
I've read a couple of supposedly easy-to-understand articles on Google and have to say they left me more confused than ever.
My computer fail to connect wireless after changing window. When I troubleshoot it tales wireless capability is switched off. I tray to click key fn F8 but no respond.
