whenever i go into the control panel to look at the mouse settings it says: Unable to connect to the synaptics pointing device driver.i have tried reinstalling the driver but nothing happened also the windows on my laptop keep going over the taskbar that is unrelated but that's also irritating and i don't know how to fix it and its making the task bar pointless because i have to minimise everything to find it.

The dell rep remotely took over the computer and cleared out a bunch of the programs from startup in various locations. Since then I have not been able to use the scroll and multi-touch features on my mousepad. I can't find where to turn this back on and re-installing the driver has not helped.

My dad is working on a Dell Studio 1735 laptop and can't get the scroll bar to work. He's tried going into mouse settings but a scroll bar option wasn't there. He also tried to update drivers and check the touch pad settings to no avail. Anyone know the solution? In dell support there is no win 7 64-bit option.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDell Studio 1535 I've successfully installed Windows 7 on a clients laptop, the thing is the touchpad won't scroll anymore after having installed Windows 7.I have all the drivers and everything, even the driver for the touchpad.I just can't figure out to set/configure the touchpad to scroll again.
Note: The touchpad itself does work, but it just won't scroll.
I have installed the Elan touchpad driver I can't get it to scroll correctly. In addition an Elan touchpad .exe run box comes up at every boot which does nothing when Run. I finally browsed to it in the Programs folder and deleted that .exe file so it wouldn't pop up at every start. It shows installed in the Device Manager, however doesn't have the functions I had in the Samsung factory install. This and the sound driver don't seem to work right when installed, as though there is more software needed that isn't on the Downloads page at Support for NP-RF511.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a gateway m-6843 laptop that originally came with vista. It has a track pad, or whatever that thing on laptops is called. I installed windows 7. In both FF and IE when the cursor is NOT in the scroll area, it acts as though I am holding on to the scroll bar. So if I move my cursor down near the bottom of the main part of the browser page (again, outside of the scroll area) it acts as if I grabbed the scroll bar and flung it down. It is intermittent, but bad enough that doing anything online is almost impossible.

If I move the window I see it is there but I cannot access it with the window displayed normally.I don't see any scroll bar either on the side to allow me to move further down the page.

Typing along and it somehow highlights everything and if you aren't watching and aren't fast, the next key stroke zaps everything.So I found before on my old lap top that the fn key and the f3 key together will work as a toggle (that sometimes irritatingly toggles its own self) to turn touch pad on and off.On my new laptop I found it had a control to completely disable the touchpad which was way cool, one time, done. Now amazingly enough the control is not locatable and the touch pad is activated and the fn f3 fix does not work either.computer manufacturer says restore to default settings but I don't buy it there has to be another way as that will wipe out all my settings and more?

My Dell laptop touch pad is working fine for moving the pointer and clicking but the scrollbar for web pages etc. that runs vertically down the left of the pad does not function at all. I have had a look around the Device Manager but I cant find the pads entry to update it. Perhaps this is just something that is incompatible with Windows 7...

I have an ASUS laptop model: N43S I used fn-f9 keys to disable my touchpad, and after I pressed these two keys, a picture of a locked touchpad appeared on the screen but the touchpad was still working. So I went to control panel -->device manager-->mice and other pointing devices-->driver but the disable button was disable too.
I should disable my touchpad because I have to type my thesis and the touchpad is a big problem for me.

I've also taken out the battery (found in another thread) but nothing. In device manager there is an exclamation mark next these:1. Under keyboard. keyboard device filter2. Under mouse and other pointing devices. ELAN PS/2 port smart padDouble clicking both of them gets these properties for each respectively:1. Under keyboard. As for the touchpad, I'm just using a wireless mouse. I replaced the keyboard a couple days later with the new one, and when I turned on my laptop, it works again, but when I put my laptop to sleep and wake it up, I hit enter, and then it stops working. View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know for sure the the Win7 update killed the track-pad, but about a week or so ago after I let it run I've lost the track-pad function completely and the keyboard is erratic. If I accidentally hit the Caps Lock key the keyboard stops responding. I discovered if I open the keyboard control panel and just change a parameter, like how fast the cursor blinks and APPLY then I get the keyboard back without rebooting. I downloaded the track-pad driver, says it's the same as installed but the system no longer recognizes it's there in the control panel. This is an HP G60 series laptop running Win 7 Home.
I'm downloading TSG to add that info, but searching I see many people have had similar problems like this with no solution on various brands of laptops and Windows.

Just touching the button causes the window to shake up and down. In Google the curser in the search box moves on its own to the right. Cannot type in the box. Am using my XP machine for this post as my main Win 7 machine is unusable on the net. I have just tried rebooting so far, to no avail.
