View 1 Replies View RelatedI just recently noticed that my screen will black out for a few seconds and come back, and when it does it changes my monitor set up so that 2 is main monitor and 1 is the off monitor, I tried changing it so it only showed monitor 1 but it still seems to be blinking.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I got rid of my Windows XP and installed Windows 7. In the beginning I didn't notice any discrepancies and I started filling my computer with useful programs. I was interrupted by a crash that basically makes the screen become dark blue with lines going diagonal. Also what was strange was that when I used button combos such as alt+F4 and ctrl+alt+del it changed color and I could hear background noise the same as when it is running normally. Therefore, to sum it up, my monitor display crashes randomly even upon startup or when I use some programs. As a result I tried the Windows 7 compatibility checker and everything seemed alright.

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5142 & Toshiba tells me the video card supports TV out. One article tells me all I need is a VGA to s-video adapter, but that doesn't work. (E-How) Another article tells me the jack on my computer must match the jack on my TV. (Windows.microsoft.com).
Too new to computers to know if this is needed to answer my question, but Windows 7 & Google Chrome.
Is what I'm attempting possible, or is it time to break down and get with the program with a HDTV ?
so since I updated my laptop to Windows 7 I've been having some trouble playing in full screen mode. Everytime I launch a game 2 black bars pop up on the right and left side of the screen not allowing to display the entire screen section. Below I send a picture of what really happens:

The monitor screen used to be displaying POST progress before Windows begins. But the screen now stays in black until the Windows begins. What could be the remedy?

i tried a dozens of drivers, the new and the old ones (laptopvideo2go, dox moddified...) for Windows 7 x64 and for vista x64... and still the same problem, still stuck at 1600/1024

I am using my Sony Bravia LCD PC jack for the my pc's display(for the moment until I get a longer HDMI cable). The screen is severly shifted and I cannot adjust it by just uing the hortizal control, it is still out of range. Is there another way to adjust it via windows drivers to minize the shift(like in linux)? Any help would be great.
Oh BTW, I also am using the latest ati driver 9.10. I had the same problem with the windows driver.
I have a shuttle Windows 7 pc setup as a media center, running a ati radeon 4550 over hdmi to a sony lcd tv.After the system has booted (on a ssd for os, harddisk for data,1gig network nas for films and music) i get intermittent problems with the display blanking outWhen it starts it goes every 3 mins, with the tv loosing signal for a second then the display returning.Ive tried...Swapping the hdmi cableReinstalling the osSwap graphics card for nvidia Adding extra cooling to the ati4550 card to keep it down below 50c.Even got a new barebones case and motherboardReinstalling the os seemed to resolve it for a while, then it reappeard after a few weeks.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I open my Windsor program I can see it is open but it won't show anywhere. I have an extended screen and I can see when the program opens that the screen flashes and it looks like the program is hidden. I have tried all the options I know of including re-installing software.
Some more details. The program I run had four charts open and when I last closed the program I had one of the charts expanded.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe first one is the BIOS boot up screen that usually leads me to Windows. A few months ago, this vanished. I don't know if it was due to a version of Windows 7 i installed or something but whenever I turned on the PC, the screen would appear blank for a few minutes then go straight to the Windows welcome screen. I thought it was weird, but I didn't see a problem since it went to Windows so I disregarded it, which looking back is kind of dumb but I didn't want to risk doing something to the computer in the process. So a few weeks ago I was trying to partition the hard drive so I can install the Windows 8 preview on it, rebooted the computer and...nothing. It wouldn't take me to Windows to there's clearly a problem with the hard drive. I could always get a new one, but there's still the problem of the vanishing BIOS screen.

But when the boot gets to the login screen it dispalys on my laptop and from thereon everything is fine and normal
If i connect an external monitor or projector i can see everything right from the very beginning on the external monitor such as the TOSHIBA POST and the starting wndows etc. When the login screen appears the dispaly from the external monitor dissappears and the dispaly returns to my laptop screen after which everything is normal.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know from searches on here that this laptop is pretty much obsolete when it comes to finding drivers for some aspects of Win 7, but I've also found some who seem to have got it running well on it, so hoping this isn't maybe a driver problem but something else that maybe can be easily fixed.
Basically Windows 7 installed without any problems but is running in a box centred in the middle of the screen - I tried to improve it by changing up the screen res, but while that did bump it up a bit it's still well shy of the screen edges i.e. 1 inch of black all around it. Is this thus another driver issue do you reckon or does anyone know of any other way to increase the res, as I can't find anyone else with this particular problem in searches here or elsewhere (unless I'm not searching with the right terms).
Already have it installed on my desktop so the laptop was really just for backup of sorts and not the end of the world if it won't work properly, but be nice to know for sure.
I have a hp mini 210 netbook. Im trying to run games like broken sword on it. In my previous windows 7 instalation, i just selected 'maintain aspect ratio' from the display properties, and it gave me a full screen game.
I had a terrible virus, so had to format and install another windows 7.
I noticed the graphics driver is a bit different, and now when i select 'maintain aspect ratio', it makes no diffference whatsoever. how to actually get full screen again?
im running win 7 x86 in a vaio vgn nr 21s/s with a 8400mgt and i cant find a driver which displays my correct resolution in my external wide screen (22'' at 1680/1050)
all i cant get is 1600/1200 or above but not he optimal.
After wrestling with 'black screen' on wake up issues and 'Display driver stopped...' pop-ups, I joined the forum today and thought I'd start a thread with a copy of a reply I posted to some older threads on SevenForums related to this issue.
I think some of the black screen video driver troubles are being caused by either incompatible Power Plan settings... or poor uninstalls of older video drivers... or both. this is only a suspicion and nowhere near a certainty, which is really why I'm putting it out there.
My dual screen has suddenly stopped working on my laptop. Now when I hit 'detect' my laptop screen goes black and I have to force restart the machine and disconnect the second laptop. Is this likely to be a hardware fault?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf a key is pressed down for longer than 2 secs, it apparently stops working, i.e. the display halts. If I release the key, the (apparently unprinted)characters appear at once. If I hold it down long enough, it even beeps. This happens with all the keys including backspace/arrow keys making my browsing experience miserable. (i.e hitting backspace on google box, the deletion seems to stop abruptly. But when I release it, I see multiple characters deleted at once)
This is reproduced in Firefox/Wordpad/MS-Word (At its worst in Firefox, much better in Notepad, but still there.) I rolled back to a 1 year old backup image via CloneZilla but the problem still exists. Probably its a hardware issue? (My laptop is now about 2 yrs old, it has switchable graphics, 512mb amd raedon card). Just tried it again with headphones on, it gives me a 'drrrrr-r' sound. Its even happening now as I'm typing this at a moderately fast pace.
