Shows A Warning Next To "Calibration Retry Count"?
Oct 12, 2012
I ran HDTune and it shows a warning next to "Calibration Retry Count". Under the "Data" column, it's been 612 since yesterday. What does this mean for my hard driveAlso, I've use various other HDD testing programs and I get perfect results.
I have a Dell Inspiron that is running Win7 Home premium 64 bit and I am getting an error message while booting up it states "No boot sector on internal hard drive. No bootable devices--strike F1 to retry boot". When I strike F1 it boots just fine.
im back with some more and probably annoying questions, I would like to use something like the link bellow but the description states that (When using in conjunction with a fan controller / motherboard header, be sure your controller can handle the total power of the combined fans) so that got me a bit confused, I understand that I add up the watt on the fans, but how do I know how much my PSU and the cable can handle? I am planing on using a molex to 3 pin connector that comes with noctua fans, could I use 2 of those on the same cable to then add the splitter to, or do I want to use 2 cables and use 1 molex to 3 pin on each cable? I am using a Corsair HX650 PSU and I tried looking at their site under specifications but that info made no sense to me
I've upgraded my PC and reinstalled the OS; spec shown below. The only difference is that now, my OS is on an SSD drive (OCZ Petrol). However, I note that my memory usage is constantly increasing; even with only background apps running, I was up to 7GB. When I check Task Manager, I see that the "System" process's "Handles" count is constantly increasing. As I speak, it's almost at 1,000,000; last night I saw it get up to 4,000,000.
Can someone please explain why in the year 2009 do we still have to calibrate joystick and control pads (granted it only takes a couple of seconds in the game) just to get things to hold center? I've never understood why a PC has to calibrate it's gaming peripherals whereas consoles you don't.
i have a word document with many numbers in it, i would like to know is there a way to get the amount of numbers separately, similar to the word count option.
I bought this computer three months ago, and had no problems, up until now. It all started with it freezing up all of a sudden, forcing me to restart. But the display didn't show up. Tried again. Didn't work. Eventually, I removed my GPU and placed it back again, thinking it was loose. Then it finally worked.
Then it happened again. So after taking out my graphics card twice, it finally started working, but my HDD started making strange sounds. A sound I've never heard before, and only occurred during start up. I shrugged it off.
Now I start getting these sort of instances, when what ever program I have open, stops responding and Windows get's pretty laggy. The Windows Explorer (Not IE, the tool bar thing) also is unresponsive. I know it can't be a virus, Trend Micro showed no signs of anything after I scanned my computer a bunch of times.
So I did what any sane person would do, I did a bit of research on the net, and found this thread on this forums. The person here had a similar problem that I did. After reading most of the comments, I downloaded HDD SMART, as instructed, and apparently "Current Pending Sector Count" is yellow.
I am having a problem with the built in Windows 7 color calibration.I follow the wizard for achieving the correct calibration and I am very happy with the final results. However when I restart the computer it looses the calibration settings, so it has to be re-done.
I've recently decided to dig out my old Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick and put it to good use. However, it seems that Windows 7 either lacks the calibration wizard that Windows XP had or it's just hidden very well. I've google searched "Joystick calibration windows 7" and the like numerous times, all coming up with some tutorial for XP.Anyone could point me in the right direction as to what I should do or where I can go to calibrate this.
I got a new monitor recently - a Viewsonic VA2333-LED. I found that I didn't like the color settings and was not able to get the right color/gamma/brightness and contrast settings by using the monitor's menu. I have an Nvidia card, so next thing I did was to edit the color settings through the Nvidia control panel to just how I like them, I selected "Use NVIDIA settings", hit apply and saved the new settings. Looked great until I had to reboot my computer or it went into stand by at which point mysteriously the "Use NVIDIA settings" would become unchecked and my color was back to being an overexposed, bright white mess.
Next I tried the WIndows Color calibration. I went through the process saved the new color profile and set it as the default. Then, lo and behold, after my computer went to stand by, the color was right back to being crap. I even went so far as to delete the default profiles completely, leaving only my adjusted profile set as default. But again, when the monitor goes to stand by, the color settings that I created are lost. Here's the strangest part, when I enter the WIndows 7 color management screen, it still shows my profile as selected (even though clearly my settings are not applied). I have to uncheck the "Use my settings on this device" box and then recheck it and voila, my settings are back. And on top of that, my settings are only lost about 50% of the time that my computer goes to stand-by. On reboot, they work properly, but get lost half the time when the computer enters stand-by.
been reading about Windows 7 monitor calibration for color matching at microsoft site and how to do it. don't have Windows 7 yet tho. is this monitor calibration effective? colors on monitor and printed materials match pretty well say compared to 3rd party calibration tools?
Ive just installed Windows 7 on my desktop computer but when i try to burn a disk i keep getting "Power calibration error" I have checked for the IMAPI in services but it isd not there. I also have the same problem on my laptop...IMAPI is not there either, my laptop is running Vista.. it just stopped working all of a sudden.
Do i need to download IMAPI from somewhere?? Ive looked everywhere but cannot seem to find it or any info on it if its missing .
I have a Dell XPS 15 (L502X) laptop withIntel Core i7-2630QM processor6 GB DDR3 RAM15.6" Full HD LED Screen2 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT540M with OptimusMy display was a little 'warm'. I mean that what should appear as white didn't appear white, instead it appeared creamy (i.e. according to RGB scheme, the red content in the display was more than what is required.)To fix this, I did thisRight Click Desktop > Personalize > Display > Calibrate Color and then adjusted the red and green bars to make the color settings proper. Now, the display is as I want it to be.The problem is that when the PC reboots or when an UAC window pops up, the settings are lost and again my display becomes 'warm'/creamy. I've tried going to Control Panel > Color Management and doing what this says:
When I run the Display Color Calibration to alter the gamma cos it is too bright for me, It resets after any reboot or shutdown is there any way to keep the adjusted setting after shutdown/reboot?
I had windows vista 32 bit earlier. Then I got windows 7 professional upgrade in trial period. I didn't notice how it happened. Of course it must be my mistake. Now when i boot from windows 7 it shows 64 bit and in vista it shows 32 bit. The system asks before booting which one to choose. It's today only that I have installed but I am not facing any problem as such except that i need a product key within 30 days. Should i leave as it is or uninstall vista somehow. Would i be able to reboot my system using the 32 bit vista CD?
It does it once a day, yesterday it was about 3:30 pm today it was 11:30 am its done it at 9 pm and I have windows update service disabled on the msconfig startup.
I'm new here and having problems with my computer it keeps shutting down with out warning if I have multiple tabs up it at least has problems shutting down with no warning and pops up to ask me to shut my firefox down or force shut down. I had problems with this computer doing this before and sent it to HP they said they fixed it that only lasted for 3 months and it's doing it again now my contract is up with them for free repair. I open it up and sprayed a can of air into it still didn't do anything to stop it.
I am trying to download the windows 7 OS into a DVD,however after certain period of time the download stops itself without any warning.I tried this different times but the same problem.I checked with my ISP in order to look if there is any problem with my Internet.
I've just moved flat and after I did my computer keeps rebooting itself every so often. There doesn't seem to be any reason to it. I've check that all my fans are still working and that all the cables and cards and what not are corrected install and that something hasn't been knocked but everything seems fine to me. I had a wee gander round the internet and it pointed me to check my system log and the two error codes I'm getting every time this happens is: Event I.D 41 + Event I.D 6008. The I have just recently got a new Graphics card, 4gb extra of ram and a wireless adapter. These were all installed on a clean version of windows 7.
My Gateway NV53 w/W7 HP SP1 works fine, but when on battery in the past week or so, dies (not shuts down) when the battery reaches about 10%.There's a "CLICK!" and the computer goes stone dead and shows abnormal shutdown on reboot. No low battery warnings show.No power settings have been changed.
New hard drive, new install of windows 7. Machine freezes without warning, Sometimes after 2 hours, sometimes after 2 days. When frozen, unable to CTRL ALT DLT or Start / shut down. How to diagnose root cause and solution?
Since about 1 month my PC turns randomly off. Sometimes after 10 hours, sometimes after 2. Mostly when in Idle or when I'm watching movies on a second Monitor (TV but it also crashes if it is unplugged so thats not the reason). Sometimes when I try to boot again it wont start except if I turn off the PSU for ~15 seconds. Sometimes when I reboot there's an error message "Asus Anti Surge was triggered".
I already tried: - Replaced my OCZ ModXstream 600w with a Corsair AX750 PSU - Stock settings in Bios - Asus Anti surge deactivated - Changed the power outlet to another one
My hardware: i5 3570k @4,3 GHZ Asus Sabertooth Z77 GeiL Evo Corsa 16GB Sapphire AMD 6970HD 2 Harddisks 250/500gb 1 SSD OCZ Agility 3 120gb
And like I mentioned 2 different PSU's. OCZ ModXstream 600w Corsair AX750
i am in a mess with my pc.Something is wrong with it but i do not know what..??anyways the problem i am facing is very peculiar , my pc restarts automatically when log on to my desktop in windows 7 .No BOSD...No warnings...After restarts ...i start again...it starts and again the same thing...i tried SAFE MODE...it works fine...i left it for almost an hour and it was fine ...but it normal mode it restarts within seconds...so i am guessing that this is neither a hardware nor a overheating issue..so then what is the problem...software...????I have already tried a fresh install previously ... the problem comes back....i tried to check the event viewer ...it says.."Event 41"...i have cleared up my cabinet clean..the fans are working smooth...recently got a new graphic card....no noise ...nothing..but still it restarts...what can be the reason...????i am using a quad core intel processor with asus p5q pro and gts 250 grapich card.
I have an acer Extensa 5620Z laptop and recently, without any warning it just restarts. A blue screen appears out of nowhere and then the computer restarts. When I was able to choose how to restartt I chose safe mode and went to the event log where it said "The driver detected a controller error on DeviceIdeIdePort2.". I have no idea what this is and I've seen a bunch of stuff talking about reconnecting thing and adding new roms
