I've had WMC7 forever but never used it until now. I set up several series recordings and wonder if there is a "todo list" of sorts somewhere. I know how to scroll forward in the guide and see that way but thats not very efficient.
Like many users, I archive my favorite shows/movies by removing the commercials and then renaming the title to "Archived TV" so that the content shows up in a specific folder. I have been doing it this way for years without issue. However with Windows 7, the behavior seems erratic and random.
Example: I edited two recorded programs yesterday then renamed both the titles to "Archived TV" and now one shows up in the correct "Archived TV" folder, while the other shows another "Archived TV" folder all by itself?
It's driving me crazy as everything is now scattered into two different folders.
Within the last couple days, Media Center/Recorded TV has started displaying a message "WMC could not find any shared libraries on your network or there is no content in those libraries."The directory it uses to record is "C:UsersPublicRecorded TV" and I can see prior recordings and new recordings in this directory. If I go into "Tasks" and select this directory as a library it shows as already selected and tells me no changes will be made to my libraries list on selecting "finish".I can click on one of the recorded program files in file manager and it will launch WMC and play just fine - the recorded programs just don't show up in the WMC/Recorded TV where they should.
I cannot record some of my Recorded TV content to DVD as I get an 'Unsupported File Type' error when trying to do so in Media Center. But other Recorded TV shows burn fine without this error.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue and know why this is happening?
I though that using the Recorded TV section would be PERFECT for managing the movie series that i ripped from my dvd archives, but WMP AND WMC refuse to see them, even though I added their folders into the Recorded tv libraries.
I have build 7000, and am upgrading to a later build. How can I get my MCE recorded tv list (programs it has recorded in the past and the upcoming recording) to transfer to the new build? I have tried the easy transfer stuff and that did not copy it over.
Does anyone have any pointers? I like the new build - but I had too many shows setup to record to bother with the upgrade - and it's annoying to have it record duplicates of reruns I've already seen (though some reruns I haven't so I can't say "only new" in the record options).
Anyone know how this data is stored and is it transferable between builds?
I have the gateway SX2850, Home Premium 64 bit, with a Homerun ATSC dual tuner. The audio is fine for any programs streaming online, but I cannot get audio on live or recorded TV. This happened suddenly. I watched a recorded show and it was fine. I tried to watch the same recording a second time and there is no audio. I ran the audio diagnostic/fix program, but it did not work. I do get Win 7 audio, just not when I try to watch recorded or live TV.
I have an audio recording issue and I will try to explain it as best I can. When I record with a microphone, the recorded audio plays back very low. I have gone through the settings for hours on end and can find no cause. I have the microphone gain at 100% and the boost at +30. The system plays back other prerecorded files fine with plenty of level. When I play my recorded files I must crank up the volume, so high that I get a lot of background hiss. It records fine, just very low. I took a look at this in both Audacity and Adobe Soundbooth and the level meters reflect the low signal level as being down in the mud. I have not tried 'Line in' to see if it works any better, I have only used the microphone. BTW, I have tried several microphones all with the same results. Additionally, are the microphone input jacks in my motherboard stereo? The boom microphone cable on my headset is a three wire just like the ear pieces. Does anyone know the pin configuration for this jack? I am assuming the the tip is one channel the ring is the other channel and the base is ground/common. FYI, the Sound system is onboard - Asus P6X58D Premium mobo running 7 x64 Pro, and Realtek HD drivers. (Installed and reinstalled and updated) Also, I tested the headset and boom microphone on another system, (Abit IL9 Pro mobo onboard audio running Vista 32 business) it also is running Realtek HD drivers and it works fine.
Windows 7 media center x86 I notice recently that when I view my recorded TV there's many shows that lack the episode name in the title. So for example I normally would see 'Octanauts Cookie Cutter Shark' yet now (or at some point) I just see 'Octanauts' - no episode title.
Is there a reason / setting for this ?It's a real pain when trying to tidy up (delete) duplicate show recordings.
Not so long ago I added a freesat tuner, could the reason be that MCE is not able to locate the episode title when recording from Freesat ? (I have a DVB-S2 and a DVB-T tuner).
I found that MC was ideal to work with my TV tuner and making immediate or scheduled recordings is a doddle. The .wtv recording is readily burned to a DVD in Video-TS format using MC and this is playable on my DVD player. There is still the problem of having to fast-forward the run-in and commercials but for a one time review on my TV this is not really a problem.
What is a problem is where you have a particular recording which you want to edit and and then produce a DVD which can be played on any player. I found the basic editing of removing start and end sections and splitting to remove commercials easy using Windows Movie Maker. This edited version can be saved as a Windows Media Video (.wmv) file which can be viewed on the computer in Movie Maker but if burned to DVD, cannot be played in a DVD player. It can also be saved as a .mp4 file but this also cannot be read by any DVD players. Media Center does not recognise either of these formats so cannot be used to burn to DVD.
is there a convenient way to both edit the recorded TV and then save it on a DVD in a format which can be played on a regular DVD player? Alternatively, is there a program which can read .wmv and .mp4 and burn to DVD in Videa-TS?
I have a job where I constantly say the same stupid line when I answer the phone. Its a software phone and what I want to do is, record my greeting via the sound recorder, then play it back THROUGH the audio pickup as though I am speaking it through the microphone as usual, not through my computer speakers
I just recorded most of season 2 of the walking dead series yesterday. when i try to play the file in wmc i get the following message:
"Copying prohibited. The broadcaster prohibits this content from being copied. You can only play this content on the same computer on which it was recorded."
That is exactly what I am trying to do. Play it on the same computer I recorded it on.
I have tried these discs on two computers (they're Sony DVD-RW's) and brand new, I open them and put them in the disc tray, I press "burn" and it either pretends to write on one computer and then says error after 3minutes (no data is recorded) or it doesn't detect the disc it keeps saying "Please insert a Disc"? I've tried literally everything and I doubt it could be the disc's because they're brand new. The windows fix it centre program identifies an issue but cannot fix it?
I use the Media Centre TV listings to record shows, but sometimes the guide lists information for a different episode than the one that is being aired. I am recording broadcast TV over the air. Is it possible to edit this information so that it is for the show actually aired? Even being able to edit the episode title and the original date aired would be a help in keeping track of what I have already recordrd.
I recorded some footage with Fraps, opened each file in WLMP and Saved Project. Tried to open it in Windows Live Movie Maker and it wouldn't work. I have each file in a zip file: Clips.zip. I deleted each original file after saving it as WLMP.
I've just upgraded my Media Centre from Vista x64 to Windows 7 x64.Previously when watching recorded TV I could use the skip fwd/back buttons on my remote &/or keyboard to skip fwd 30 secs, or back 7 seconds; however this no longer works. They do however work perfectly when watching/listening to Movies/Music.The on screen skip buttons still perform the same task (fwd 30s, back 7s).Reading other forum posts I gather this is because the skip buttons are looking for the next track and by its nature recorded TV doesn't have any tracks. Is there a way of editing the registry to reprogram the buttons to skip fwd a specified time frame when watching recorded TV? I'm using a logitech dinovo edge keyboard for which I've installed the latest drivers. I also use my iPhone with JumiMouse as a Remote and a Hauppage TV Tuner Remote, all the above have the same problem.
I use whs (both 2003 and 2011) to backup my Windows 7 media server, have several cablecard tuners, but if I ever need to restore (from earlier version) or even re-format this computer, recorded programs will not play again (cannot play recordings from another computer is the message). Any way of save/restore the current drm info before I restore from earlier version or even re-format????? Screen capture programs are crap.
I changed my Windows Media Center "Recorded TV" folder to a different partition. After I recorded a program, I was able to view it on my PC and also "PLAY TO" my TV. I lost the ability to see those files from my SONY Bravia. I can still access my PC as a server and can view other video files, but the "Recorded TV" folder shows as empty, I switched back to my original partition and still no luck.HP Pavilion running Windows 7 premium 64
So over the past few days it seems that I have lost control of my C drive and all of its contents.I can no longer properly access it, and everything opens in "Read-Only". I can no longer install programs or modify existing programs.According to the security permissions, I have none. Nor can I change my permissions because in order to change them I need access to the C drive, which I don't have.I have tried creating other users and putting them in the admin group, etc. but nothing is working.
Today I decided to install some stuff on my computer as it was out of date..I installed Java, Flash player and adobe reader X but when I go to add/remove they are not showing up in that section?
Every time I start up normally into Win7 everything is fine for a couple of minutes. I'll open a few programs, then after a few minutes of them running they'll hang and enter the 'not responding' mode. (firefox, steam, IE). If I don't already have task manager running the system will basically be unresponsive and the only thing I can do is reboot manually. If I have task manager running I can sometimes end a process or two but some will remain open & unresponsive. Any programs that are working (including task manager) disappear when I minimize them and no programs appear on the task bar, (though they can be retrieved with alt+tab).
McAfee also has 'real time scanning' permanently disabled.
This is all very strange as there was nothing wrong four days ago when I was away, and the symptoms occured within 2-3 minutes of booting up this evening. The system runs in safe mode.

I restore syatem by Iobit Uninstaller. but no any change.I checked registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall). There is only 5 keys. How do I recover these registry keys.
I downloaded Adobe Shockwave Player which is needed to view a file (.swf), and it appears in the control panel as an installed program. However, it does not appear as a default program when I am trying to use the "associate a file type or protocal with a specific program" even when I press the browse list. The program also does not appear when I "right click" the file itself and use the open command. The program also does not appear in the list of programs on the "All Progams: list when clicking the windows icon. So, can someone tell me how to get programs onto the default list....(Please, I have seen a number of threads that talk about how to "set" the default program which I am well aware of...I need to know how to get a program to be recognized and incoroporated as part of the list).
first when I try to open microsoft office starter 2010 a box appears...click to run configuration error....so I went to programs and features to repair it and many of my installed and pre-downloaded programs aren't listed.. they are in the start menu and they work but they're just gone. Microsoft office and all related programs and features are among them....I had about 60 or 70 items before and now 23...I've tried system restore and nothing...
I'm having trouble running most program, specifically the ones I use the most. I can't run google chrome, or world of warcraft, as well as any other programs I typically use throughout the day. Aside from google chrome, everything else runs in safe mode. System restore was unable to fix my problem. This just started happening today. I had problems with my internet so I reset my computer to power cycle my router and upon restarting the problem occured.I've run Avira, IObit 360, and Malewarebytes, all of which were unable to find any problems. I also managed to get one of my regedit programs to run and only came up with the typical fixes(shortcuts, etc). I can't run msinfo32, or the task manager by right clicking the bottom bar. Interestingly enough I can ctrl+alt+delete and get the task manager. All the programs I try and run, show up as tasks.
