have Windows 7 64-bit working properly, and make me feel a bit better about buying it? At the moment it looks like I'm stuck with a bunk OS and am out $200. I'm not happy at all...Here's a summary of the main problems I'm having:System restore doesn't work - I make a save point, but it doesn't see it when I try to restore. I had XP Pro before 7, and the restore function didn't work on that OS eitherIE 8 32-bit doesn't work, it freezes after viewing a page for about 20 seconds. The 64-bit works fine, but I want to use the 32 bit if I can, mainly because I use roboform and that doesn't work on the 64 bit browser. My surround sound only works if set up as a 2 speaker system. No video files will play at allRegardless of the type of video, they give the same error "server execution failed"I use Impulse, from Stardock, which is basically a service like Steam.Impulse runs, but only minimized, it won't come up to the desktop. I had the 32-bit version of 7 installed, and it worked fine there.
There's more, but this is all I can think of atm.I've been working on this sh*t since last Saturday, and am starting to burn out. I need to make a list of the problems so I don't forget what they all are. So far I've installed Windows 4 times; apparently there's a lot of software it just doesn't like (like office 2000 & the zonealarm I have), where loading just frags the whole

I watch videos from this site Poker Netcast | Live At The Bike | LABTTheir login is https.Ive been in IT for 15 years and even this has stumped me.When I go to login in IE9 starts looping from the login page to the https page and back to the original page and never ends. I load firefox, same issue. I load Crome, it worked for 1 day then same issue. It used to login in fine last week. It logs in fine on my 2 other PCs and my Kindlefire.I have checked for viruses with Avast and A-Malware Bytes in safe mode - nothing. These 2 pick up 98% of stuff. Personally I dont think its a virusn IE9 - Deleted browsing history, cookies, temp internet files, everything under the Geneeral/Browsing History section. Did a disk cleanup, put the site inthe trusted zone, turned off popup blocker just in case, Cleared SSL state, Reset IE9. Zippo

If the computer has been on for an hour or so windows freezes 9 of 10 times when starting a new application. No matter which app it is, it can be Maya, 3ds Max, Photoshop, After Effects, Spotify or even a simple jpg/targa picture in any program. But just after rebooting everything works fine for about an hour or two, it's then the problem starts. And it doesn't freeze always, sometimes the computer can be on for a couple of days without rebooting and I start any application normally, but that happen like 1 of 10 times. I'm running the latest drivers for the graphics card, mobo, mouse/keyboard and I've even tried with older drivers for the components but the problem still remains.

I have a Toshiba laptop, that always freezes randomly. It worked fine up until about a week ago... I can't do anything, I start a program or a game, or open the internet and it freezes usually within five minutes. I can't do anything to fix it, like move the mouse or press control alt delete.

Recently I have run into a problem with W7. Every time the Open File dialog window opens, the window freezes, as does the program. It is becoming super annoying. I could live with it at first finding ways around it, but I have hit a roadblock in a few programs that require it. I have found several possible solutions but none have worked. No extra network drives attached or anything like that.
MSE is virus program running. I have tried disabling everything else using CCLeaner, but problem still persists. I could simply do a reformat but that is a PITA.

I am the proud owner of a Windows 7 Ultimate comp with 6gb ram, i7 920, etc... I have had this comp for about 1.5 years, and it has been slowing down... The bootup time has slowly been increasing, and the amount of time for me to actually be able to use programs once I see the desktop has increased. I have disabled all but the completely necessary startup programs/services, but this does not seem to work.
Whenever I start up my computer, sometimes I open task manager and check out the performance window and every time my computer is slow, I see the hard faults skyrocket. At startup, the thing is over the max shown on the graph for a while. To my knowledge, the hard faults/sec represent that the computer is either writing to or reading from the page file.
Anyway, down to the real question: Would disabling the page file decrease startup times, by forcing the computer to write everything to the ram, instead of tying up the already-slow hdd by writing/reading the page file?

I regularly clean and reinstall windows on my computer, but this time it won't work. I am trying to upgrade my system from 32 bit to 64 bit, and when I try to boot (from DVD or flash drive) it gets to the windows splash page but never gives the option to install. It's just the mouse on a blue background.
I've done everything I can think of, even downloaded a pirated version to see if it would make a difference!

i have an intel i5 2400 cpu, combined with 4gb ddr3 memory. mobo is dh67bl - revision 3. no gpu installed.power supply is via corsair vx450.problem i been facing:
1) bsod saying that a clock interrupt wasnt recd. [url]
2) bsod saying: page fault in non paging area. couldnt grab a screenshot for this.
3) display randomly goes off for a split second and reappears.. but the color of the panes go blue (i havent chosen blue. my setting is for clear pane.)[url] this error solves itself after random number of hours/mins
4) display vanishes for a split second and reappears, and a small balloon at the bottom right corner prompts that the display driver had stopped working.
5) system plain hangs/stops responding. randomly happens.. but more so while on Internet, or after hrs of it idling, i come back to the comp and try to scroll the content onscreen.sometime it revives from the stuck state as if nothing happened, sometimes i have to give it a cold boot.
6) while reading forums with blue bands.. the blue bands kinda form blurry bars which stretch till the end of the screen. i tried to grab a screenshot but the screenshots were clean. the bands moved as i dragged the image about.
7) also, my comp's display went off one day and within a second came back with a blue-ish hue. it restored itself but again has gone back to blue-ish.
other relevant information:
windows 7 x64
no other os resides/installed on system

I can no longer leave my pc on overnight or it freezes. If I run more than 2-3 programs it freezes. I was watching a video once with headphones on and heard a loud noise then freeze.I at first thought it was just one of my hard drives dying because I had similar symptoms before I removed it. But, the fact that the crashes are happening more frequently without accessing the questionable e: has me stumped. Then I figured maybe it was the overclock I did in my bios. But, restoring it to normal has had little effect on the performance of my machine.I have run and run on an almost daily basis the following: All updated daily or when available.
Microsoft security essentials
Superantispyware
Malwarebytes
CCleaner
JV16 power tools 2011

whenever I try to install a game or program (happens more often for games), the setup process freezes at random intervals. Not the kind of freeze where it crashes or gets the 'not responding' error message, but I can't click anything or advance to the next part of the setup until it goes away. It's really strange, and only started happening two weeks ago. I'm running Ultimate 32-bit.

About a month ago my PC was freezes on bootup. When I eventually got into Windows, the PC would often freeze again resulting in several bootups and system startup repairs etc. I ran several free and paid-for hardware diagnostic applications which all gave the results that no hardware had issues. I updated all the drivers so again eliminating any issues here.

If I close down my computer by switching it off with the on/off switch, when I next boot, I see the message"Start Windows Normally" and a stopwatch which counts off the seconds until the machine will boot normally together with several options to boot into Safe Mode, which is expected. However I cannot select"Start Windows Normally" or move up and down to select Safe Mode options. I have to let the timer run it's course and boot normally because the whole window is frozen

Firstly, my system specs are on my profile I got a new ram stick for my PC. Here's the link from where I bought it:Flipkart: Corsair DDR3 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) PC RAM (CMV4GX3M1A1333C9): RamSo I put it in and booted up the computer. Worked fine till the welcome screen of windows7. I then logged in and after the startup processes were loaded, I got a blue screen of death. Got it couple more times when I booted it up. After that the screen never gave any BSOD. Just kept freezine. This kept happening again and again. I thought it might be because my older corsair ram sticks could be conflicting with this one. So I booted it with the new stick only. Same freezing of screen. So it definitely isn't conflicting RAMs.
I decided to see if the problem is with the stick or some driver issue. So I booted into Ubuntu and am currently typing through it. Been using it since a couple of hours and is working fine. So this definitely is a windows issue with the RAM stick as windows works fine if I remove the new stick. Also, windows works fine in safe mode with the new stick too. Any idea what is the issue here? I'll be posting the minidumps of the BSOD in a short while.

I am sure everyone recognizes this: at almost every startup, you see the boot animation. Windows 7 uses those 4 colors that merge into a Windows flag.
But the animation freezes at a random moment, then after 3 seconds it disappears and there we have the normal menu where you choose a profile to login with.
I want to see the animation completely, so making use of those 3 seconds where the OS is loading to continue the animation.
You have this in Windows XP too, where the loading bar freezes.
Are there any solutions for this? It would be fantastic to see the Windows flag at the end, and not just those 4 colors about-to-merge.

XP installed and working fine on the first 100 Gig partition of a 250 Gig Drive.
Installed Windows 7 on a second 100 Gig partition.
Windows 7 boots and runs fine.
Boot menu works fine.
XP boots but freezes after it reaches the desktop.
Deleted the Windows 7 partition.
Boot menu with choice of Windows 7 or XP is still there.
XP starts and runs normal again.
Tried installing Windows 7 on a separate drive.
This added a 2nd instance of Windows 7 on Boot menu.
Windows 7 works fine
Windows XP freezes again after reaching the desktop.
Started XP in safe mode and disabled all startup programs and retried.
Same results, freezes at desktop.
Unplugged the Windows 7 drive.
Boot menu remains the same.
XP starts working normal again.
Evidently something in Windows 7 is interfering with the XP startup procedure.
What am I missing?

have asked this question before but I relocated my question here. I recently built a new computer. i5 quad core, Ga-p55 mobo, 8 gigs of ram- ddr3 1600 corsair, nvidia 460gtx se. When i start my computer up it freezes on the Windows Logo. I tested my ram, for 8 or so tests, no problems. I used 2 different hard drives and the problem happens on both of them. One of them is 500gig which i know works, the other was 750gig. when windows does load it takes about a minute or 2, with no other programs on it

I have a problem where windows 7 freezes just after logging in. It's happening on a new build (i7 2600k, asus P8Z68-V PRO, thermaltake 775w psu, 16gb 1833mhz corsiar vengence, crucial 120gb ssd, evga gtx 570). for three weeks the computer ran great and super fast. while playing a game it froze and required a hard restart. I began playing the game again and 20 minutes later it did the same thing. after another hard reset it began freezing after logging in. Sometimes getting stuck, sometimes getting a blue screen. in safe mode the computer would work fine. I had the asus autotune OC on the first time it happened, subsequent times had it off.
I discovered the issue seems to be the video card driver. after removing the gtx 570 the problem still occurred with the onboard video and intel drivers. When i uninstalled the intel drivers and just had standard vga there were no problems. this led me to believe it was a motherboard issue. luckily my motherboard was under 30 days old so i returned it for a new one. Same problem and i'm stuck on what the solution might be.

I am struggling to fix my computer. It all started when I went to install an 3rd 1 TB drive to my computer. The computer seemed to boot up just fine, then once windows started to load, I got the BSOD. Now I have disconnected all the drives but the one my os is on. When I load windows, I get a couple mins of use, then everything just freezes. I can work with safe mode a little, but it will randomly reboot after a few mins sometimes. I don't know what the problem could be. Here is what I have done/attempted so far. Disconnect all unnecessary devices - no changeRan a memory test - okTried startup repair - it says it fixed a couple problems, but I have not noticed any changesRan a DiskCheck - Fixed a couple bad clusters, but I have not noticed any changesSwapped PSU with one I know works - No changesRight now I am running a virus scan, I'll post later what the results were. I have attempted to do a system restore, but windows keeps crashing before it completes it. System Specs:Windows 7 x64AMD Athlon II x4 635MSI 880GMA-E458 GB DDR3 RAM (4x2GB)Saphire Radeon HD 5450

Dell Inspiron 537S has been working without a problem for 3 years. Suddenly, it will not boot -- the system freezes when the Flash screen appears. I have tried the following with and still get the same result.Tested all voltages on the power supply under load -- all are ok replaced the 3 volt bios battery.Originally, I thought the problem was bad hard drive, but the problem occurs before the operating system takes over. I also replaced the hard drive with a new one. Then I used the original Windows 7 Reinstallation DVD in an attempt to fix the problem. Same result with a new un-used hard drive as with the original hard drive.

Whenever I boot from an alternate source, (Knoppix linux CD boot, windows XP from dual booting), windows 7 freezes at the login screen. It does this everytime without fail, and only after the alternate boot once.
After this happens, I turn off my computer and restart and it boots fine. I did install a dual boot and mess with the partitions, but I found this happening even after I booted from a linux cd (knoppix, and did not change anything)
So it seems that after booting from an alternate source something changes for the windows 7 boot, and after a hard reset it fixes?
