P5QL PRO MotherBoard Bios Upgrades

I just got my Windows 7 pro 64bit today and before i installed it i searched on the net if there any problem with the p5QL PRO MotherBoard,(Bios Version) anyway
right now my bios version/date 0902, 28/11/2008.
i never updates a bios before i don't want to blow up my motherboard either lol
i looked on support.asus and i found updates, version 1001 or higher 1004
but i don't want to upgrades it if i don't need too , anyones know if i really need to upgrades it to support win 7
cause i saw many thread here talking about win 7 64bit that don't work well with 9800GT
i dunno if the driver are the cause or the motherboard itself,

when is the optimal time to flash a new bios update. do you do it then reinstall windows? or does windows even need to be installed at all to upgrade a bios?

I am swapping out my older X58 BIOS motherboard for a UEFI motherboard with a new Ivy Bridge i5. I'd rather not have to reinstall Windows 7, and just want to make sure I can swap the boards and CPUs without issue.

I just swapped out my old motherboard since it was quite rubbish (really old packard bell m-atx board) for a brand new ASrock P5B-DE motherboard.
However after installing the board and plugging everything back in exactly where it came from on the old board, the PC cant boot into windows 7 64bit. I've tried the repair option and it doesn't work.
I've tried disabling and enabling various options in the BIOS. Also tried removing the memory and only using 1 stick then tried both sticks in different slots and that hasn't changed anything.
I've tried inserting my Win7 CD but it doesn't seem to boot from the DVD drive (will keep trying to see if it can).
System specs are:
Intel core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz (using Freezer Pro7 CPU cooler)
Samsung DDR2 800mhz Ram (2GB x 2)
160GB 7200RPM Hitachi HDD
ATI (XFX) 5830 1GB GPU
Zalman 500W PSU
my next point of call is to try a lower end GPU as i've still got my Nvidia GTS 250 and doesn't use any external power from the PSU.
(P.S. I'm not overly bothered about doing a clean install as i recently did one anyway and I haven't had a huge amount of programs installed on the pc since then. But if I can fix this without a clean install that would be preferable)

Mine is gigabyte g31 mother board it is taking too long time to install windows 7 or 8 into it , it will asks press any key to boot from CD\DVD and i pressed after that ,it will start loading windows files and logo will appear and it takes more than 3 minutes to show install windows and also after that it takes 3 minutes to show setup is starting up.

i've recently decide to update all of my PC components , and stuck on motherboard bios. i've red the manuals , and it says to download "asus update utility" on their site , but when im choosing "windows 7 64" and downloading the utility it says that i should download 64 bit application . so is there any other way to update my bios ? or..

About a month ago, one day when I turned my computer on, the BIOS display side had shrunk, leaving a 1 inch black border around the edge of the screen. This went away when I turned the computer on the following day, but has now come back. It doesn't seem to have any other adverse effects, but it bugs me. Can anyone explain why this might be and what I could do to make my BIOS full screen again?

I have the above motherboard. I have been using a video card which is three years old and thought I would try out the integrated video before my video card died. I switched it in the Bios and switched the monitor cable and it started fine on integrated video. The only thing is that the first screen where I can enter Bios does not show, so I am unable to enter the Bios. I tried hitting the delete button on the blank screen but nothing happens. I was able to shut down the PC and switch back to the video card, so I am OK. Does anyone have any idea why the first screen doesn't show on integrated?

I updated the bios to the latest version on a gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3, using @bios application in windows. I have two disks in a RAID1 All was working fine but upon boot i was getting a message about enabling ACHI. Stupidly curiousity got the better of me and I eventually I said Yes. The next time i turned off i couldn't boot to windows. I went into the bios and noticed that the SATA was set to ACHI, but the bios still saw my RAID volume set up and everything appeared Normal, so i changed this setting to RAID.
it still wouldn't boot to windows - giving some message about not having access to the drive. i tried using the windows install disk but that gives error messages about RECENV utility not working, use chkdsk. it does show a drive as a volume D: (not C: interestingly) I have tried running repair and that doesn't work. I have tried chkdsk/r and that didn't help. In fact that degraded the Raid so i had to rebuild it, and now that is running Normal.
I also can't see any of my restores when i use the install disk.
I don't want to do a reformat and start again as there is data on there that is newer than my last backup.
So the options i am considering
1. remove the disks - place one of them in an external usb case and try to extract the data to save it - not sure if this is possible? and then do a clean install or try the below.
2. can i go back to the previous bios version? is that just a case of power off everything and remove the CMOS battery? and power back on?
3. go through with a new install of win 7 but don't format the drive and see if it just corrects any bad files.

Have a bunch of machines waiting for the pre-order upgrade disks coming Oct 22. Several posts have said that the RTM is the same installer that will be shipped as upgrade. Is it possible to do the upgrades from XP and Vista now without waiting for the activation, then input it when it arrives shortly?
I started to try this last night and wasn't prompted for any key after starting RTM disk from desktop, selecting custom and selecting partition to install. Is this because the Upgrade disks have special code required for reading the XP/Vista activation when asking for Windows 7 upgrade key?
Also if upgrade can be installed to a different partition, then it seems there is a way to get a completely clean install running the installer from the XP/Vista desktop on HDD and installing to another HDD? I am trying to figure out how to get the cleanest possible install here without overwriting if poss.

I've done a lot of Windows 7 upgrades for people and I've noticed that I've never had to enter any kind of key when upgrading a properly activated copy of Vista, I think even during clean installs...
Does it activate automatically or is it just a matter of it waiting a week before yelling at you about it?

Since a re-install of Win 7, everytime I boot I get a UAC pop up asking if I want to allow Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to make changes to my system. Even though I select NO it keeps coming up at each boot. Do I really need to have this program installed and/or how do I stop that from coming up each time?

Every time I get an automatic update from Microsoft, it changes my home page and I usually go to restore my computor to a previous setting, and my home page comes back to where I had it.How can I stop or block these updates, or receive the updates with changing my home page to the default plain jane google home page?

pinpoint the EXACT how-to on upgrading a windows 7 basic system to ultimate (both x64bit) without losing any of the softwares and any other data on disk.Overview of issue:I've bought a new lenovo Z580 ideapad series laptop which came pre-installed with windows 7 home basic (x64) which I absolutely loathe as it has no aero themes and I'd like to change my windows to ultimate. My laptop came pre installed with some softwares and features for which I wasn't provided any driver/SW CD so the only way to keep these softwares intact is to upgrade (from what I understand, upgrading windows doesn't wipe off your softwares and program files?)What I've already tried:It seems windows basic can't be directly upgraded to ultimate using windows anytime upgrade. I tried and upgrade failed.I have windows 7 ultimate 64bit installation CD and product key, is there any way to upgrade my system using that and not do a clean windows install?If everything fails, is there any safe to use program or method to get setup files of my existing program files so I can reinstall them after clean windows install?

I've got an Acer Model As5742 Laptop with an i5 480M processor and 8 GB of good Ram. I'm running Win 7 Pro 64 Bit. It's only about 5 months old and this started about a month ago. I have no other problems. IE: Blue Screens or Lockups or anything, just the Bios clock changes to a random date and time after every restart. I replaced the Bios battery twice and it only effects the chore of having to reset the time in Windows every time I boot.
I'm going to send it to Acer to be repaired within a week or two, but maybe it's not a bad timing mechanism in the motherboard and one of you people have a correct solution to it. Which will save me the trouble of sending it in for a motherboard replacement.
I do have all the drivers and bios updates installed. Oh yes I've ran about 15 different virus Etc. Malware scans with several different products and they all come back clean. I ran System File Checker SFC /scannow from the command prompt several times that also comes back OK.

i just finished my build and i have no idea why i went for a motherboard with 2 slots for ram it can hold up to 16gb but luckly ebuyer sent me out an extra 4gb of kingston hyperx ram so i have 8gb all together but theres a problem theres 4 sticks ! obviously i wouldnt want to send it back so what do ya think either upgrade my motherboard and smash the extra 4 gb in there or keep to my original one i dont have money to blow atall im really struggling if its something that will really make a difference ill go with it if not then ill just keep to my original and when i come to buy a graphics card i will get a 2gb graphics card to help with gaming?

On HP's advice, I just updated the BIOS on my laptop. It's currently stuck at Verifying New Bios Image, and it's at 100% - It's been stuck that way for a half-hour plus.

My Samsung series 3 laptop has been sending out popup messages telling me I need a bios update, I go to the Samsung software update site and this bios update has been failing, I have made several calls and chats to techs at Samsung who tell me to do what I have already done, they tell to ask for tier 2 tech, who can go in my computer and fix it , When I finally got a tier 2 tech, they told me the same thing, I told him what I had been told about him and what he could do, He said, is it working , I said yes, but settings on computer change on their own,like wifi turns itself on and that concerns me. Anyway, He said that it didn't need a bios update,even the Samsung website said this computer needed a bios update. I just bought a new case for my pc (CM Storm Trooper) and in the top front there is 2 USB 2.0 ports and 2 USB 3.0 ports build in (plus some other stuff) so i was wondering if there is a way that i can get the 3.0 ports working on my ASUS M4A77T Motherboard, which i don't think supports USB 3.0? Is there any adapter/PCI Interface that can make these ports useable?

i have recently purchased an HP computer, that had Windows starter edition, i reformated the computer installed windows vista ultimate and then upgraded to windows 7, i have everythimg working fine, i managed to download most of drivers, my main concern is that card reader that i have in my computer doesnt show when i open my computer or computer,
that about normal mode, but the card reader shows in safe mode, thats wierd, and also these are generic drivers from windows 7, as i was unable to locate any drivers for card reader, may be you understand what my concern is, waiting eagerly for a reply. and my motherboard model no is (Foxconn MCP73M01H1).

Cpu i5 or AMD 1090t or whatever. I can pick out a motherboard that will support USB3 and SATA3 and of course I will have the 2 HD for them. I don't know crap about motherboards but when I pick one out to build my new computer what should I be looking at bus speed and so forth because I don't want to pick out a motherboard that will support them but is slow as mud so why bother so I want to do this right and another hundred here or there don't matter but I don't need a dragster just a Corvet. what I might want to take a hard look at on a motherboard?

how to go about moving hard drives to a new mobo. My current setup is running on an LGA 775 socket, and it's got two drives, one of which holds games and the other has Windows 7 ultimate which I installed. I need to know if there would be any issues if I got a better 775 socket motherboard and transferred the hard drives over. Would everything on the secondary drive stay the same as it was and be a simple swap? and would i have to reinstall windows on the primary drive or would I just be able to type in the product key again?
