View 4 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden about two weeks ago one of my ports for my wireless router dongle decided to quite so I used another and after a couple days that quit as well. Now none of the four work nor does the disc drive. I have tried everything to attempt to correct this but I get the same result. I don't know if it is in the system configuration I am missing or the CPU board going bad. I would hate to buy a new board and have the same results their by telling me it was the Windows 7 software all together. I could re-install Windows 7 but I do not want to delete all my programs I use that are loaded.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a satellite c675. The dvd drive was working a couple days ago, but now it won't play anything. I'll put in a dvd disk and it would take some time to read it. Then it says please put a disk in when there is already a disk in it. I checked the properties and it says it's working fine when it's really not.

I love this laptop for it is the only one out there that I found that has a lock for the touchpad.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRunning Win 7 64 bit on a Dell laptop. Previously had an older MS wireless mouse that worked fine. Went to upgrade to IE 9, and the mouse quit working. After repeated tries at un-connecting/re-connecting the USB, restarting computer, all met with failure. The system still does not recognize the device in the USB port. Have tried other ports as well with same result.
Being an older wireless mouse, went and purchased a newer HP optical wireless mouse. No driver included to install (no software at all). Same results in each port tried (3 in total) as the previous mouse. Device not recognized and not installed. Plug and play is on per what I can find in the system. New batteries were tried for both devices. Placing the mouse and receiver in different distances between while hitting the 'connect' buttons did no change.
Verified the new mouse is on the compatibility list for Win 7 64bit. Tried running the troubleshooter but it takes me continuously to the device page telling me the device is not recognized and not installed. Tried a system restore to yesterday, before I did the IE 9 upgrade/install (via online). Noticed System Restore said 2 windows updates were done at the time I did the IE upgrade. Completed system restore - no change for either mouse after trying all the above again, with system restarts as well.
I was using a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500, which has worked flawlessly for me until now, when it suddenly stopped working. I was simply watching a video embedded in a webpage when it suddenly stopped late on the night of October 3rd (a few hours ago). I've downloaded or installed nothing. The mouse is in use 18 inches from the tower. It's plugged directly into the tower. Thinking I would reinstall the device driver I uninstalled it, but now Windows won't recognize my mouse at all.

After installing three or four updates yesterday my laptop now clicks the optical drive a couple of times as I start any video or music file on the hard drive. Not a fatal flaw, but, very irritating just the same. Did a system restore to the morning before the updates- same behavior remains. Installed updates again, removed them one at a time, same thing. Restored to over a week ago, same behavior! What is up with this clicking. The files start and play immediately, no problem there, I'd just like the optical drive to mind it's own business. Movie discs play fine, burns stuff fine, just go to your corner and SHUT UP!
I received the intact hard drive from my old Toshiba laptop (laptop was salvaged and I received a new laptop) How do I transfer the data and programs to my new Toshiba laptop? Do I need a computer wizard to perform this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Alienware M14x R1 with a SSD - Crucial M4 in the main spot and the stock HD in the optical drive. I have never had any issues with any of this stuff before this clean install - and I have done clean installs previously. I also used Parted Magic to Secure Erase my SSD and HD before install.I am experiencing some pretty frustrating problems:
1. I have NO INTERNET CONNECTION (everyone keeps telling me to install drivers...how can I do this without internet connection??)
2. Windows is not recognizing my second hard drive in the optical drive even though it did when I was installing and showed it at the section where you can add new partitions etc
3. My display adpater is not working as I have a 1600x900 screen and I can only go up to 1024x768...
ht omega striker 7.1 sound card
running optical out and into my amplifier, have tested the amplifier input, and the optical cable. tried the drivers from manufacturers website, a couple sets of vista drivers, no drivers, and tried switching the default optical out back and forth with different drivers in the windows 7 "manage audio devices" screen.
on that screen it shows a sound bar going up and down, as if the pc thinks it is sending sound out of that output,. but nothing. double checked the optical line is coming out of the output on the back of the card, checked volume...out of ideas!
anyone else have this issue? not sure if the drivers are not working properly or just need to try some different vista drivers and squeeze sound out until the windows 7 drivers are working properly.
(should mention this exact setup worked fine 2 days ago, until i installed windows 7)
I have a toshiba satellite L750 running Windows 7 home premium, when trying to burn anything onto a blank disc I get as far as selecting my items and asking it to burn but it keeps telling me to insert a blank disc (which obviously I have). I have tried several different types of blank disc but it dosnt seem to recognise any of them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt seems as though my two optical dvd-rom & dvd-ram drives are working only intermittently, since loading windows 7 64 ultimate from vista 64 ultimate.
While there are many drivers that I have saved as downloads plus those that can be found online there are drivers that are only available via disk, so having the optical drives consistently function properly is of the utmost importance.
Anyone with any suggestions are solutions please let us all know your thoughts.
I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop which is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.I don't know how long it has been since the DVD drive stop functioning. Whenever I insert a factory DVD,CD, or even custom/ blanks my drive does not recognize the inserted device. For some reason, which I cant understand, the drive itself clocks, but the OS isn't recognizing anything. When I checked the drivers, it said they were up to date.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy cd/dvd/bluray read/write drive on my laptop suddenly disappeared. All "my Computer" shows is my C: drive, whereas I used to have a D: drive. I was uninstalling a few programs before it happened, one of which was Daemon ProTools, which I suspect to be the culprit.
I read that the program TestDisk might be able to help. I ran it but only my hard drive shows up in the program too. When I insert a disk, I can hear the drive reading it, so I know it didn't become disconnected.
I presently have a 6 year old Dell X300 running XP, it has been a good machine but is getting 'tired' and I am looking at getting something new. The type of machines I am looking at like a HP Pavilion dm1 or a Lenovo Thinkpad X100/ 120 (new) running windows 7 of course. They do not come up a optical drive. So my question is what happens in the case of a HD failure? With the X300 I have reloaded windows on to the new HD using the CD drive and recovery disks provided. But in 2011 what is the way of being prepared for a HD failure with machines that have no optical drive and no windows 7 supplied reinstallation cds/dvds?Is there way of doing it thru a USB flask drive? is that the answer?
