View 1 RepliesIf you extract the icons from imageres.dll or shell32.dll then the maximum icon size is about 64x64 and 32x32 for most icons. I am trying to extract the largest icons, where can I get them.
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy client's computer was infected with a virus obtained via Facebook. I removed this and multiple other infections (and I'm pretty thorough with my scanning). She gets it back, starts working on it, and apparently her devices and printers icons are blank. Not missing, like with a "blank page" icon, just... blank. Here's the kicker: it only happens with large and extra large icons. It also happens with normal folder icons. When I change it to medium or lower, they come back. I've tried rebuilding the icon cache database several times, tried sfc /scannow, tried chkdsk, tried uninstalling any recent updates, etc... There have been no hardware changes, the hard drive has been tested as good (no bad sectors), her dual monitors are at a sane resolution, and I'm confident that the viruses has been removed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI figured out how to share custom icons across network computers but when I set the view to "Extra large icon" on my network computer, the icon does not fill the space. How can I make the icon fill the space? It fills the space on the host computer (where the files are) but it won't fill the "Extra large icon" space on the network computer, it remains small size on all view options. It shows lots of white space surrounding the icon when the view is set to medium, large, and extra large views, and I want the icon to fill the space.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust bought a new cyberpowerpc from Fry's, installed a 3rd hard drive (Western Digital 3TB). Everything seems okay except when I try to copy any large files/folders to the new drive. I'm using a folder that is 11.3GB with 686 files. I can copy it from drive 1 to drive 2 no problem. When I copy it from drive 1 or drive 2 to the third drive (the 3TB one), it will start copying then sometime soon after, explorer will close itself down and the computer will end up rebooting itself. Sometimes there will be a BSOD and sometimes it will just reboot without the BSOD.
I have tried to attach the dmp files etc...using the recommendations of the forum. I'd like to use this new drive for backups (it's the reason I got a new pc, my old one crashed and I didn't have a good backup system).
in xp all photo`s taken on a fortnights holiday were placed in one folder, with its name and start date underneath, clicking on it would open all the photos as thumbnails. in w7 the folders have the date they were down loaded and only contain photo`s taken on one date. can they be displayed just like they were in xp and if so how
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever I view a folder which contains .MP4 (H264) video files in large icon view (shows thumbnails), Windows 7's Explorer crashes. Explorer loads for a few seconds, the green progress bar shows up, and then boom!, Explorer crashes. The thumbnails are not shown before crashing.I tried setting Folder options to 'Always show icons, never thumbnails' (disables thumbnails) on the same folder with MP4 (H264) video files and Explorer doesn't crash if the MP4 thumbnails aren't shown. I tried testing in other folders containing other video formats (with 'Always show icons, never thumbnails' set to off) like .AVI/Xvid, without an MP4/H264 file, and Windows Explorer shows the thumbnails fine without crashing.
I have not currently experienced problems with other formats, only MP4/H264. The only media players that I have installed are KMPlayer and VLC Media Player which both do not install external codecs, AFAIK. The only external codec I have installed is CoreAVC, but I have been using CoreAVC for months (KMPlayer+CoreAVC is one of the first things I installed in Windows 7) without any problems (this issue just arose a few days ago).I am using Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit.
Using Windows Live Photo Gallery, I find that if I wanted to 'Send' photos to my external drive, a message appears stating " Cannot find folders - they might have been deleted.....etc. True, I have sent some photos to my external drive, but why are the photos stll showing when I first bring up Windows Live Photo Gallery?
( I am trying to send ALL of my photos to external storage)
1/ My first problem is the speed/latancy of my PC, Its lagging quite alot now after running smoothly for a good 4 years with only 1 complete reinstall (from vista to Windows 7 ultimate 32bit which Im running now)Im finding it slowing to snail pace at times and when I open a large program like Photoshop only recently but it seems to not like this as much and even turns my PC to look more like Windows 98 when opening folders/web browsers all horrible and blocky.2/ I seem to have encountered a google type virus, which basically feels the need to open up adverts when I click on a link Ive seached for on google.Malwarebytes doesnt pick anything upAdaware picks up a load of unrelavant stuffSearch & Destroy finds nothingBut I still have the problem, Ive read up about it and even after deleting the problem you can still have this infecting your PC. Ive tried looking in the registry and looking at links on google where people have had the same problem but nothing.
3/ I have an external HDD which runs pretty smoothly. I keep it only for music and recently found 1 folder would slow up the entire drive to the point of crashing when ever I opened it and tried listening to the music in that folder. looking into this it has seemed to be 1 .wav file that has been causing problems, Ive removed this now and its sat in my recycle bin, Nothing will remove it from recycle though its just sat there, Cant delete it, Cant delete it with disk cleaner etc. nothing its still there
Unable to open large picture with win32. What can I do?
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy computer is running Windows 7 - 64 bit 3gb. 14 months old.About 5 days ago it started running very slow, programmes were not responding. My hard disc is not a quarter full and I have checked that discs don't require fragmenting. Icons on the task bar disappear and I get black screens. Start up is ok, but shutting down is slow. I mentioned to my son that windows photo gallery live, is particularly slow at loading (at most I only have about 250 pics in) but to my horror, when he had a look, he clicked on the "video's" and there are literally 10,000 pics or icons (for instance dozens of ebay icons - Nero Icons - AOL icons and many others) that I know nothing about. When the problem first started I did a manual AVG full scan which showed 350 warning, 43 potentially dangerous objects - all the warning were tracking cookies through Firefox. I only look at facebook with Firefox and 2 days ago a manual full scan revealed 45 warnings with about 6 potentially dangerous objects, tracking cookies.

"Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because either this photo viewer doesn't support this file format or you don't have the latest update to Photo Viewer."
The problem came out of nowhere but.. I was working with pictures and might have deleted something on the lower task bar. Adobe has disappeared too. Was going to try to update it but it is no longer on my desktop????

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have split my user profile onto a larger mirrored drive using a junction link. This works perfectly. However when viewing my personal folders I see multiple identical icons for favourites, links, my music etc. When I navigate to the actual area everything appears as it should be.If I try to delete one of these identical icons then both icons go to the recycle bin along with the files inside the relevant folder. Please see screen shot. I could recreate my profile and point the new profile at the relevant folders but setting up all my applications again will be a bit of a nightmare that I would like to avoid if possible.
