View 7 RepliesToday I built my new rig (specs below) and I kept the hard drive off my old gateway to save some coin. After I installed all the new hardware I turned it on and the ASrock screen popped up and prompted me to choose instant flash, select boot order, enter BIOS, and switch screen. When windows 7 attempts to load it stops while the dots are floating towards the center. The windows repair tool didn't help what-so-ever (go figure >.> ) and the PC won't/can't run in safe mode. I updated the BIOS from the ASrock website but that didn't help. I've tried all of the options provided and none worked. I don't want to format my drive and lose my data but I will if I must because I may have access to a new copy of Windows 7.

My motherboard manual says i have a "PCI express" video card slot. but it doesn't say if 1.0 or 2.0 or 3.0. I'm assuming it's 1.0 because the motherboard is a bit old and the video card as well(Nvidia geforce 7300 se/7200 gs) If i'm right and it's a PCI-e 1.0 motherboard, what video card can be compatible with it? 1.0 or 2.0 or 3.0? I want to buy a new video card.

I have the above mobo, just installed windows 7 64bit. Everything else is fine but I cannot get the sound to work even though when I test or play music I see the bar rise and fall. I have exhausted everything I know to do. I did see the CM6501 thread here but after trying the drivers, it still does not work and when I click the CM6501 icon, it freezes the PC and I have to reboot.
Any ideas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently upgraded my os to windows 7, and noticed a significant
fps drop in all games I've installed. The problem seems to come from the sound card.
I've disabled it in device manager and I gained a steady 15-20 more in most of the applications.
Any idea what to do? Is it a driver issue or something? I got an Athlon 64x2 4600+, Asus M2N mainboard,
2 gigs of ram, Gainward 8800GS video card, Sound Blaster Live 24bit soundcard.
Drivers are downloaded from creative.
Is there some way I can increase the amplification of my sound card which is SoundMax integrated digital audio

The external sound card installed is Xonar DG and it comes with SPDIF output header to be interfaced with video card. But I do not see no such header on the video card. I wonder what video card has such an interface header.

If anybody knows a fix for this I really would be eternally grateful
I've solved my gaming graphics issues, namely by choosing the parts I wanted rather than buying yet another "Media-Center"-style all-in-one unit that did everything, but not very well, I'm now in need of a solution to my present awful headphone sound quality. I have a generic Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card that is not very good, sound-wise, and, because it doesn't even include an optical out plug, goes unused. I purchased a refurbished Turtle Beach headset w/DSS decoder, and, while it works as advertised, the headphones are terrible for music. I've replaced the TB Headset with a much better-sounding Pyle set, and will buy some "real" headphones as soon as I've determined that the source itself is sending out a good-sounding signal.I've seen pro and con arguments about sound cards, like the Xonar series that have headphone amplification included. My issue with that is I am more concerned with the graphics for games, and I've built this system with SLI (another gtx580) in mind, and I do not see enough room under or in between the dual GPUs for proper installation of such huge sound cards, though I'm glad to have my ignorance in this area demonstrated. The anti-Sound card group seems to be gravitating towards a separate headphone amplifier, and I"ve seen them from the $20 dollar model included free with another headset I purchased, to the $1800 tube amps. I think I would like to either go this route, or purchase a home stereo receiver that can output the PC sound, thus having both satisfactory amplification for low-volume music listening( or ear-bleeding levels, if desired) and the ability to power speakers elsewhere. I guess what I'm asking is for some entry-level priced PC headphone amplifiers to start off with. I see countless rating comments for the FiiO series, and while the prices are certainly attractive, the fact that they're so low-priced also makes me leery of their actual amplification abilities while staying neutral in tone.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new pc from Dell. I opted out of buying the SB sound card they had as an option and now I am sorta regretting that. I loaded RC 7100 as soon as I got the machine and after going through this forum I am sorta left with the impression that SB cards don't work with Win 7. Is that really the case?
I was looking at an "Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card" but if it will just cause me grief it's not worth it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can get and not pull my hair out trying to get it to work? The main game I play sounds sorta mediocre with the on-board sound.

normally i only have 1 sound card/sound device in sound settings when i use hdmi with my tv, i have 2 sound devices in there, and i can choose 1 one of them as default, and all applications i run will play sound on that default device, so i choose hdmi (my tv) as default, open chrome for my mom watch movies, sound play on my tv (hdmi), that's what i want and i open firefox, go to Internet, sound also play on my tv (hdmi), that's not what i want, i want it (firefox) to play sound on my pc, so my mom can watch movies on tv, and i can watch Internet on pc
is there a way to do this? a way to set per-application sound card/sound device setting? i know some programs like windows media player or vlc can let you choose sound card, but firefox, chrome do not. i tried indievolume and it did not work, even uninstalled, reinstalled but did not work, or is there any browser that let me choose sound card setting (like wmp and vlc, but these 2 are not browser)
and does anyone know if mac or windows 8 has this feature as built-in? if windows 8 does then i might upgrade
OK before I go into the issue, I am aware that there are threads that relate to this, however with my problem I feel that I am half way to resolving the problem... also I know that people frown upon thread hijackers, so I thought I would create new.So the issue as far as I know... well the thread title says it all. I've identified what conditions create the problem, however I don't really know why, or what I could do to rectify it. I used the "listen to device" to better hear it, and basically when I'm on the desktop, I can hear a feint whining, however when I fire up a video game I hear an audible and loud buzzing which pretty much competes with the in-game audio. This isn't a problem if I'm just playing a game on my own, but when live streaming or recording with Fraps, if the mic is set to accept sounds, I will get the buzzing along with the game audio. The only way I can completely nullify this annoying sound when recording is to tell the recording program to completely ignore the microphone.I have tried a number of things to attempt to resolve this issue. First of all I can pretty much rule the motherboard out of the equation as it is a relatively new board. Also I can rule out my headset and power supply as they are both under a month old, and my soundcard as this problem occurs with both my internal Creative X-Fi card and my onboard Realtek HD Audio device. Given that this sound seems to be most evident when the VGA is being stressed, am becoming more and more of the opinion that my graphics card (Nvidia GTX275) is the problem device, however what confuses me is why these annoying sounds only occur when a microphone input device is "recording".So what am I looking for? I guess am asking what could be causing my mic to broadcast these sounds, why graphical stress is sending out these sounds, and what I can do to resolve it. I'm not too keen on buying a new video card, especially when I don't actually know if that will resolve the problem. I've also heard about EMI being a possible cause of this issue with poorly or unshielded cables, but I've tried turning off various electronic devices, moving my phone away, physically reinstalling the devices in the base unit (tower), cable tying everything away from the cards, even relocating the computer to a completely different room at the other end of the house, so I think I can rule out EMI as well.If you've had a similar problem and installing a new graphics card was the answer to it, please let me know as well. As I've already stated, it's not an issue if I'm just playing games, but if I want to record my voice for commentary or simply just talking to other people on Skype while streaming or recording with Fraps, it's an automatic no-go.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy google-fu is failing me and I can't seem to find any solution before I return some of my new hardware. I just picked up and assembled the PC. I unstalled Windows 7 64 bit ultimate without any issues. As soon as I add the Ceton InfiniTV4 to any PCI-E slot, I can't get past the loading operating system.
The Ceton card works fine in my other other PC with a Gigabyte board so I am guessing it is some conflict with something on the Z68 board. This is a fresh install with only driver updates, and Windows 7 updates.
Please could anyone tell me how to download creatacard onto my laptop with windows 7, I'm finding it most frustrating as this is not the only programme compatible with windows 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is probably just a stop gap but I was finally able to get my old Creative Audigy 2 card to work with 5.1 surround by using Audigy 4 drivers for Windows 7. I haven't been able to adjust bass and treble yet but I've been too busy just enjoying the music to get around to looking for ways to make that happen. Music sounds better than it ever did in XP or Vista!
It may not be a complete fix but at least it'll get you some sound until they come up with driver for those of us with older sound cards. Be patient as it takes a while for the complete install!
Quick summary: SATA Controllers on motherboard are not working. Ordered and installed a PCI-E SATA Controller Card. Connected Hard Drive & DVD Drive to new card ports. Upon attempting to boot installed windows 7, it spontaneously restarts before loading. It seems that I need to get the Controller Card's drivers installed. i try startup repair mode, and I can load the driver and see the Windows 7 installation after that, but then I don't know how to permanantly add the drivers for this installation.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer is unable access my router. The power went out for a second and clearly that did something. I have an HP p7-1174 desk top, running Windows 7 Home Premium x64. The processor is an AMD A8-3800.
There are now several devices in the manager with yellow exclamation points, all relegated to the LAN. I get a Code 31, unable to load drivers message. I ran the sfc scan and there were no integrity violations. I tried updating drivers without any luck. My router is working fine because my laptop and iPad both work online.
The problem seems to be that Windows can't load the drivers for my 802.11n wireless LAN card. I tried updating drivers but it said the driver was up to date. I tried changing manually but the only two listed were the same and when I clicked one, it said Windows was unable to load.
The sound drivers intermittently do not load. It is listed in Device Manager under Other Devices as Multimedia Audio Controller when it does not load at boot. I have to turn off the computer and boot again until it loads. This is a clean install and not sure what is not right.
