Jun 19, 2009im running windows 7 (7100) 32 bit.
Ive got Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio in, ive downloaded the xp, vista and 7 beta drivers from creative, they either say driver version not found OR they say the device isn't plugged in properly, which it is having run it with xp. The only thing i don't have is the disk anymore.
Has anyone managed to get this sound card working with 7? if so how did you manage it?

Sep 18, 2009I'm running Windows 7 build 7600, and seem to have a sound card driver issue. Sound is successfully comming out, but it is screwed up, it fades in and out and has terrible quality (driver from clean install). I am using this sound card, have looked around the forum and have come across a post leading to this driver, unfortunately the download link is no longer working, and was posted several months ago, so maybe there is a newer driver available. Can anyone provide me with a link to the latest up-to-date driver for this sound card please?

Can anyone please tell me how do I use this card with windows 7. I don't know if it will work with Windows Vista driver and I couldn't find a driver for it. I went to dell's website and that driver didn't work, probably was not compatible with Windows 7.

Dec 26, 2011I put in a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCIe), installed the latest driver from Creative, found here: Creative Worldwide Support (1.04.0000, released 30th June, 2009), and it seems that whenever I click things that make noise (a good example being the volume slider in the system tray), one of my speakers (which one being somewhat random) makes a fairly loud *popping* noise. It also does this when I press a button on the keyboard that makes noise (such as when I press the left arrow in the Find box in Chrome when it's empty).

I loaded RC 7100 as soon as I got the machine and after going through this forum I am sorta left with the impression that SB cards don't work with Win 7. Is that really the case?
I was looking at an "Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card" but if it will just cause me grief it's not worth it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can get and not pull my hair out trying to get it to work? The main game I play sounds sorta mediocre with the on-board sound.

I tried to use compatibility mode but no difference. The name of the card is exactly "Sound Blaster 5.1" not VX and the other ones.

Dec 20, 2009I don't know why this works. I have a Sound Blaster Audigy Se sound card that wasn't working after installing Windows 7. I've been trying for days to fix this problem and finally and mysteriously I got my soundcard to work. I downloaded every driver from the Creative website to daniel_k's drivers and still nothing. Anyways, what I did was reinstall Windows 7 which takes no time at all.
DO NOT INSTALL ANY UPDATES!!! Again, I don't know why, but I only chose to install the Sound Blaster Audigy update and it worked! The first time I installed windows 7 I installed updates and then tried to install the sound blaster updates and it didnt work. I highly recommend this to everyone!

Jul 20, 2009I cleaned the dust from the comp & since then I am getting this error, sound is only working on front 2 speakers. i ensured the card is properly installed, which it is. Last 4 months its been working fine with 4.1 speakers.
Now I cant start the EAX control setting.
I uninstalled the card & drivers & cleaned the registry then reinstalled the drivers from CD.
On installation of the drivers & sound it detects by old speakers as stereo only but all 4 speakers give sound which is too bad, I can now use the EAX control settings .
then I run the windows update it download a creative driver which when installed does show me 4.1 speakers but now the EAX control panel wont open & gives error.
"the audio device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit"
any clue what went wrong & how can I get this working?

Jan 12, 2009I've installed Windows 7 on my desktop with dual boot to Vista. Everything's been working fine but I haven't been able to properly setup my sound-card to function properly. As of now, I currently have no sound and I've been through many different drivers from the Creative website.
I've also tried running them in compatibility mode with Windows Vista and Windows XP SP3.
I am currently getting this error message under the "Device Status" In Device Manager, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)".
Windows has been automatically installing the driver version 5.12.1.2004 dated June 13 2007.
Can anyone please help me with this issue? It is currently ruining my Windows 7 experience!
Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Win7 Compatibility
Oct 24, 2009I know that Creative has stopped supporting the SB Live! 5.1 way back in the day, but I was hoping anyone would know of a way to force it to function in some way. I've heard a lot about this Daniel_K guy, who's been making drivers for old Creative cards, but I can't really find anything for my Live! card that is native to Windows 7.
Alternatively, I've installed the official WinXP drivers on Windows 7, and they work to an extent. I'm getting very odd distortion (echoes) when I play any audio. I'm grateful the audio works decently, but the echoing is really grating. Can anyone help me find a new driver for this card, or at the very least walk me through setting up the XP driver?
